@bsebll552 Well I cant disagree too much but they only had good equipment for a few years. Nemechek only had good equipment when he drove for MB2 & Hendrick which was only four or five years. Robby is a road racing driver and really has never settled into NASCAR except for when they are on Road Courses he can flat fly. Blaney never had good equipment, the best he drove for was Bill Davis but Bill Davis started to really go downhill after Ward Burton left
@bsebll552 As for J.D. McDuffie you should read about him because he was a great guy who was the definition for Independents. He put everything he could into his racecar and did it for the love of racing. He was a guy who shoulda gotten more help because he may have been able to win a few races

With tonight's race (Bristol, August 09) this is the first thing that came to my mind. Even though Joey Logano hit Bowyer, it was Michael who started the wreck, maybe this is why he is finally stepping out of the car?
They say that Waltrip is gay because of his voice and mannerism Well I can tell you this when I was a volunteer firefighter I knew a full time FF that was the same way and he looked like Tom Selleck with the Stache and all. We called him "Scotty Dog" cause he got all the women he met It was like meeting a chick magnet. I've seen Buffy Waltrip She is Hot! If Michael is Gay and can get women like that Then I want to be GAY!
VSTiger it's not like there arent gay guys out there who are married and have kids and can have hot wives. Think of where he comes from and imagine the backlash he would get if he ever came out. Just think of who the average NASCAR fan is.
And don't say that him winning only in restrictor plate races or that its a crap shoot in Daytona or Taledaga. These places are tough and are considered by the drivers and most to be the treasured wins in there career. Dale Sr. always wanted to win in Daytona and couldn't get one until late in his career and he stated that the Daytona win is his high point in his career. That says alot about winning at Daytona and Mikeys got 3 wins there so you haters can just suck it!
Dale Earnhart's father had zero wins in Nascar but is considered the top 50 drivers of all time. You can't compare the best of the best and say hey Mikey sucks. Mikey is in the mix at almost all the races year in year out. You don't get in if you can't race. He was on bad teams through most of his years got good with DEI but then his boss dies and all the great engine and technical support didn't play well with his mindset. Sure he still won 3 more and finished well in the top 10 with DEI.
Statistics are what you started this with and Mikey would have inherited a great team also from his brother IF he had inherited the same skills as Jr did from his Dad. Mark Martin has been around 4 yrs longer with 32 more wins. Still there are plenty of new bad drivers and STILL MW is always at the top of those lists. Stats are there for us to prove our evidence which is what YOU asked for.
Mikey did inherit skill like his brother but his brother drove for Junior Johnson with Hendrick parts. Mikey never had that luxury. Mark Martin had been with Roush racing for most of his career, he was unsuccessful before joining Roush and contemplated retirement btw.
Junior was put in the inner circle right away with his dad.

When he got hooked up late in his career with a good team he started winning. I could go into detail examples starting with Kyle Petty all the way up through Travis Kvapil to prove that.Mikey drove for DEI for three seasons and he was a very good driver those three years. Nascar is now and has always been all about good equipment first, good driving second. When you put them together you get a winning raceteam.
He had subpar cars & teams because owners do not invest millions into inconsistent drivers. It isn't wise to run a business that way. Why would they? If you want a superior team and a superior car? Be a superior driver. Earnhardt Jr 40 wins - Stewart 43 wins - Earnhardt Sr 76 wins - Allison 86 wins - Gordon 87 wins - D. Waltrip 97 wins - Petty 200 wins - Keselowski in ONLY 2 years 3 wins - Mikey since his rookie year in 86 - 23 years - 15 overall wins? He sucks.
Rattling off the statistics of 5 of the best drivers of all time is no comparison for anybody. Keselowski just got his first win. Junior inherited an amazing team from his father. Since he joined a new team he has 1 win. Mikey had the unfortunate luck to come into nascar at a time where its popularity was still rising but before the superteam era. Nobody wants to invest now in a driver 40 years old or older because there is so many young guns out there getting big corporate megadeals.

Yep... You've got to have a great car and motor but it's no accident that Michael usually ends up at the front of a restrictor plate race if he doesn't have trouble of some sort. And that's no matter what car he's driven. You can go back and watch restrictor plate races from ten-fifteen years ago. And that was way before his DEI days.

