Absolutely gorgeous dogs. They shouldn't get the rap they do. It's the owners, not the dogs. If they are raised with love, they show love. No different to any other breed other than size and strength.

I hate when people just think that rottie's are aggressive. I work at a doggie day care and we have several rottweiler's come in. In my experience we have yet to have an altercation with a rottie. In fact the problem dog that everyone working there knows to be a trouble maker is a golden retriever, he has started the most crap out of every rottie, doberman, pit bull that has come in.
Awesome! We have a 9 month old rotty/swiss mountain dog mix who is awesome at home but we are trying very hard to get to behave outside of it. We got him at 6 months and he'd never been socialized... he's SUPER HYPER! But we love him and would never give him up. He's sitting next to me playing with a chew toy as I type this... good dog.
I wish our neighbour could see this - We have had so much **** from them purely because we have a Rottie. They clearly believe everything they read in the paper. Seb actually picked up one of our goldfish that had jumped onto the grass. We told him to 'leave it'& when he put it down it didn't have a mark on it - the fish is still alive today. He was a rescue and not properly socialised but with patience and hard work, he is the cutest, cuddliest, most lovable boy you could wish to have around. x
@Lovemyanimalfamily my neighbour had the same attitute when we addopted our rotty Dutches. She even went so far as to call the police because we did not put up a "beware of dog" sign up. If she would have spent 5mins and saw how sweet Dutches was or how good she was with small children she wouldnt have acted the way she did. really all she would have had to do was scratch her belly for a few mins and dutches would have loved her forever ;D
Its the owners that make bad dogs, nothing to do with breed. its just that rottweilers and pitbulls are what people tend to use for dog fights and such these days. just remember during world war 2 Boxers(german) and Alsations(american) were war dogs that were TRAINED to be aggressive
Best dogs ever, although its so hard to choose a "best"! When I was trying to show my then 4/5 year old son a little bit of independence by letting him go outside without me (fenced in back yard only!), I tricked him by saying the dogs had to go potty. I have a rotti and a boxer and although I was hiding behind the curtain watching constantly, nobody was coming up to that fence with those two in the yard. Funny though, the rotti looks scarier but she's too sweet to do a thing! :)
Great video. Our big Rottie girl (B-B) is the sweetest dog you have ever seen. She loves kids and plays ball and fetch all day with them.. She is very well trained, very loyal just a real sweet girl. I've had every one of the "so called" bully breeds over the years and they were no different than other dogs. It's not the dog, it's the owner that make them a good companion and protection dog or a menace. Great dogs, B-B and my English bulldog Buster, won't trade them for anything.

When I was very young (like, four or five) I had a Rottie mix. I used to pull his tail, my sisters would put me on him and make me ride him... he didn't even blink. When my other dog, Jasmine, was hunting down a rabbit, he got in her way and let the rabbit run off... he used to cuddle with my brother, sleep next to my mom when she was sick...Honestly. They are the gentlest dogs you'd ever have.
Thanks for showing the world what rottweilers actually are!! My old dog was abused when he was a puppy by many people and he hated people. Everyone knew him as the devil dog but he was great with me and my family he just didn't trust anyone else. He was an amazing dog!! He was a malamute/ collie mix and he passed away. I miss him a lot! My experience from my friends Rottweiler, is that even if you train them very well and try your best.. some dogs have a nasty side to them like my friends did.
He was very well trained and was perfect 99% of the time, and the other 1% he wanted to attack smaller dogs and a few people

@Hendrik1293 Be very careful of trying to make it huge. Over feeding causes overweight problems. Overweight Rottweilers ( or any breed ) to have major hip and joint issues which can be painful or even crippling. Go with a good quality dry food designed for large breed dogs that contains glucosamine to protect their joints. Try to stay away from food with corn especially any food that lists any type of corn product as the first few ingredients. Also reduces gas which is a plus!!
@ITSa341 I even supplement my Rotts diet with raw chicken and beef. NEVER feed them cooked chicken bones, only raw. Chicken bones become brittle when cooked. I recommend researching the BARF recipe ( Bones and Raw Food ). This most closely resembles a natural diet as seen in wild dog studies.

Chicken bones are only dangerous AFTER they are cooked. They become brittle during the cooking. Chicken a few times a year adds up to less than $20/yr. If you do some research you will find the ripping and tearing action of eating a small chicken activates glands in a dog that dry kibble or or moist foods cannot. These glands are very important for the health if the dog.
Any dry food with high protein, little or no corn, and lots of glucosamine. Blue Buffalo has a good reputation.

I got a Rottweiler at aged 2 because her owner said she was putting her down because she was unable to control her and she was aggressive.
we had her for 7 years and not once did she bite anyone or show any sign of aggression.
very easy to be trained and learned knew tricks right up until the end.
unfortunately on the 13th december 2011 (13/12/11) she had to be laid to rest because she started to limp and it was the inevitable cancer :( i can't stop crying!
No dog is born bad. Dogs are pack animals, their human family is their pack and they will protect the members of that pack, regardless of age without question. It is their nature to do so.
A vicious dog is the result of a mean master. Sadly, we euthanize the vicious dog, but not the owner that made it vicious.
People who already have a bad view on these dogs aren't going to change their minds by seeing a video of dogs playing dress-up. These are the people who have a sheltered life, and only look at the negatives in life.
All dogs are great dogs if brought up right. We owners don't need to prove it to anybody else, we're the lucky ones :)

Yeah, its not like owning an exotic cat like a lion for example. Now they must be trained because you don't want a 500 lb cat tauseing you around even when playing.

