fool..four strokes run cooler because there shitter for just about everything, power, weight, responsiveness and looks fact is four strokes are tired and sound like someone having a messy shit..also my mac 28 (little two stroke beauty) has a fan integrated into the fly wheel.....and its not a botch job
something like that needs a nice reduction box along with a control jsut for the brake. That way you can load it up with power and also control the jumping. A smooth crawler can be done, it will just take more control. Build a race seat controller with brake and gas pedal along with a steering wheel and your will get the control you need hehe.
@Kawisaki100 It works on something called "Blow by" which means some of the unburnt fuel and small amounts of oil slip past the piston (and/or rings) and lubricate the crank. Hope this helps.
very cool!! but........lets see that thing really crawl. that was not really crawling there? i'm pretty sure that thing could not go where my axial go's.... just sayin' like i said it is way cool :)
I have a FS on my buggy, the sound is very realistic. If i wanted it to go fast, i would have installed a brushless set. But i prefer sound on my buggies, especially the Picco on my Hyper!
You managed to keep the c of g quite low. I´m impressed-your critics seem to be missing the point. I have a Thunder Tiger EK4 I never use. Cooling doubts have stopped me fitting a 4 stroke. 2 strokes for car use have heatsink heads, after all. I also weonder if the T. Tiger clutch would fit my chosen 2nd-hand engine
great skill my friend to install a 4 stroke engine in that model , but it will never in a million years make a crawler , but great for bashing . . you defo need electric for crawlers . instante tourqe and controll ..thanks
Power band on 4 stroke is very linear, much like a brushless. I just installed one of these on my 1/10 scale on-road. It's instant on power just like my 1/10 scale brushless.
i understand 4 stroke is much better , and does have more low end tourqe . but the revs need to build up in gas engines to acheive tourqe ,were as a electric motor has instante power and does not need to build up revs , this is why so many peopel use electric for drift cars and rockcrawlers . . you just carnt beat them . but great project none the less .thanks .
Yes, we addressed this issue in the magazine article. This was basically just to do it because we could. Not really because we wanted to make a crawler. I've been crawling for 3 years now and know nitro's don't make good crawlers. Not with the clutch technology we have right now in RC.
It's a nosense a nitro engine on a crawler, absolutely unuseful. Stench, pollution, noise.. no smooth power on rocks without no advantage respect electric power..
RC Engines run on Alcohol with a small percentage of nitro. So the pollution you speak of is minimal. FYI NiCd, NiMh and LiPos are not exactly biodegradable lol. I wonder how you dispose of your batteries? Recycle them by chance?
I have both electric, gas cars and planes and enjoy both equally.
I have never disposed them but when it 'll happen i'll put them in the recyclable waste collection..so there is no problem..(i hope)
I used nitro (10-20% ,alcohol and castor oil) a few years ago but my throat and my nose always stinged... and it was not so good for my health and then some years ago i used 1:8 nitro buggy but now i use rc trucks like Tamiya Hilux, Axial SCX..etc.. so this is the first reason i use electric motors..:)
Interesting bit of engineering, but still a bit too fast for a crawler ;) Do you have some kind of brake fitted to stop the truck rolling back, assuming you've got a centrifugal clutch for power transmission as per a normal nitro truck.
it looks like it runs pretty rich and i'd say it doesn't rev as hi as racing engines so it probably wouldn't get overly hot. But hey i'm no expert. :)

Nice, now that's all-terrain power! Does the engine have better torque at low RPM's in comparison with two strokes?
Hionimi 1 year ago
Why all the hate on four strokers?Four strokes hold rpm better than two strokes, so would be better for crawling.
I for one thought that was awesome as hell.

This is way cooler than RC electric crawling. Now that I've seen this, electric RC crawling is kind of gay, lol.

My dream is a flash steam crawler, that´d be some good torque!

no air filter!!!!! your killing that nice 4stroke they are soo nice you could you do that!!!

se that up with some wrom gears, and a taller gear ratio, then it would be perfect

so do you have to put oil in the crank case then

I just saw a nitro getting stuck on 3 inch rocks

is that an airplane engine thanks for answering!

It's an OS 4-stroke for cars. Similar but not for planes.

@xtremerc Do you know the exact name of that engine i wanna do the same with my Tmaxx.
peepers56874346 2 years ago
It's an OS Engines FS.26...maybe with some extra numbers in there.

excellent work, what's the engine you're using there?

You can use an electric fan to keep it cool. One of the heat sink fans would work. One guy even put a computer fan on an Inferno GT chassis

hahahaha you dont have any smooth power with a bog block going up rocks either, and I would choose fun over pollution anyday.

A great project but still needs a better clutch. A 2 1/2" diameter torque convertor would do the job! :-)
