Although TA guitars look and sound pretty nice, I think I'd still go with a Strat because that's the guitar that practically put Rock N' Roll on the map (Buddy Holly, Jimi Hendrix, etc...).
Man, these demos are horrible. You can't really deduce anything from this noise. Bad miking....horrible settings.....and far too much "wanking" on the guitar to really hear any tone. Really makes you appreciate the "Greg V" demos ;)
@SteveHubbardGuitar Yes barely. Carvin is a USA completely custom high quality guitar with tons of models, finishes, frets, pickups, inlays, woods, top woods, necks, headstocks, etc. When your dealing in high end electrics there isn't a huge jump anywhere, just minor improvements. The difference between say a squire and a Anderson is HUGE (like GIGANTIC), but the difference between a Carvin or PRS and an Anderson is subjective at best.
@shipleyshipster I used to say the same thing, and then I started trying out high end gear. Can't say I agree with you. The difference between a $2000 guitar or amp, and a $6000 guitar or amp, is tremendous. If it isn't, you're just not looking at the right gear. Let's take MusicMan for example - fantastic guitars, great price- yet you can still see a difference when comparing to an Andy, Tyler, Suhr, etc. We could talk about this all day, but I guess it really doesn't matter!
@SteveHubbardGuitar Carvin isn't high end? In retail stores they would go for 3 times their prices, that's like over $3,500. Your point about $2000 vs $6000, explain why they are much better. Are we talking tone, feel, finish, what? 95% of a guitars tone is in the pickup's, their placement, and the quality of the neck and fret work. 5% may be due to woods and finish. Both of which Carvin use comparable to suhr's and Andersons.
@SteveHubbardGuitar 50% of your perception is usually in response to what you expect to hear. If you pay $5k for an Anderson, you will tend to hear $6k worth of sound. It's just a false perception. If you want to say something is much better, explain in detail specific things that are better about it. Take a PRS custom 24 and explain WHY an anderson is better quality, what about it? Both guitars LOOK and SOUND beautiful, so how can there be a 'tremendous' difference.
@shipleyshipster Because sounding good is an insanely general characteristic. There are so many variables to get into! I let my ear do the thinking, and I don't believe that I experience any sort of placebo effect from a price tag. I am usually skeptical of quality, BECAUSE of companys like Gibson, Fender, and PRS. You truly just need to do more exploring, with gear, and with your ear, if you think 2k is the end of the line in terms of tonal value. Have you tried many boutique amps?

no one EVER uses the trem bar on these TA demos I want to see if it stays intune
Bflatest 5 months ago
@Bflatest I think a floyd rose might do a better job of keeping the guitar in tune, but they can be a pain in the neck when changing strings.

Whats the point of paying so much money for TA guitars?u get the same(or better)tone from a Strat!
elegyrulz 10 months ago
@elegyrulz have you ever played one? I love strats but I don't think the quality compares to a TA on any level.

I'll never understand paying this much money for a guitar barely better in quality to say something like a Carvin which is 1/4 the price.

@shipleyshipster Hmm.. Barely? Well, I guess you don't need to understand, as you won't be buying one. :P

Nice looking axe. Sometimes I just wonder if Anderson's are lacking some kind of edge to them.
