this kit is not lacking at all on fire methods. its good for ensuring fire. it also has some good fishing equipment.

oh and i wouldent add the water purification the tin foil dose just that. fashion it into a pot put water in and boil it.

but it is still nice to have the water purification should the tin foil be made unusable.

If you had to sew yourself up would the lead(if it's made of lead) weights rubbing against the fishing line be dangerous to your skin?

If you had to sew yourself up in a emergency/survival situation, the last thing you should be worried about is a little lead on a fishing line.

make a cup out of your foil in the kit, put some water in it, and see if it holds water. Now, I know people will say of course it will. You have to try it. Because of how they have changed the manufacture of foil, when you compress the foil down like we have to to fit it in the kit, it will leak and not hold water. You can get around this by making a clay or wooden interior out in the bush, but just wanted to point out, modern foil will not hold water if it has been bent or folded.

well thats a good q ive had this for about a year now and it really lasts i never heard of herphilsons but its just flint its all the same i would sheck online for flint and steel or just the flint thats all you need because i use the back of my knife to strike the flint most of the time

the safty pinns could be used for holding stuff togeather tell you can accualy sew it back to geather. the tin foil could be used for cooking fish or boiling water.

sorry for late post but ye safety pins can be used for fish hooks, repair straps, close holes in clothing, and pin things together.

im sure there are many more uses on a realistic note i used them last month to fix a backpack strap until i had time at night to stitch it properly.

great tin! how did you jam all that stuff in the tin?! i have the same tin in my wallet and i can barely fit the stuff i have in it lol. the purification tablets that i have are individually wrapped so they fit easily

ye i played alot of tetris as a child.

but trim the items down. also those items i show in the vid all fit pretty snug + 6purification tabs and i dont pack it all in the way it came out just make sure not to damage the foil put sumthing between it like cotton.
