  • @PotterUK1 I totally agree!! That U2 guy is way overrated! Winwood is a master!

  • this guys great live

  • AWESOME!!!!!!

  • Wow ! Guitar is his "second" instrument, yet he is in my top five players. He is also the best vocalist ever to come out of England along with John Lennon. To cap it all, he wrote great songs like this one and led one of the most musical bands ever. Stevie has never compromised his incredible musicianship. We are so privileged to be able to enjoy such genius.

  • Stevie is simply 'the business'

  • I remember when this came out and you only heard it on underground radio stations. It was psychedelic you know :) Now you hear it in the speakers at Buffets. Traffic was truely a defining band in time

  • This is one of those songs that really comes alive when played live.

  • Saw him last year at Summer-fest. (Milwaukee,WI.) He opened for Carlos Santana,,, one of the best concerts I've seen in my 35yrs of concert going. Steve hasn't lost a thing, everything was spot on.

  • @Jackle61 wow wish i woulda been there that sounds like a dream combo

  • @JustAintthatWay Same year couple nights earlier saw Roger Daltry back up Eric Clapton, ZZ Top backup Tom Petty, free concert by Sheryl Crowe, Uriah Heep, Jeff Beck, BB King, Moody Blues, and the list goes on. 2010 was a great year for SummerFest. 11 days- 11 stages,,, it's hard to beat.

  • Trip to this you dippy hippies ... me too!

  • Most UNDERRATED singer of all time...

  • That's the same shirt he wore in The Spencer Davis Group in 1966.

  • play us a tune pitchblend witches~ bitches with piitch forks ut ut play ut a tune ut ut gammon gammon pitchblend steve Winwood i can play a mean empty 1 liter empty bottle ut ut lower baby lower. • Chambers Dictionary of Etymology play you a song. Don't worry be merry gay gaia jah happy gay cat underground prison? Logical Choice. Chambers i said shot gun shoot it before it runs. Schrodinger's cat 1935

  • My son who just turned 22, asked me to recommend a few good rock tunes for him to listen. I told to watch this video, John Barleycorn Must Die, Mountains - Nantacket Sleighride and Lynrd Skynrd - Freebird. Hope I managed to convert him????

  • Great song. Didn't realise the SW was such a great guitarist! Drummer is a monster as well. Songs from this era need to be passed on the the youger generation.

  • awesome vid......this is one of my favorite tunes to play, and add sax to of course!

  • waldo impersionante

  • Stevie looks likes he hasn't aged a day since the Spencer Davis Group days...tell us Stevie."how do you do it"?

  • Just a reminder to current muscians that people back in the day used to actually sing Live.

  • That's right smoke shit ass holes

  • You 90's punks put this in your pipe and smoke it....

  • Is Steve n this drummer for real or what da f*^~k Brillllllll

  • Killer version of a great tune.

By any chance does anyone have the version from the Jammys a couple years back? Winwood had one of the best solos I've ever heard and I can't find it anywhere online....

  • Great song, great musician....

  • stevie is the best, and that was an inspired bit of drumming

  • what a great performance.Steve kick ass!!!!!!!

  • Seen Traffic open up with this song for the Grateful Dead in the 90'. Copy and paste /watch?v=ur3xGSfvxV0 into your web address after youtube.com. This it the actual concert footage.

  • Comment removed

  • Excellent drummer. Needs to play the same but softer, he's overwhelming Stevie.

  • @EdVidz Not if you play drums !

  • so underrated...

  • fantastisch nummer een van de 10 beste ooit

  • fantastische muziek, wreed goed tekst, rock ' roll

  • wreed goed, duust keer in mijn auto gespeeld en 2000 op mijn gitaar

  • I saw Steve open for the Dead the same summer as this vid, June 20 2003. Steve came out and "guested" on this song with the Dead backing him. Awesome.

He also did Voodoo Child (slight return) with his own band. Whew!

