I've seen a Turtle tank the LK for the beginning of the fight but then the Turtle died from Defile and then a dps had to tank the rest.

No, this was Pre-BC, when it was actually cool. You can see my tubers / night dragon's breath, as well as pre-BC pots etc. Also, note the date the video was posted, as being before BC was released :P

BM pets have no problem keeping aggro, especially not since the raid DPS is handling adds atleast 50% of the time.

Because a hunter pet is immune to Carrion Swarm, which is the key mechanic to this fight.
