  • That is a common thing here in Louisiana for the Japanese restaurants in the area. Other places have a set schedule but the sushi/japanese places have the most awkward hours EVER and it's different for nearly every day. It bugs the hell out of me.

  • i think you should keep your hair this faded color :)

  • Shouldn't nap time be round 1-3 pm? Thats how it works in Southern Europe

  • I LIVE IN LA!! (I feel your pain)

  • California is a bitch

  • 0:52 Are you saying that America is a illogical country? ... because if you are you are totally right.

  • you would think that wouldn't you... :/

  • i live in southern california and i never have that problem ._.

  • i hate cali i dont like living here a bunch of liberal lazy mother fuckers who want everything there way

  • I guess it depends where you are in the state. Around here only one restaurant has a nap time and it actually posts its nap time, everywhere else is actually open when they say they are

  • A restaurant that opens at random intervals? Sounds like a good setting for a creepypasta. LOL

  • I wonder if it's just the fact that restaurants are closed because they're secretly fronts for drug dealing.

  • @hershdawgmusic I live on the Oregon coast. Live within walking distance of 4 different bars. Not that hard.

  • Right, I'm working my way backwards

  • Here in The Basque Country of Spain all stores close from 2 to 5 fro lunch and naps. Only bard are open all day XD

  • Well maybe they are lazy, but if it's a really busy place or had some complicated meals then they have to close so they can catch up on dishes and prep the food blah blah. Along with that you'll find that if it's some diner that some random has opened as opposed to some super organised chain restaurant then they suck at figuring out ideal open hours.

  • come to my restaurant in orange county, we're open after our naps at 7pm

    mesa in costa mesa

free food and drink for gamer friends :D

  • You're lazy How does that work? When I'm lazy I just don't go out and eat crisps and cheese on toast.

  • 2:30-6:00 = weed time. not nap time

  • No wonder, Little Italy in San Diego...incredible by the way, went into a rest. at about 6:00. Not approached quickly, did not understand it. Thanks Dodg.

  • Dodger, try out Chinese restraurant, they never close :D plus there are some nice vegan ones, even for someone that likes to eat meat as much as me

  • A lot or finer dining establishments close after lunch to prep for dinner. Hours are usually posted on the door. Also, many mid-quality restaurants are closed on Monday, for some reason. Not just in SoCal.

There are also breakfast/lunch/dinner only (choose any 1 or two) restaurants.

I guess that under the perpetually gray and sunless sky of Oregon, having restaurants that serve food all the time might be all that keeps you sane :P

  • weed naps

  • What? Where in the world do you live?! I live in LA as well and I have never had this problem hahahaha Except....Outback, they freaking open at 2

  • Wow. I'm sorry, Dodger. I live in California and have never experienced this problem. I know Japanese restaurants have "nap times" because they're traditional and only open during, like, "Lunch Hours" and "Dinner Hours" and such.

  • I never heard of this. But then again i live in New York City. Yet another reason why it rocks. :)

  • Nap time? For adults? That is a thing? Do they like stuff themselves from their own kitchen?

  • Silly Dodger... you don't live in LA... you live in Mexico. :D

  • i didnt get your vid in my sub box, i think youtube hates me.

  • @Veniden My sub box said I watched this video... and I haven't... yet

  • @0nihanzo My YouTube front page says I've seen a lot of things I clearly haven't :/

  • yeah nap time on restaurants is bullshit. nap time on any business is stupid.

  • I don't have those kinds of restaurants in San Diego.

  • Lunch is 12:00pm -> 3:00pm

    Dinner is 6:00pm -> 10:00pm

If you have a problem with that you have never worked in hospitality...

  • @CaptKieran85 they dont care wat time the lunch or dinner rush is they just want to eat

  • Out here in Milwaukee I have the same problem. Way too many restaurants are doing that whole "lets take a nap and not serve the starving college students who are standing outside in the cold during their only break before having to go to work all evening so they can pay their bills." Yeah, no, not acceptable.

  • Restaurants usually have a lunch service, then close to prep the dinner service.

  • Then ask the staff :P

  • Nap time?

    CLOSE ALL THE RESTAURANTS!

  • I vote cook@home.

  • Whats the Tumblr link?

  • Dear Dodger. I Love Your Coffee Cup. That Is All. Thank You.

  • It's legally called a 'Broment' in the state of California.