  • he never lost it hes one of a few that gets better with time

  • Good job on video. Watch for new release from BRANDON JAROD, coming soon!

  • Drum on Wally,,, See ya soon man...

  • My friend Wally Walfredy Reyes Jr on the drums. Drum on man. Love ya...

  • this was always such a pleasant trippin song.

  • This song captures some essence from that late 60's early 70's time period, that was in the air and spirits of people.

  • look at that sunset!!

  • Timeless classic.

  • I like this version even more than the original! Great work by an amazing artist! :)

  • winwood still has it!! killer....

  • what is this video doing with more views than same song on Cross roads festival? that version blows this out of the water

  • Steve Winwood is an excellent musician. I keep coming back to this vid thinking "oh yeah I forgot how good this is."

  • @crockettcoulter ditto, me to!!

  • q desempeño de drums ....lo máximo

  • flipping aorund the other night I caught an old Austin city limits ..on PBS with

Steve Winwood.... I've know and palyed the High life, Roll with it... early 90's Steve Winwood stuff 100's of times... it's ok.... BUT I didn't know this guy could play a Gutair like he did on this one song ...I had always thought of steve as a keyboard dude.... hell, I was blowen away! Cool when an old Gem from the mines just jumps right in your lap~!

  • @MRCUTT3 Winwood played lead guitar with TRAFFIC in the early 70's. He is melodic rather than fast on the guitar.

  • Genius at work.

  • When I go to bed I love to play this song...

  • Dear Mr. prdwilson: I did realize that part was done on keyboard. It does give the song a whole different feel, much lighter than a bass guitar, which has a much heavier backdrop. I still love it, either way. Don't you agree?

  • superb

  • The artist maybe gone to some, but the music is still here and always will be.

  • Hmmmm.... Did I miss something here, or they just do that entire song without a bass player? It just seemed they had a keyboard player, drummer and Steve on guitar.... Unbelievable how great the song still is, even if the bass was missing here... Very cool.

  • @theriversong1 randall bramblett did the bass line on the keyboard,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

  • @theriversong1 You know I wondered the same thing. I don't see a bass player but I still hear a bass line.

  • was this at ACL Fest?

  • My/Our Gerneration of Musicians 60's 70's are like my Grandparents Generation. The absolute Best of all time. We would like to have them back but we just cannot. It's not supposed to be that way friends. We had them, we loved them and still do but no other can replace them. Ever.....

  • @MrCebrown01Hi, ur comment reminded of some words that were spoken by Albert Einstein when Gandhi passed-- "Generations to come will scarce believe that such a one as this walked the earth in flesh and blood.”

  • @MrCebrown01 I agree not unless LSD became widespread again.

  • Chills down the spine...S.W. is the goddamn king!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There's something supernatural about this version...its always been a masterpiece but holy god, this is spectacular....what guitar/drums!!

Just saw Winwood/Santana show...mind blowing....see it if you can! I might have to start following this guy 'Grateful Dead style'....

  • looks like the same guitar as he played for this song in 1969!

  • was this at the acl festival?

  • Excellento! More - much more!

  • TearDrop by Massive Attack springs to mind in the verse... I'm 15 and I think this song is awesome! Downloading it as soon as I get the chance.

  • Can't get tired listening to this song!

  • Steve and Eric played an amazing version of this song as their encore at Wembley last night, i'd forgotten what a brilliant musician he is....thanks to you both for a truly great show!

  • now that is old school rock good focking deal ty jr714

  • Always loved this song, especially guitar's

  • Happy Birthday Steve!!! 5-12-2010

  • CSN do a good cover of this song!

  • Passt zu Steve. Rhythmuswechsel , schöne Stimme und alles geht locker vonstatten. Gittarrensound vom Besten. Was soll man dazu als Deutscher noch mehr dazu schreiben, auch wenn nur die Briten und Amerikaner ihre Kommentare abgeben.

