people, do not go to Juillard!, if you go there.. and you are not a very very PRO person then your life will be ruined, I mean it costs 30k USD$ a year! (zomfg) and if you mess it up, you don't have any certificates and you will be some kind of cleaner of a company... Don't risk your life for a school like this & visit a regular university.. I'm 15 and even I know that...
@tommyjongen hey watchyah mean?...I really wana go to julliard..but the problem is i live in New Zealand :O and im nearly 15 so i have lots of time to figure it out but yeah..?..explain more..?
@tommyjongen First of all, you're automatically discredited because you used "zomfg". Secondly, most private colleges cost that much anyway. Lastly, Juilliard offers degrees just like any other school. If students want to pursue music, this is a good place to be.
I want to go to this beautiful music school, but has a score but I would understand, I love music but I had the opportunity NUMC give me a chance purfavor. I am 17 years eadoro Brazilian music, I have a imail me add, if I understand adolfi_raquel@hotmail.com thanks, goodbye ...
the drama school is amazing, its one of the best in the world, lol i wanted to try out, but i chickened out, lol over 1,000 students try out and only 18 are selected!! but yeah the actors are amazing there!!
Is the drama school a good school? I've looking for the best drama schools out there like the Lee Strassberg Institute and i was wondering if the juilliard drama shool is that good`? I think it is?!
Can some one please give me advidce. at the end of high school i will have been playing violin for 6 years i am enthused about violin i practice every day. I am a strong student not only in music but in acdemics as well. I am not sure if i will have to experience, but i do have determiation. Do i have a chance attending to Julliand? Please give me a honest answer.
Hey, Ok I am in the same sitaution! By then I will have been playing for 8 years(play flute and just startede oboe) and am worried about being good enought to attend. Also I hae good grades and have been to all the honor bands, and I LOV music. And practice every day! So please give us both an answer, thanks a lot!
hey, im looking to attend juiliard as well, as an actor, and i know of how tough it could be, but i stil believe i can do it, and i think you should too :) even if someone else doesnt believe, for example my teachers here dont believe me at all in wanting to go there, but i simply think ot myself "those who believe they cant do something, cant do it, but those who believe otherwise...can" :) good luck to you :)

i wanted to try out for the juillard school for acting, but i changed my mind there are 1,000 students who audition, how can they tell whetther someone has talent enough for their little program, i mean who wants to pay 50,000 dollars a year to wait tables after graduation? i dropped my application out!! i dont know if i would have got in, oh well, lol
Check out the Juilliard website. They have basically everything you need to know about prices. Also, collegeboard gives you the ability to compare a few schools with prices, majors, population, etc...
Don't get your hopes up. That $28,000 will most likely not get you a better education than in many other places. Juilliard is mostly an empty name. The good days were back in the 1950s.
I agree with you. I studied in two of the top European conservatoires and a foundation paid me lessons there (Juilliard) in the 60s. All this top conservatoires were great then, but now they're just empty institutions, just worried about their image, about attracting the most talented and already formed students from around the world, than concerned about giving a good education. And I've complained about that a lot when I was a visiting professor in Europe and the States.
All these institutions live from their rents and from one out of their 1000 students that makes a big name internationally [usually an Asian virtuoso]. And also, these places have all developed standard artistic programs. In these programs they deliver the same thing to all students, taking very little into account the fact that each artist is unique and that the needs are different from one student to another.
Nowadays, I would not recommend anybody to study in a big conservatoire (Juilliard, Wien, London, Berlin, Moscow, Paris) but I would instead recommend finding a good private teacher and work with the teacher to develop a personal artistic language and not take the schools standard: cheaper and more rewarding.
Well said.

Hi all. I'm currently a High School Senior.
I hope to attend Juilliard next year, if possible, for the violin.
Can anyone please tell me about the prices for that school?
and how they manage to pay for it?
PLEASE contact me ASAP!
thank you!

Robin Williams got kicked out of Juilliard, by the way.
As for cool people and opportunities, that's debatable.
MarshalGZhukov 3 years ago
It makes want to go there.
As soon as I get any artistic talent whatsoever, and 28000$ per year in tuition fees, I´m there.
Very cool lady, anyway.

I don´t really want an education. I just want to have the vital opportunity that such a place can offer, and hang around cool people all the time.
I guess I´m a romantic. Plus Juilliard's location is magnificent. Plus Robin Williams is clearly my comedic hero... :D
I friggin envy you, Mr. Pianist. You´re lucky to be so young and have that opportunity.
Cheers,
Your alcoholic brother