  • where do you eat?!?! lol

i almost never run into that problem and ive lived in cali my entire life

  • Bars legally close at 2am in Oregon? Daym, in Melbourne they stay open til 4:30am

  • I dislike restaurants in general. Either its way overpriced, to little to fill me up or McDonald's(if that count it will represent the disgusting).

  • Schroedingers Restaurant would be open and closed at the same time.

  • @Iconoclast66666 You wouldn't know until you opened the door.

  • @Iconoclast66666 And to preserve its weirdness all its guests would have to be blindfolded.

  • @Iconoclast66666 Like your mom's quantum pants.

  • @Iconoclast66666 very surprised there are still people educated enough to get that one :P +1

  • The Dodger call: 5:01-5:08

  • @Greden85 Dodger wants foooooood. Why does the jalapeño potato chip dude not answer? He is shirking his responsibilities for great shame!

  • ahhh no kiss I'm a sad panda

  • Thats pretty normal in upper class restaurants and if you think thats a restaurant there is a restaurant in Malibu that serves steak while musicians play problem is they only cook if the head chef/ owner feels like it sometimes they are open you go in all you can do is listen to live music no food.

  • @Tony007corp Run-on sentences are awesome.

  • I have never heard of this lmfao. I can't imagine a whole staff just passing out at 4 until 8.

  • I've lived in California my whole life. It might just be in you're exact area. I've never experienced this problem in my whole life.

  • "open ze restaurant"

    "i am le tired"

"well have a nap ZEN OPEN ZE RESTAURANT!!"

  • @ShinobiGarth >le Redditscum detected.

  • I've lived in California for most of my life and have never run into this problem... Where are you eating?

  • I admittedly don't eat out as much as you -- but the restaurants i pass day-to-day have regular hours. one is only open @8am - 4:30, others I know are only open for dinner, and I know a few that have a regular break between lunch and dinner service -- but all posted.

maybe it is just your area -- I'm up in Santa Barbara

  • no doubt their coffee would be better if they allowed their coffee-maker a nap.....

    >.>

  • Dodger - my ideal girlfriend. Funny, attractive, loves gaming, and just all around awesome. Where can i find one of you? o.O

  • @joyrideINmypants It can't be all good bro, she's gotta have some hangups. Dating her would probably be like dating a girl whos interested in doing everything, except you.

  • @JarethGT haha. probably.

  • California is wierd

  • did you ask about their hours while you were there?

  • I got this mental image of all the staff sleeping in the restaurant. That's probably wrong.

  • I don't like early dinners because they make me want to eat again around midnight.

  • I've lived in California my whole life and never come across such a predicament. The only place that has a nap time that I know of is this Japanese place, but they still post their hours.

  • @smolderingrose55 agreed.

  • ToDaY wAs mY bIrThDaY!!!!

  • Bars are hard to find in oregon. In portland its like 4 per block. Hell the town has 56 different breweries...

  • can you post a link of the picture?

  • Your whole life in general is just comical isn't it :3

    I tink so.

  • Various industry reports have shown that the south american workers are more efficient and happier with their work due to the cultural habit of "siestas."

Look up the facts on our sleep cycle and the benefits of such things as "siestas."

  • Thats usually when they switch between serving a lunch menu and a dinner menu. Not nap time.

  • I've lived in San Diego my whole life and have never encountered a restaurant that was closed for nap time, and you're the first person I've ever heard mention this. Seems like just another reason I'll never move to LA.

  • Don't get a food 'tude, dude.

  • That's balls. Restaurants that don't serve food in the middle of the day are balls.

  • thats cuz LA sux, shoulda gone to san francisco!

  • WHY YOU SO PURDY!

  • I live in Sacramento and have never really had such restaurant problems. Then again, I don't go to restaurants very often. Sounds like fun times! :D

  • Here in Madera which is in California we don't have nap time at are restaurant, i think its just LA because of large population there

  • I ran out of coffee grinds... is it okay if I drink soda and watch??? eee don't hate me dodggerrr

  • WHY U NO BLOW KISS?!

  • L.A. sucks. Thats the bottom line... I change it. California sucks in general. Meh... Maybe its me. I don't like dolphins too...

  • I think this might be an "LA" thing. I live in Sacramento and our restaurants almost always have hours posted at the entrance. They typically don't shut down until closing which I'll admit is usually fairly early. Kinda weird problem you're having..

  • L.A. sucks. Thats the bottom line... I change it. California sucks in general.

  • Not being creepy and all, Dodger, but your giggle brightens my day c: <3

  • WHYYY!?! Why does it say "An error occurred. Please try again later."