  • This guy is amazing. He plays every goddamn instrument known to man, and he's been around since the Dark Ages.

  • Wish I had been born in the 50's so I could have tramped around the world to hear musicians like Steve W. Unfortunately, I was born in 62 so was not allowed at Woodstock or Monterey. But, am diligently pursuing second gen appreciation. Can anyone tell us why Keith Richards fell out of a palm tree? No one ever 'splained that. Hee hee.

  • see him in july with santana in toronto....should be a good show....two great guitarists, just playing!

  • i think this was in new orleans or lousianna somehwere wasnt it?

  • Awe. Complete and total worship.

  • stellar performance from lil stevie winwood, there was I thinkin' he only tapped the keyboards where he can swing the axe on a six string just as well if not better..top darts, massive thanx and respect for postin' Jah Bless

  • Great Steve, fantastic song!!!

  • Who needs Mozart when there is Steve Winwood?

    Dear mr. fantasy...

    Thanks for placing this beautiness!

  • in this world, power is in the music...this song is proof

  • grande artista, intramontabile. qualsiasi cosa faccia e' sepe al massimo

  • wow... amazing song...

    great solo...

    real music....real mjusicians.....

    awesome.

  • I can't stop playing this song!!!!!

  • Psychedelic masterpiece. Summer of love. This great song covers the spirit of 1967 together with "Seargent Pepper" and the "Thoughts of Emerlistdavejack".

What a great musician Steve Winwood is.....

  • gotta be honest though stevie

the arrangement is boring and goes on too long

    as usual

but your pipes give me chills dude!

  • oh my god!

    very nice.

I'd say Stevie is one of the most amazing singers I've

ever heard and still has the goods.

    Right on brother!

  • Found the audio version of this song on his webpage and it is nothing short of sensational. Gets a flogging in my car.

  • Steves voice is still so wonderful. He is one of the best.

  • Thank-you mister fantasy for a absolutely perfect version of this track,id hate to think what rocknroll woulda been without you

  • This has got to be one of the most blistering performances of D.M.F ever!!!!!

    S.W. is a MONSTER guitar player...holy CHRIST!!

And that drummer is awesome too!! Who is that guy?

  • Killer voice...even after all these years

  • i wish musicians could reawaken themselves to the past and realize how rinky-dink they sound playing like they do now. sounds like MIDI. winwoods voice is still good

  • Steve was a huge fan of Ray Charles as a kid. You can tell it in his voice. And these guys didn't have pitch correct o rthat kind of electronic helpers to rely on.

  • @EyMeng Can't do it. Not with the "powers that be" in charge of getting that fast buck. That means telling the most profitable age group what to listen to: cheap made shit that they control. I don't mean to make the "New Generation" take responsibility for it. Just the way the money pumps.

  • This is brilliant - love Steve's voice and it helps he is a fine thing too ;-)

  • wow that was cool xxx

  • ...toenail curling solo..the song brings tears to my eyes.. thank you very much indeed for the upload. ..

  • Remember hearing this for the first time late one night on WNEW-FM in NYC. It was like an anthem and I was lifted to another place by the music. I didn't think anything could be better than the original recording but this live version blows that away. SW's vocal has all the perfect nuances of the original and more. His phrasing on the guitar is dead on flawless. He makes it look effortless and you can see him enjoying himself too. He is a gift to us.

  • Thanx or this! Ill see him in D-dorf or Hamburg this spring (with Clapton!!!).

  • wow!!! always loved this song.what an excellent performance!thanks for the share tim!

  • awesome

  • Man this is sooo chill, i love this song!

  • still has a voice of a god...so is it true he started Spencer Davis Group when he was 14? i really love his stuff from Blind Faith...well all of it really. ;^)

  • Thank you for sharing a magnificent performance of the master at work. Pure art

  • Fucking Narly

  • One of the BEST ever! He's my Dear MR Fantasy when he sings and plays that guitar like he's making love to it! xx Nothing like a man who knows how to make a guitar cry mm mmm mmmm x

  • Jimi Hendrix was impressed by the Beatles, but he was intimidated by Steve Winwood.

