Awesome! I'm toying with the idea of raising aurelia. I'd at least like to try culturing the scyphistoma. Would it be possible to trade you something for some scyphistoma to culture, or purchase some from you?
so you have a system setup for captive breeding eh? Pretty slick. how many gallons was the ephyra tank? it looks like a regular aquarium modified to your purposes. I am to understand you must culture your own brine shrimp to keep them going?
Ya, I have quite a few tanks set up for jellies. My moon polyps started strobilating mid December. Now I've got four tanks full of ephyra. The tank in the video is three gallons. In order to keep the jellies happy they need proper water quality, flow, and enriched foods. I culture phytoplankton (Nannochloropsis oculata) to I feed to the brine shrimp which are in turn feed to the ehpyra. About half of these moons will be served as food to other jellies over the course of the next few months.
Hi there! Do you also have older moon jellies? If yes, what do you feed them with? Cool vid!