  • @JChua61 Might be a problem with "Flash". Idk

  • some scanners have a setting where they only register what they scan as white or black, make sure this is turned off, because it will make your drawings janky.

  • Can you nap outside the restaurant until they open? Maybe it will be a sign of protest. Like, pile yourselves in the doorway so that people have to physically move you out of the way to get in our out.

  • The restaurant business is L.A. right now is going thru the worst ecomony in years! Many have closed b/c they didn't have enough customers to keep them open. Most people can't afford to eat out anymore, lunch times are slower, so probably around 3 or 4pm,doors close to prepare for the dinner crowd (if there is any) as for the coffee, since you probably got there at 4? (I'm assuming) you may have gotten the old coffee that was left in the pot, ask them for fresh and they're pretty good about it.

  • MOVE TO BELGIUM

we have regular restaurant hours ;)

and we are open more often then the doors say's

and we don't have to close any time at night...

  • idk here in CO most places do post their hours including where i work, but it doesnt really matter because the place where i work can be closed with no lights on and a closed sign on the door or in the window and people will still walk up to the door and try to go in

  • Lol she twitches at 22 second in.

  • @jgarcia12126 Shhhh... Dodger is being updated with new prime directives (classified).

  • Hi dodger, I hope you liked the video with the 200 coffees..

  • I hate coffee, but I love... No, I LOOOOOOOVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE you.

  • they are probably closed whenever the staff takes one of the 700 FMLA days they are able to take each year per California's weird labor laws.

  • England is worse for trying to get things at night everyone goes to sleep

  • I think that might just be LA because I live in Santa Cruz, CA and I have never once seen anything like you are saying. All our restaurants have nice posted hours and are usually open for dinner from 4:30 - 12:00, later if they have a bar. If they do serve lunch then they don't close during the day for a "nap"

  • you cure every form of letdown dodge, thanks for brightening my days :D

  • You can't see California without Marlon Brando's Eyes...

  • Yep Cali is a unique place lol!! ^^

  • Never knew that about Californian restaurants. Thanks for that. It's probably good that you don't tell anybody the names of the restaurants that you go to. Otherwise you would probably have stories like Jonah Hill. If you didn't see him on Jay Leno, check it out sometime.

  • Psst... Hey Dodger... You should totally move back to Oregon... Cuz I'm moving there in 8 months! I think that's a good enough reason to move somewhere!

  • i have seen some do this, mostly because if the restaurants lose money during some hours so they close. but usally they are more family owned

  • "no, let me live with my mistakes".

    Died. My kind of guy.

  • This place called Coffeh Time has the worst napping hours EVAR!! It's only open for like 10 minute-ish at a time, then usually a whole day of napping in-between. the hell :D

  • O.o where in Cali are you? I only know one restaurant that takes a nap, and it's from 4-7.

  • I had a massive headache and everything was horrible. Almost. I smiled when I watch this. You're magic, Dodge.

  • @dexteritybonus sup?

  • And thats why I live in Alaska, we get thousands of dollars a year for doing NOTHING, and the diners stay open :D

  • The thumb nail to this vid looks like she's having an orgasm.

  • @DexterityBonus I had a hard time trying to watch this because my kitten Snow was trying to reach you through my laptop and in the process started pressing lots of random buttons on my keyboard lol

  • in uruguay, almost all stores in all the states excluding the capital, close at 12:30pm and re open at 3-ish. so you can say that more than 80% percent of the country is not open for business. so yeah, it sucks

  • Schroedingers Restaurant. Maybe it's open, maybe not :D

  • @axiras Maybe cat, maybe not. lol terrible.

  • @axiras As Schroedinger would say, the restraunt is both opened and closed.

  • @AnotherMasterMind oh my gosh that theory is getting more popular :P

  • I've seen restaurants in Washington DC operate similarly. My group's conclusion was that these establishments are run by mobsters as a front for money laundering.

  • The only place in my town thats open that late is Dennys, but their open 24 hrs. You should see that place on the weekends after the bars and clubs close down!

  • I lived in Oregon and I had that problem!

  • I'm unaware of how things are in American restaurants, but here in Scotland, restaurants that have a small to medium-sized staff will take naps during the evening. Think about it - chiefs work a lot of hours during the week. Some of them work 9 - 12 hour shifts daily for more than five days on average. It makes sense to take naps during the non busiest time of the working day. The busiest being lunch time, and 6PM onward's.

  • @SunStridar OR, they could be better organized and have a schedule and alternate breaks to staff members so it can keep going...

