Mid size trucks (Tacoma, Dakota, S10, Ranger) can be heavy as well, and will sink, therefore you still need lift and tires. Lighter trucks like single cab 4 cylinders glide across the mud, so I would still lift, but run a bias ply AT, hell I've seen boys with Radial ATs do good.
