I absolutely love the movie, but the trailer doesn't do the movie justice. There's lots of little (mostly comic) scenes in this trailer that were apparently cut from the movie. And though there is still some heart warming comic moments left, I wouldn't describe the movie as a comedy.

To be honest, I've always wanted to see how this story continued - like how they handled the reactions of the world around them. Could get real hot there...

This was a really good movie. I wish that people would make more movies like this. The actress who played molly went on to do some pretty cool things, such as Deb in Napoleon Dynamite, and was even the main character in the music video for pink's song, Perfect..

Does this movie belong to the list "movies that black people hate cause they are made by white people and present black people the way white people think they act/live"?

I've seen this movie once, missed the beginning scenes cause of channel surfing before I stuck on watching this as I like movies that take place in earlier decades and I've always been interested about the social relations between people of different ethnic background.

And the story about little white girl whose gone to almost

catatoic state cause of her mother's death and about a black householder who does the things bit different way and manages to break the armor of silence and sorrow in the little girl is absolutely great. Sure it's all stereotypical and clichee but still awesome.

And I've always like Whoopi Goldberg, she's something that Hollywood doesn't produce these days. She's oldschool granmama of all black female actors <3

I did not remember seeing Corrina backing the car back and seeing Molly with her face painted green in my VHS movie at all. I bet this was is a Special Edition one on a DVD.