  • @PlatypusGuitar How do you suppose they do that with a staff of only a few employees?

  • @SunStridar if they dont have enough employees to do that they need to hire more. While they are closed, they lose money. It would be more profitable to assume the expense for more staff and be opened for longer, uninterrupted hours. People who make the effort to go to a restaurant and wanna eat and are hungry are most likely going to irritated if its closed and may decide not to come back.

  • @PlatypusGuitar What you're suggesting is a surefire way to go out of business. They close during these hours because they get almost no customers. All their customers are at work, and the handful of people who come in at these awkward hours are not enough to cover the costs of staying open. Thus they nap and clean and prep.

Now not posting hours like Dodger said, that's pretty damn stupid, and not good business practise at all. A would be customer should rightly be frustrated at that.

  • Aaaahhh...My daily dose of sanity. Feels good.

  • Comment removed

  • Okay. The dislike button should be disabled for both of Dodger's channels. How can anyone dislike Dodger?

  • McDonalds is always open. Stop going to the fancy shmancy places that need to pause mid day to change their menus and prep for dinner service. I was born and raised in LA and have never come across a place with random hours though. Thats just bad business.

  • What kind of restaurants? the fancy and expensive ones, maybe?? ¯\(°_o)/¯

    lol

  • Seriously WHERE in LA does this happen!? Born and raised in LA, that has NEVER happened to me o_O

  • Btw: durned technology! >_<

I managed to doodle something (that actually looks nothing like me, but whatevs) and take a picture with my phone that wasn't very grainy. Now I just can't figure out an efficient way of transferring it to either my PC or the interwebs. I feel like an old man already what with all this complicated techy stuff. *shakes walking cane*

  • its an italian thing its called "Siesta" i actually disliked it too when i visited there probably because i was hungry and everything was closed :P

  • I live in CA Never ever in my 14 years being here have I seen a single restaurant do that. And I've been up and down California many times but not one has done that.

  • Here in NY they are open 24h a day and sometimes 7 days a week.

  • Nap time. What a strange concept. You'd figure resturant would be open at least between 4 and 8, when most people have dinner. We don't have anything like that here in frozen Norway. :P

  • You could always go to a Village Pantry or Denny's their always open

  • thay hafto go back to the bloods and crips

  • Any plans on using the drawing tablet for your daily drawing challenge? :3

  • I am just vindictive enough that I would NEVER eat at any of those restaurants again. In fact, I would do my damnedest to convince everyone I knew to never eat at any of those restaurants again. :|

Oh who am I kidding, I'm far more vindictive than that just that...

  • It's not a nap, it's a Siesta...

  • i don't get why these restaurants aren't out of business under these circumstances.

also, last month, a friend from germany i had met on the internet stayed at my place for a week, and after a few days, when i asked her if she wanted coffee during breakfast, she said, "no. the coffee you drink here every morning is the worst coffee i've ever had." i think that's still worse than the experience with your co-worker :'D

  • ya i live in LA and i have almost never seen that....when i did it was christmas O_o

  • who was the guy that disliked this video

  • I wish I worked at a place that has nap times

  • its just an LA thing.

  • i think they do that in spain because of heat

  • That "umm" what you do after you drink coffeeh ... I figure it out that I started do the same thing. It is like habit now which I can't rid of it ... but I don't want to.

  • ... California... I hate you for three reasons... It was two until I learned about restaurant nap time. Although you gave us the song hotel california so two are forgiven.

  • check your scanner settings it might have defaulted to 100-200 dpi. Here we set everything to at least 300 for a decent image. also if using a flat glass scanner make sure you clean the glass before you scan it in.

  • MAYBE YOU SHOULD LEARN TO TAKE NAPS LIKE THE REST OF US.

  • I was gonna mention siesta but it seems like I'm not the first to think of it.

  • Siesta time, baby. That's the spanish way of...laziness.

  • They're all in the back getting high.

  • Isn't it called a siesta?

  • what restaurants are these...

  • If you invited me to a restaurant for lunch/dinner I would gladly accept, I would also invite for coffee at my house... I dont drink coffee >:)

  • Well, sleeping in two segements is the way humans are MEANT to operate, but modern life says "FUCK SCIENCE".

Naping in the middle of the day is a good way to keep up your energy.

  • this doesnt happen in so cal.

  • It's called the California Siesta! Viva la siesta!

  • never had this problem in la but watch now that youve addressed it to my attention i will encounter this daily
