  • I really enjoy your videos. My main problem is patience. How do I get patience. If I go for a couple weeks dieting and dont lose much, then I just say forget it and eat half a cake. What do you do when your a sugar adict? This is the fatest I have ever been and gain a lot of wait everytime I quit smoking. I use to be able to skip breakfast, eat 1 piece of pie for lunch, and eat a normal meal for dinner,and no snacks. I used to be really thin. then I had a death in the family, no control now

    Eating raw is so incredebly healing that I believe they will probably go away :) I have some too. (from gaining 15 pounds when I was 13-14) And I think they will fade.

  • this is not supposed to be advertisement or something but against stretchmarks on dark skin the best thin to use is either Pure shea Butter which u find in Afro Shops and use it every day on your marks or get shea butter with extra Vitamin E inside which is good for your skin if you search TonyaTko on youtube you'll find a product which she is selling it really works good and is worth the price...good luck

My heaviest was 204 pounds and now my weight is 145 pounds ( just weight myself a few seconds ago..hehe) But there is one thing i wanna asked. Although we managed to get rid of the weight, i have so much stretch marks esp my underarms. i jog and exercise less now cos of my busy schedule. Is there anything that can help me lessen the marks. I will say it again I don't know what you looked like before the diet, but I will say it again, you have a such natural beauty, and radiance. I have to assume its because of the large amounts of nutrients from the veggies and fruit. I'm in the process of researching this diet.

  • I'm really glad that you are doing so well on the raw food diet! Keep up the great work:) I just wanted to say that while I completly love that you are getting the whole raw concept out there, I do think you should stress the importance of doing the right thing for your body. I did great on the diet for a while, but realized it wasn't for me. I then looked into Metabolic Typing and found the perfect diet and I feel so much better! OH and if you ever venture to Las Vegas go to Go Raw Cafe!

  • Holy Hell, the same thing happened to me, but on South Beach.... I lost 15 pounds in two weeks, then went to "phase 2" and introduced fruit and bread back in, then gained 30 pounds within a few months!!!

    I do eat one meal tho everyday and i haven't started the 'rules' that are in the raw detox book but so far i am really enjoying it. It really hasn't been hard.

    I'm starting to go on lifestyle change, which is hard because I live in South Asian Family, where everything is just fat filled. I've lost some weight, but once college starts up again It'll be easier, since I'm have my own fridge in my studio space that I can stock up with fruits. =)

  • Eating more "raw" IS alot easier and faster! I love the fact that I save so many calories during the day.... then I get to eat a great dinner! I would have never known that you had stretch marks... and I also didn't know you went on the Atkins Diet at one point. I also went on an extreme low carb diet.. lost 5olbs... then gained it all back. I've got the battle scars also... oh well, were still getting to goal!

  • the scale is never accurate when it comes to fat. you should start measuring areas of your body. Also your body eventually gets use to the same workouts and needs a change. i heard it takes about 6 weeks. so if your just doing the same workouts....i'd switch em up :)

Only thing I use on salads is rice vinegar..but have to be careful and read the label, most have HFCS..grrrr You do a great job explaining raw foods..will be looking forward to more info on your new challenge. :O)

    Anyone looking for a good alternative to Ranch...

    Use cottage cheese or ricotta cheese (low fat!) and a little bit of yogurt and blend it to a consistency you like. Then add the DRY Ranch (used for dips) and add as much as you like to taste. It makes a really good, low-fat, tasty dressing--not exactly the same but good!

  • I noticed you reccomended natilia rose's raw food detox diet book. I am a raw food vegan myself and am familiar with it's priciples. But i was wondering if you read her other book 'Raw Food Life Force Energy' ....

    If so ... has it changed your opinion of what she says in the raw food detox diet??? ... after reading the life force energy book as well I am becoming scared that we both have bought into a quack who skews scientific evidence to perpetuate their own ideas about food and diet.

  • rotfl.. why do people always have to point out the obvious on here? "stretch marks." yeah.. we all have them. some are just more visible than others. i got most of mine from my pregnancy and then just from being so morbidly obese. but no one has a perfect body. and anyone who thinks they do, are just fooling themselves. lol. been doing raw for 2 weeks now. i weigh in this weekend. last weekend it said that i had dropped 10 pounds, but i really think that was just water weight. but i feel good!!!

  • oh!! i remember another i was wondering.. does anyone know about bananas? are they ok when trying to lose weight? i know they have a lot of sugar and that turns to fat. but everything in moderation right?

  • Yes moderation is the way to go. I have a banana a day for breakfast, today I had two. It fills me up for a while:) I been craveing them this week. I usually eat like 4 bananas a year and now they are like my faves for the moment:) Take care!

