it cools down to quickly without the heat source attached to the balloon. best to use paper as the plastic bags will choke animals etc and not degrade for years and years

We used a sewing-machine to link the garbage bags together, like if they were fabric. To make the joints more sealed, we covered them with tape. Good luck with yours!
@Xhiiable You can just use one trash bag of anyzize. Get about 4 feet of masking tape and lite it and put the bag over it and wait and it will take off I tried it it rocks
nice rough draft, but what is the legality on the issue of utilizing air space? and you really should think of the safety issues. but overall, excellent work. you could try an anchor to satisfy safety concerns. you also need some device to act as a base for the fire so it can be carried off and keep the balloon afloat.
Brilliant homemade stunt for children to be engaged with! To have the idea, make it and see the successful floating result is so rewarding. Great video!
it was really cool, but it would have flown farther if you would have built the heat source into the balloon instead of having one one the ground. still awesome though :-)
Get many black balloons, tie several small flashlight to the balloons. Tie the balloons to each other to make the shapes as if it looks like a flying saucer, then you let it go at night and it looks like an UFO! LOL.....

F this video we just made one with a historic new fuel source. this 5 footer went upwards of a thousand feet vertically. and we chased it in the el Camino and watched it land 5 miles from launch point. we will be making a video explaining the best way to make a homemade hot air balloon before the end of 2008. peace losers.
Me and my brothers used to do the same thing back in the late 1960s in So. Califorina USA. We would build a fire in a BBQ and funnel the hot air from the fire through an 8" stove pipe- about 10 long into the balloon. We constructed the balloon out of thin mill plastic painter's drop cloths. We would enclose the plastic tarp by using a clothes iron to heat sealing. We used a draw sting to close the botton of the balloon-- and it would fly several miles. WILD FUN!!!
me and a friend back when i was in school took a trash bag and put helium in it and tied small flash lights to it and launched it at night...we made the front page of the paper they ran a stoy on a strange floting object. was a hoot!
Aww-it doesnt have its own power source!-In 2days I will post a video on how 2 make the BEST homemade hot air balloon-I will change the way u make these things 4ever

@Anto0044 Thank you very much. Is it okay if we will use only the tape to sealed the edges of the bin bags? What do you think?

@Xhiiable
Yes, I think so. The sewing-thread didn't help very much.

Yes, I think so. The sewing-thread didn't help very much, but of course, it made the ballon stronger.

@Xhiiable you can also try melting the bags together with a blow dyer on the highest setting.

why don't you put a string on it next time?
then you could control it in the air.

could that balloon lift a person?
bigbeefnachosupreme 4 years ago
No, it can't lift anybody. You can easily hold the ballon down if you want. To lift a person, you need a balloon that is houndreds of times bigger.
Anto0044 4 years ago
thanks
