  • Tap your the man...Little Rascals, Dial Santa, etc

  • As an aside, that Stay Alive game looked pretty neat. It helps that you get Vincent Price to sell it!

Breakaway almost sounds like "AM Magazine" (ha!)

Ah yes, that unmistakable gravel voice of Mr. Steele....

Was that a WNBC v/o at the end of the Uncommon Valor promo?

  • @DanZero77 - Re. your last question: Sure was. The late Howard Reig. His voice was at the end of a lot of movie trailers as seen on other stations besides his home station. He could be heard from time to time at the end of movie trailers on WABC, WOR, WPIX, as well as WNEW (can't say about WCBS, though I wouldn't be surprised if . . . ).

  • At 4:01-4:04, that was Lou Steele intoning, "Available at these fine stores." It does seem that, as far as representations of his voiceover work online goes, he's woefully underrepresented amongst the WNEW-TV voices compared with not only Tom Gregory and Ed Ladd, but also even Fred Scott, Chuck Caron and Peter Lucas.

  • @wmbrown6 i'm gonna have to dig more to find the lou steele v/o's on my wnew tapes.

  • @wmbrown6 Until I started following/reading up more on V/Os thanks to your help, I would have to agree. Ed and Tom were always the go to voices for commercials, program notes, news in the morning, etc. Lou didn't get too much of a chance outside of his horror show work.

  • @DanZero77 - And ironically, Chuck and Peter had more exposure, it seems, than Lou - yet they were fill-in/sub-announcers, whereas Lou was staff like Tom, Ed and (prior to his retirement in '78) Fred Scott. But Messrs. Caron and Lucas also did sign-on/off newscasts, as well as commercials, program notes, et al.
