  • I'm fucking glad i found this guy LOL

  • The music in this song reminds me of an artist I found. His name is BoatManBeats. If you like this kind of music, check him out!!!

  • I thought it was :

I am a dwarf and in diggin' a hole..

    Diggy diggy hole!

    Too bad it isnt..

  • this doesnt feel like hole digging music.. i wanted to dig a moat today

  • This dude is Sting, Peter Gabriel and the Pet Shop Boys all rolled into one and then some!!

  • @colinjames81 You can leave the Pet Shop Boys out tho...

  • @colinjames81 Exactly! When i heard 'somebody that i used to know', Sting was the 1st that came to my mind!

  • amazing.. fits my life exactly!

  • This is fecking great, now playing it for the fith time in a row ! XD

  • This fits my life perfectly

  • when i first heard it, this song perfectly described my state of mind at the time. it was one of those "this fits so well but ow ow" moments.

  • this is real music.

  • Love this music!

  • this song sounds like its about how you should stop being so critical and over thinking. and to just follow your heart

  • the 4 people who dislike this are digging their one grave now.

  • I'm wondering who tried to steal his hole.

  • No idea what the fuck SAFM is, but if it's playing this, I want in.

  • Totally agree. Gotye is awesome!!!!!

  • this is music!!!

  • I'm having an eargasm right about.......now!

  • ^^ just love it

  • tout simplement géniale !!!!!!!

  • What a delicious song. Why does it ever have to end?

  • I've just found Goyte..amazing artist...Somebody that I used to know...wow and now finding all these other delicious sounds. What a feast.

  • I must be a 50 year old hipster because I love this music!

  • This is good :)

  • People say he sounds like Peter Gabriel and Sting. Both amazing artists but.. NAH!

  • @SoyLaJefa +1, He sounds like Wally to me. I can see the influences though. I know he is a huge Kae Bush fan.

  • police

  • Have none of you ever listened to Peter Gabriel?? What a ripoff....wake up sheeple.

  • @audessysound

I instantly thought of Peter Gabriel the first time I heard him haha.

But Gotye's pretty amazing individually as well.

He's one of the only artists I can see myself worshipping.

  • @audessysound Why is emulating artist's one likes "ripping them off"? No to mention, this only sounds like Gabriel in mood, not in any actual identifiable way.

  • @LicoriceLain Well put ... I was just gonna call him a tool ... but you were so PC and for that I applaud you

  • @hardsequencer94 XD eh, we all have our own tastes. :)

  • @audessysound

I know Peter Gabriel (one of my favorite artists) and yes, this reminds me of his music... but that doesn't make it bad.

  • Thumbs up if you don't even know what SAFM stands for :oS

  • Oh my god. Who are you and where did you come from? Also, where have you been all my life?!?!! I'll for sure be buying your album!

  • I love this song..........and it makes me feel like wearing leg warmers and dancing like they do in exercise videos

  • @therampantbookworm I'm buying you a Thigh Master, little lady!

  • Someone wrote "thumbs up if you knew who Gotye was before...." The next step is wide critical acclaim, and then, almost in the same breath, "Well, I was listening to him when all he had was a drum kit made from pots, pans & trashcans. He USED to be good." As long as an artist is obscure, he's hip; once he gets big, he loses that exclusive, cult feel, and many of the earliest fans become critics. I hope that doesn't happen here. This guy is clearly pushing boundaries. He will grow and change.

  • @JeremiahEnglish Agreed, Who gives a fuck when you were listening to him it's not a contest. It is beautiful and brilliant and that's all that matters about music. It's hardly boundary pushing tho, which is irrelevant anyway, there was loads of music that sounded like this in the 80's. It's still awesome tho.

  • I just discovered this about an hour ago, and find it very, very compelling. I'm hearing the Police, Peter Gabrial, Kate Bush, Tori Amos, Nine Inch Nails, and a half dozen other influences that I can't put my finger on, but this isn't derivative -- reminds me of Beck in that regard, or QuintenTarantino. I'm not ready to use the word "genius" but give me time and I just might.

  • This album feels to me like a modern punch in the face with some kind of 80s mixed drink.

  • Gotye,,, This is such an awesome breath of fresh air on the music-scape... I can relate to the style so well! excellent!

  • Fucking LOVE it! Gotye is my hero of the hour x

  • This reminds me a bit of 'Dolce Vita' from Ryan Paris (watch?v=weMrzt6W8V8)

What a brilliant track, like all his others. How does he do it?