  • i also have stretch marks from yoyo dieting before i learned to do it heathily 70lbs in less than one year.... thy are there but its kind of a reminder of where i've been and where i'm going. i love me for me, stretch marks and all!!!

  • I am trying to stick to raw for breakfast, morning snack, lunch, and afternoon snack right now. It's really VERY EASY to go raw for these meals. I think it's MUCH FASTER to grab these fruits and go, then hassle with cereal/sandwich/chips ect.

    I will take a flat tummy with battle scars any day over my current tummy with stretch marks.

    Years later, after some unhealthy dieting, once I started eating regularly again I wound up gaining 60 pounds in a 6 month period. I'm not so proud of my battle scars.

  • I lost my mind because of constantly eating home made burgers while on the Atkins diet. The last straw was when me and my mother got in an argument because I wanted some macaroni and cheese, which is not on the diet. The argument lasted about 30 minutes, lol, and I have not eaten a home cooked burger since ending that diet, I detest them now. I also haven't had steak... at all, I pretty much lost most of my desire for meat.

  • i've lost about 200 so far, still going. My thoughts? even if it takes 2 years.or 3, or 5..to lose the wt, it doesnt matter. Its not a race where you get no prize until you hit the finish line..there are prizes all along the journey..better health, energy, feeling and looking better and better all the time etc. If U do nothing..at the end of those yrs, you'll be still fat, unhappy..unhealthy, and probably fatter..so much worse off. A journey of 1000 miles begins with one step. You can do it!

We all have battlescars, and anyone who loves you isn't going to mind :) I came across a great little book about food combining, and it went really well with what Natalia says in her book- you may want to check that out for some info since you explain so much (and so well :) ) for people- it goes a little deeper into why certain foods don't work. Congrats on 100%- I'm getting to about 80% and my body is telling me to get to 100% - LOL - Nikki

  • Food Combining, A Step by Step Guide by Kathryn Marsden only 57 pages, published in 1999 for 8 dollars so I'm sure there is a cheap copy somewhere. I love it - it breaks down the whole philosophy and science of it to the nuts and bolts. I have a library copy, otherwise I'd pass it along to you :)

  • ur vids are always so helpfull! thanks!! i think we all have to deal with some type of stretch marks at some point of our lives and its usually when we are young so we kinda have them for like ... ever! i got some on my hips and boobs , so i bought at GNC "StriVectin-SD" and its working pretty well for me! you just have to strickly follow the 3x day application and u start seeing them blend with the skin!

  • I have stretch marks also, on my breasts and around my hips. I gained a lot of weight between senior year of high school and the first semester of college. They just make me remember how eating unhealthy can really throw your body for a loop. But just a suggestion: I heard that using cocoa butter on them can help make them more transluscent. I use it after showering. :)

  • cardio is the best thing to get your heart rate up..and you will burn calories.. eating raw foods wont make you lose weight..eating any foods will help you lose weight with exercise folks******

  • hey, re what u were saying abou the scales in the beginning - when u weigh yourself its hard to figure out fat/ muscle/ artificial weight etc. I use a body fat monitor. Its a scale by Tanita and it measures weight in lbs and measures your body fat %. Though I weigh 108 lbs ( im 5ft 4 and very small boned) I was 30 % body fat!!!! Im now down to 22% body fat. it is an excellent tool for fat loss and health - check it out

    yeah, i lost weight in a really unhealthy way about 10 years back, lost a freakishly amount of weight in a matter of 3 months...90 pounds and then shot right back up after i started eating the way i once did agan. talk about stretch marks. ooh baby....i got the stretch marks. but in the grand scheme of things i am eating healthier, lost all my weight in a healthy way and i can live with the track marks.

  • In response to dressings, I know this may sound a little odd, but I top my salads with fresh, homemade salsa. It gives the salad a little bite like a dressing but it's all-raw (and way more low cal).

    I've been a vegetarian for a while now, and am incorporating more raw foods. And I'm totally with you on the stretch marks. I'm convinced pretty much everyone has at least a few stretch marks, and no one should feel ugly because of them. :)

  • I love eating salad and currently eat about 60% raw. Most of the dressings that I use are from a book called How It All Vegan. The best vegan dressings I have found by far.

  • Hi Shanti just wanted to say that since you've been doing the raw food transformation, I've been loving your vids :) I love that you say that things are okay and you're not "there yet" this really applies to yogic thinking and I can relate to that as a former yoga teacher. I became overweight and stopped teaching because of being so self conscious but watching people who are REAL really motivates me. You are an inspiration to me.