When I walk with my german shepherds on the street most of the people we pass by say to their kids or husbands or wives: don't get close! those dogs are dangerous!!
I get so irritated and anoyed by their ignorance!! I always say to them that their very sweet and gentle and big and strong breed breeds are very often misunderstood. And no matter what I need to say to change their opinion I alwys can and I get so relived that at least one more person knows the truth.
About 15 people have petted my rottie today on our walks. Every one that knows her, is genuinely happy to see her. She is easily the neighbourhood favourite dog. If socialized from young, they will try to make a friend of every nice stranger they meet on the walk.
Rotties make such great dogs: companion, comedian, and guard dog all in one...
same story as with any other breed, if any dog is only shown aggersion by it owner that is all it will know. The difference between a jack russel terrier and a rottie is that a rottie is capable of backing up its bark. it i up to the owner to teach the dog how to act. go rottie
i really agree with you, i grew up with rotties. noen have ever went for me without being prevoked. once my latest dog went for me when she had hurt her leg and i looked for swelling i must have touched a sore part because she yelped and went for me. but diddnt bite me and still has not to this day.

first dog i had when i was a little indian boy in the res, i had my older brothers dog, his name was axel, when my big bro left the reserve axel stayed with me all the time, they are very protective of their master, and their masters siblings, their good dogs if your a good person.

please tell me what kind of dog food i can feed my female rottie pup throught its whole life. starting from puppy to adult to make it look like these. i have a 6 week old female rottie and im not sure what i need to feed it to get it huge. thanks for replying! dry foods only!

@Hendrik1293 Be very careful of trying to make it huge. Over feeding causes overweight problems. Overweight Rottweilers ( or any breed ) to have major hip and joint issues which can be painful or even crippling. Go with a good quality dry food designed for large breed dogs that contains glucosamine to protect their joints. Try to stay away from food with corn especially any food that lists any type of corn product as the first few ingredients. Also reduces gas which is a plus!!

@ITSa341 I even supplement my Rotts diet with raw chicken and beef. NEVER feed them cooked chicken bones, only raw. Chicken bones become brittle when cooked. I recommend researching the BARF recipe ( Bones and Raw Food ). This most closely resembles a natural diet as seen in wild dog studies.

Chicken bones are only dangerous AFTER they are cooked. They become brittle during the cooking. Chicken a few times a year adds up to less than $20/yr. If you do some research you will find the ripping and tearing action of eating a small chicken activates glands in a dog that dry kibble or or moist foods cannot. These glands are very important for the health if the dog.
Any dry food with high protein, little or no corn, and lots of glucosamine. Blue Buffalo has a good reputation.

I got a Rottweiler at aged 2 because her owner said she was putting her down because she was unable to control her and she was aggressive.
we had her for 7 years and not once did she bite anyone or show any sign of aggression.
very easy to be trained and learned knew tricks right up until the end.
unfortunately on the 13th december 2011 (13/12/11) she had to be laid to rest because she started to limp and it was the inevitable cancer :( i can't stop crying!

No dog is born bad. Dogs are pack animals, their human family is their pack and they will protect the members of that pack, regardless of age without question. It is their nature to do so.
A vicious dog is the result of a mean master. Sadly, we euthanize the vicious dog, but not the owner that made it vicious.

People who already have a bad view on these dogs aren't going to change their minds by seeing a video of dogs playing dress-up. These are the people who have a sheltered life, and only look at the negatives in life.
All dogs are great dogs if brought up right. We owners don't need to prove it to anybody else, we're the lucky ones :)

@rmraiders24 Very much so, I have seen it happen on more than one occasion. My Rottweiler has protected not only my family but other pets in the household. Hint, the coyotes no longer come cat hunting on my property and I no longer come up missing cats.
She also backed a drunk burglar right out the door and then went and laid by the baby until the police got there. She was not overly aggressive but was very dominant in the situation. She did not injure or maim the burglar.

hi, I haven't ever owned a dog and was wondering if a Rottweiler would make a

When I walk with my german shepherds on the street most of the people we pass by say to their kids or husbands or wives: don't get close! those dogs are dangerous!!
I get so irritated and anoyed by their ignorance!! I always say to them that their very sweet and gentle and big and strong breed breeds are very often misunderstood. And no matter what I need to say to change their opinion I alwys can and I get so relived that at least one more person knows the truth.

About 15 people have petted my rottie today on our walks. Every one that knows her, is genuinely happy to see her. She is easily the neighbourhood favourite dog. If socialized from young, they will try to make a friend of every nice stranger they meet on the walk.
Rotties make such great dogs: companion, comedian, and guard dog all in one...

same story as with any other breed, if any dog is only shown aggersion by it owner that is all it will know. The difference between a jack russel terrier and a rottie is that a rottie is capable of backing up its bark. it i up to the owner to teach the dog how to act. go rottie

i really agree with you, i grew up with rotties. noen have ever went for me without being prevoked. once my latest dog went for me when she had hurt her leg and i looked for swelling i must have touched a sore part because she yelped and went for me. but diddnt bite me and still has not to this day.
rotties are really misunderstood i have yet to met a bad rottie.
