  • Thank you for everyone whom is a fan of my dad my name is caleb david Stevenson and im sure he would appreciate the love thank you all and namaste. R.I.P Louis Charles Stevenson aka B.W. Stevenson.

  • Loved BW and then all of sudden his son went to preschool with my daughter amd he lived in my neighborhood! Our little ones played together and I remember how nervous I was the first time I met him. I look back on it and laugh. When his wife had Katie, BW and I carpooled and I helped take care of his son. I still didn't have the nerve to tell him what a fan I was. Then he was gone. I look back with fond memories.

  • Still miss him!

  • Thanks for uploading this vid... A rare treat! I didn't think I would ever see him perform! He does have a couple of Austin City Limits out there somewhere. He played the first Season, episode 9. If anyone finds this episode of Austin City Limits please shoot me a link. It aired in 1976 and I missed it... ;~(

There a few CD's out there and this has prompted me to find a couple...

  • wish I had more! just lucky to get this one (even with the sub-par audio) -- don't even have the raw footage any more

  • Got any more Buck in the vault?

  • Is there a live performance of BW Stevenson singing "My Maria" on You Tube? The guy had presence - sad he died so young.

  • Wow! Great performance. Didn't have the privilege of hearing him, but he's incredible. Back up singers for BW = superfluous. Is there a studio recording of just him singing it?

  • That guy can sing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! truly talented. It's so very sad that the musicians today don't have their own style. There are so many copy cats now a days. Brooks and Dunn are one of many who used original hits to become famous. They suck!

  • Anyone remember seeing BW at Castle Creek (15th & Lavaca)? That first album of his is truly a classic!

  • I'm incredibly grateful that you've posted this song. I'm not a country music listener (as you can probably tell by my screen name), but this song is genius, as is My Maria. Thank you thank you thank you!!! Absolutely not enough B.W. Stevenson on youtube.

  • I was a freshman at UT in 1972 and Buckwheat's first album came out and that was all you could hear at our dorm all year long.......aint it funny how she takes my blues away.......

  • ... One of the best.

I would see him here in Austin and in San Marcos.

Too bad his early recordings on vinyl have not been re-released... at least I don't think they have.

  • Cactus Jack drinks coffee black...

And the wind blows me like a paper cup down the highway.

  • i seen this guy for the first time on willie nelsons 4th of july video. What an incredible writer & singer, Thanks for the upload. 38, you say when he died, far too young.

  • he opened for rod stewart&3 dog night way back when at cotton bowl? anyone remember a song cactus jack //

  • Yes, I remember that song! ... one of my favorites that he sang!...TX RedNect Hippy Gal!

  • It was called Texas Morning, I think.

  • Chuck was a gentle, lovely man. I knew him before he was B.W. or Buckwheat..he was just so much fun when we would sing together so many years ago. He made it...I didn't have the courage, but I still sing at home. RIP dear, sweet, man.

  • Thanks for this . . . listened to his stuff a lot on a cross country road trip in 1978. On an 8 track!!! LOVE his stuff! Sweet memories.

  • Used to watch BW play the Hop in Fort Worth... and he always had time to yack with us afterward. What a guy.

  • I really miss him. Every time I hear "Kix and Dunn's" version of "Maria", I think of when I got see him perform and meet with him in Huntsville '76. He really blew me away with his live shows.

  • he was a big fat bay and seemed happy as hell.and i bet he went on a fucking diet that killed him.eat up folks!and God bless B.W.!

  • PRIMO! There's precious little Buck out there on the net -- thanks for uploading my favorite song!

  • died having heart surgery. he was only 38....

  • I saw BW at Poor David's Pub in Dallas and this reminds me of what a great show he put on. It's too bad he's not with us anymore.