  • Wow, this songs just became one of my favourite :D

  • I love you Gotye <3 You're my biggest inspiration now!

  • I love this song

And so glad I got the download with the album

    Thanks Wally for this song

And I love in the lyrics how there is an explanation mark at the of the so Shut Up!

    Hehhe

  • Lets just enjoy the music and not worry about where we heard it or who heard it first

  • There should be a law that all Gotye songs have an awesome vid created for them ... approved by the great man himself of course. And this should so have been on the album !!! Hell it shoulda been an album of say 30, 40 or even 50 songs.

  • all you people that knew him before he became known, congratz, please take this rock and leave. thanks.

  • Can't wait to see the filmclip-will there be one?? oh so hoping there WILL be!!

  • this is real good

  • great song!

  • I have a couple albums & a few recording of live gigs in HD & I think the moment I realised wally was going to be exploding minds till the end of time was when I heard him do a 'screamo' style variation of part of 'learn a little givin & lovin' in the live verison, not the mention the drumming... Wally is a gun :)

  • This is so Genisis. It makes me happy like I was 5 years old in 1995 again. Thank you :)

  • brilliant! absolutely brilliant :)

  • thumbs up if you knew who Gotye was before he was being played on SAFM

  • @DesmondElBrando wow, you're a fucking magician man, you're actually the coolest. thanks for clarifying.

  • @DesmondElBrando whats SAFM?

  • @DesmondElBrando Triple J was there way before SAFM

  • @DesmondElBrando didnt even realize he was getting played places im glad.

  • @DesmondElBrando It's not about who knew about him when, it's that we have all discovered him, and he is amazing.

  • @katiej88 For sure!!!

  • @DesmondElBrando fucking hipster...lol jk

  • @DesmondElBrando what is SAFM? o.o

  • @DesmondElBrando thumbs up of that is the most hipster thing you've seen all day

  • @DesmondElBrando Thumbs up if you're tired of hipsters

  • @DesmondElBrando Stop being a fucking hipster.

  • @kurtc64 chill the hell out man...

  • @DesmondElBrando fucking hipster

  • @skyw4lka God it's like hipsters of this day and age are like hippies of the 70's. HIpster and proud motherfucker!

  • @DesmondElBrando why does that matter? if you were in his position wouldn't you be happy about your stuff to be getting out and about?

  • @longboardingVA Furthermore, @DesmondElBrando Shouldn't you be happy that you now have more people to share the art that he creates with? So some of us weren't up to date on the underground music scene, and needed a more modern means of getting introduced. I think it's good to bring our communities about 50x closer.

So, I dub thee, sir hipster of TooHipToFunctionia and hope that you either develop a sense of tolerance, or quit breathing, because you were doing it before it was cool.

  • @ADwarvenBard I love you

  • @DesmondElBrando wuts SAFM?

  • How is this not on the album? This could almost be a single.

  • @Boompa0 Totally agree!

  • BEST SONG EVER! :D

  • that 'dont worry' that's been used before on another track right? at the end of giving me a chance? what's that about?

  • Wally, this is Brilliant...many thanks for your perseverance in the early years...it has meant we could ALL enjoy your musical genius today...May your Star continue to Rise and Shine...all the best with the Album...I bought #303 in Vinyl as a gift....!!...we are looking forward to playing it....

  • your awsome

  • It's that perfect blend of calm and pissed off.

  • :) nice.

  • <3

  • Love it.

  • awesome track, im so glad i got the limited edition album (:

  • The Chemical Brothers - Dig Your Own Hole

  • My wife is infatuated by the sounds of Gotye. I can say I was a big fan long before her infatuation and I am stoked we can now share the brilliance of such an amazing artist. I wish you every success with this album and hope you continue producing fantastic music. Thank you for putting your craft out into our beautiful world.

  • @TheBattleys beautiful world... last time i checked it was a massive shit storm.

  • @TheBattleys I agree the music is beautiful, but the world is demonstrably shitty. If reality conformed to the dreams of music, it would be a paradise of surreality, and suffering would fade into the annals of antiquity.

  • AWESOME

  • Brilliant - can't wait to hear this live in Melbourne! (twice cause I'm going to 2 shows!) OHYEAH.

    Wally, you're just ace. *nod*

  • @barbeb I second everything you just said. Including the double-show-attendance. Nice one, bro.
