It's not that smooth at all. The track has the tendency to constantly move around making it difficult to control. There needs to be some sort of rail system in between to keep the track at the perfect distance for the dolly.
@RawPower A Steadicam (or other camera stabilizer, like those made by XCS, PRO GPI, and MK-V) is a better tool for long tracking shots. Unfortunatley to get a tracking shot with a dolly head-on, you'd need a long area of flat, track-layable area, a crane boomed out infront of the actors (so as not to shoot the track), and a few grips to run the whole setup. More expensive equipment, but the operator pays for the system, all you have to pay for is the day-rate. So cheaper for you.
the name ''k-pod'' sounds like ''kapot'' in dutch what means broken XD

Well I hope it'll come soon, long tracking shots following characters talking need them!
One more question, is there anyway to attack a kessler crane to a dolly?
RawPower 2 years ago
Mount the crane on the K-Pod with the Dolly Trucks on it. Thx

is it possible to link two tracks together on each side? make for a run of 100'?
or would the wheels dismount?
RawPower 2 years ago
not at this time. You would not have a smooth transition from one piece to the next.