And don't say that him winning only in restrictor plate races or that its a crap shoot in Daytona or Taledaga. These places are tough and are considered by the drivers and most to be the treasured wins in there career. Dale Sr. always wanted to win in Daytona and couldn't get one until late in his career and he stated that the Daytona win is his high point in his career. That says alot about winning at Daytona and Mikeys got 3 wins there so you haters can just suck it!

Dale Earnhart's father had zero wins in Nascar but is considered the top 50 drivers of all time. You can't compare the best of the best and say hey Mikey sucks. Mikey is in the mix at almost all the races year in year out. You don't get in if you can't race. He was on bad teams through most of his years got good with DEI but then his boss dies and all the great engine and technical support didn't play well with his mindset. Sure he still won 3 more and finished well in the top 10 with DEI.

Statistics are what you started this with and Mikey would have inherited a great team also from his brother IF he had inherited the same skills as Jr did from his Dad. Mark Martin has been around 4 yrs longer with 32 more wins. Still there are plenty of new bad drivers and STILL MW is always at the top of those lists. Stats are there for us to prove our evidence which is what YOU asked for.

Mikey did inherit skill like his brother but his brother drove for Junior Johnson with Hendrick parts. Mikey never had that luxury. Mark Martin had been with Roush racing for most of his career, he was unsuccessful before joining Roush and contemplated retirement btw.
Junior was put in the inner circle right away with his dad.

My gay driver? I'm a tony stewart fan, but i'm also a lifelong nascar fan who has seen talented drivers come and go, and talented drivers get screwed over in bad circumstances with bad teams. Nascar's like any other sport, it's not fair. David Carr was a great quarterback, so was Warren Moon and Dan Marino. They were all on bad teams, their careers suffered because of it.
Same with Mikey. You obviously don't understand Nascar. Or running a business. Or much else.

25 years 734 races 4 wins 39 top fives 127 top tens 4 poles. Most of these years with very poor equipment, and subpar teams. When he got hooked up late in his career with a good team he started winning. It's a shame, Michael Waltrip is a good guy, he donates his time and money to charity, and he is a pretty fine racecar driver. Why people like to hate on him I'll never know.

It took him 16 years to win a race and it was the day that Dale Sr & Jr made it possible for him. Some say because of what Dale did for him? It cost him his life since that is the day Dale Sr died.

He won his first race because he was driving a GOOD race car. He drove subpar racecars for subpar teams for 15 years. Underfunded teams produce negative results. I could go into detail examples starting with Kyle Petty all the way up through Travis Kvapil to prove that.Mikey drove for DEI for three seasons and he was a very good driver those three years. Nascar is now and has always been all about good equipment first, good driving second. When you put them together you get a winning raceteam.

He had subpar cars & teams because owners do not invest millions into inconsistent drivers. It isn't wise to run a business that way. Why would they? If you want a superior team and a superior car? Be a superior driver. Earnhardt Jr 40 wins - Stewart 43 wins - Earnhardt Sr 76 wins - Allison 86 wins - Gordon 87 wins - D. Rattling off the statistics of 5 of the best drivers of all time is no comparison for anybody. Keselowski just got his first win. Junior inherited an amazing team from his father. Since he joined a new team he has 1 win. Mikey had the unfortunate luck to come into nascar at a time where its popularity was still rising but before the superteam era. Nobody wants to invest now in a driver 40 years old or older because there is so many young guns out there getting big corporate megadeals.

Yeah Waltrip would've been dog meat if it weren't for Sr and Jr blocking for him. I was happy for Waltrip when he got that win but I can't believe how much he went up the superstar meter after that. He thinks he's better than he really is. I liked him better when he knew and accepted the loveable loser role.

All I have to say is, yes Waltrip has won the Winston and Daytona, but he has never won anything else really. Those 2 500's were when he was with DEI and thew won all of the plate races. Yes, Waltrip is the worst driver in NASCAR, Period.

Mikey's not the best driver out there, but he's far from the worst. He's won a race twice that some drivers still dream of winning, and he won the All-Star, also a race that some drivers still have yet to win, and he won that one with the Wood Brothers during the time they were running so-and-so, no less.
He's still better than a lot of guys out there now, like Kyle Petty, J.J. Yeley, Robby Gordon, etc.

Yep... You've got to have a great car and motor but it's no accident that Michael usually ends up at the front of a restrictor plate race if he doesn't have trouble of some sort. And that's no matter what car he's driven. You can go back and watch restrictor plate races from ten-fifteen years ago. And that was way before his DEI days.
