The way governments remain in control of the people is through initiatory force. When a government moves from a government of protection to control of the people, their resources, properties then sadly the masses suffer. IBM also has a long history of supporting charities (like United Way). It has ALL-employee meetings in its US facilities a couple times a year to support such programs.

IBM also gives employees PAID time-off to support and work for charities, with MOST of the work benefitting LOCAL communities.

IBM spends millions of dollars every year to do that.

The payback to IBM is improved community relations and some tax breaks.

During WW2 IBM also changed (at its cost) almost all of its US manufacturing into US war effort production. Weapons replaced typewriters on quite a few assembly lines. IBM didn't make a huge profit from those lines during that period.

And yes, IBM (as did many other companies) did sell products to what was at that time the officially US government RECOGNIZED legitimate government of Germany.

As far as I know, those sales stopped soon after US declared war on Germany.

Cutting fraud alone would be enough to save the system. Hospitals are often the worst offenders. I ALWAYS ask for an itemized bill. I was once charged $12.00 for 2 Tylenol!

When I had my stress test done, there was a charge for "Vaginal Packing" whatever the heck that is. It was promptly removed from my bill seeing as all I did was run on a treadmill and I do not have a vagina.

Reducing fraud and overcharges is the best way to start, not reducing benefits.

I know personally of doctors who have stopped admitting ANY Medicare patients to their practice because of current/planned cuts, making care LESS available and LESS quality competitive to people needing care.

This program provided free by IBM would've uncovered obvious government corruption and would label/identify where the monies come from, who authorized the exchange, amassed documentation exposing the said corruption, and showed who the beneficiaries were and what they did with the people's money.
