On the subject of "institutional" diapers, I can attest they have them even today. I was in the psych ward for 3 days (bad depression episode), they came to change me (not my thing) and instead of a attends or something, they come in with pretty much what you saw in the video, just bigger. Basically, a 30X36 inch chuck with tape tabs. It really didn't fit me so they just laid on in the front of my pants. Didn't hold squat. Huge mess. A tip, always bring your own diapers to the hospital. :)
I should have said *should* make and *should have made*. their diapers both cloth-like cover, and older-style plastic-backed. They would have the fetish market back in terms of millions of dollars.
Proctor &Gamble would make, and would have made, their diapers with not only the "cloth-like cover" (it's actually more polluting), along with the plastic-backed only diapers which are the best.
They lost out on the fetish market, and it's a bigger market share than one would think.
I think the evolution of "modern" baby care is fascinating. As a mother of 2, I have seen a lot of diaper types and there are even ways of having baby go diaper-free (I do not have the patience for that LOL). Watch the movie "Babies" you can see it on netflix, it contrasts ways in which 4 babies are raised in different parts of the world. In Africa, the baby just pooped anywhere and the mom cleaned it up with a corn cob.
There is still one US company that manufactures adult diapers in this original style, being a rectangle with only two tapes.I forget the name of the maker, they class them as an "Institutional" diaper. Why they continue to manufacture them I have no idea, there must obviously still be a market for them.According to the review I have seen for them they also have no SAP.I wonder who still buys them?
i've noticed this and am always hav been amazed that the number of people who are on here and presuming other places who remember being in in diapers. Other the plastic, there were some brands in the late 70's or made the diaper with a material that was smoother but didn't feel at all like plastic. Anyone know what brand this is?
Help me out here, I do find diaper collecting to be interesting in some form, but what makes people like them so much, it becomes a fetish? I don't mean to insult anyone, I just wanna know.
Well for me, I have had a diaper fetish from a very early age. collecting the vintage diapers brings back memories. I love the soft plastic that they use to be made of.
@pamperchu Ooh, well, the plastics are somewhat soft, i'll tell you that. Now I think i'm getting a diaper fetish! Oh well, nothing wrong with that I suppose, hehe. Thanks for answering my question pamperchu.
@pamperchu didn't u find diapers when u were a kid in ur closet, cuz if u did u r so lucky, i look around my grandma's house all the time can u tell me where to look
You have a nice pare of scissors. I have those too. They are very comfortable to use and I love them very much. And about those Diapers... They are RELICS!!!
Those old pampers were designed so that you could rinse the liner and then flush it in the toilet.
The only part you would throw away was the plastic backing. They weren't very absorbent and would leak like crazy. It wasn't elastic gathers were added in the early 80's before things improved
chances are that since you're watching this video in the first place and that you found it enjoyable on another level, most likely you have a diaper fetish. congrats and welcome to the club.
@paularichards05 I like diapers because I collect reborn dolls and I love babies and baby stuff. I liked the old plastic diapers better than the new ones.
This type of diaper is sooo cool! I remember me when I noticed that I have a diaper fetish when I was 9 years old. It was in 1977 and the style of diapers was like in the video. In Germany we had Pampers and Moltex diapers. Very nice video, thanks!
Somehow I have a feeling the small sample is just that - a sample that the hospitals handed out at birth. That's also why the "serious" matter on the package and not fancy characters or such.
Also, I'd say '60s, not '70s (why do '70s always get the rap for what came just before it?). Too much make-up on the women and too poofy hair. Not to mention the art style.
I looked it up and according to Wiki, Pampers introduced tape in '71. So I guess I was close, but not quite. But the brand was already 10 years old; perhaps not household use yet. I know my mom hardly knew about them when I was born in '69, so maybe they didn't take off yet.
well, let me put it to you like this: its something that interrests him like cigarettes, some people prefer menthol while others prefer lights or some other kind like full flavor. creepy yes but what your interested in he or she might find creepy themselves.
I was thinking the same thing. What would compel someone to buy 35 year old diapers at a thrift store and then make a video of it on YouTube? But then again, who would spend the time to watch it?!?!
its a hobby for some people and for others, maybe a fetish as to the people who watch this, they probably watch out of boredom or a bet. you probably spent so much time closed in your "perfect world fantasy" to actually see the world around you, now I wonder how humanity actually endured all these years.
I didn't know there was such a thing as a diaper fetish but I guess I live too much of a conventional lifestyle to know about such outlandish hobbies. Who knows what else is out there? Teething ring fetish? Panty liner collecting? The possibilities are endless.
LOL!!!! Nowthose are vintage diapers! No cartoon characters on them and no elastic in them at all! It's amazing to see how much diapers have changed! :)