  • Paul McCarty and Steve Winwood are both genius there is no way to compare them because they each created music sounds that no one has ever heard. The musical creations of each of these composers become a force of nature. Whereas Paul is the Beethoven of rock Steve is the Mozart of rock

  • @defleppardfan10 correct....

  • @defleppardfan10 Very well put, i must agree with that.

  • this song is great and Steve as well

  • FANTAS.....TIC!!!

  • ARTWORK

  • Genius at work

  • P E R I O D !!!!!!

  • still with the wicked lime green guitar after all these years......

traffic and blind faith (although not many albums) are 2 of the best groups that ever were in EXISTANCE and you can stuff dave mason and ginger baker and eric clapton up your asses..(just kiddin of course) STEVE is and was clearly the best....please dont reply to me with cream stories..or mason's solo career with the writings of Krueger.or baker or yard byrds..etc. i know the deal and the deal is STEVE IS THE BEST !

  • I have to agree with you, cholulasaucehot. Steve Winwood is the single most talented individual in the history of rock music. He can write, sing, and play at world class levels.

  • Have you ever heard about a guy called Paul Mccartney...?

  • Yeah but he doesn't sing as well as Steve and his guitar playing isn't as good.

  • A matter of taste I think....

  • Absolutely! Music appreciation is totally/ok almost completely subjective. It's like Yngwie Malmsted. He is technically one of the greatest players to ever live, but when people mention great players, his name rarely comes up. I think most people would agree that SW and PM should be in the greatest category, and whichever music you like the most decides where they fall.

  • Ok don't get me wrong, I really like Steve Winwood and I love Traffic, but, there's no way you can put them on the same field, Mccarteny's song list is waaaay bigger than Winwoods, Steve is an outstanding performer but Macca is a genius, and I'm not talking about just songs, i mean great songs that people listen everyday thousands of times, world is not that naive to believe that this s just because of marketing

  • Steve Winwood is on the same field not because I put him there, but because public opinion puts him there. Yes McCartney's list is bigger, but bigger doesn't equate better. Yes a lot of McCartneys popularity is due to the Beatles and marketing. We sing songs that we hear thousands of times. If they played Can't find My Home as much as Lucy in the Sky, they would both have the same popularity. Mac is a genius, but so is Steve and Steve is a better musician.

  • There aren't many people who can sing, write and play at the same high standard.

  • you need some lessons on objectvity vs subjectivity, my friend.

  • im no friendo of yours......punk

  • Awesome song!!!

  • Wow, that was truly amazing..Winwood, I believe, is one of the best vocalists of our lifetime...

  • sounds even better live than on the album..amazing song

  • wow

  • Amazing!! Just can't stop watching this video. You talk about Steve,but...what about Walfredo Reyes Jr. at the drums?? Wow! One of my favourite songs ever, thanks for sharing

  • From moment 5:01 onwards makes me greatful that I love Rock music. Long Live Rock n Roll.

We used to rock to these tunes in the 5's Chatsworth, DBn, SA. Wow those were the days

  • His smile at 5:49 makes me smile...Winwood kicking ass and taking names...

  • 5:39*

  • @DeadInTraffic i wonder what it must be like to have written such a masterpiece A

and be able to improve upon it in your live performance B id like to think

in that grin you speak of it's winwood digging knowing he's done both of those things

  • mitico steve!

  • Steve Winwood has way too much talent. You could tell he knew he was kicking ass by the smile he had on his face at the start of the second solo. I wish Eric Clapton had kept some of his 60's fire like Steve has.

  • yes I agree he sounds great, what a great song

  • Actually I think Steve Winwood has improved with age since the Blind Faith days..I seem to pick the newer versions with Eric Clapton to keep as special treasures in my collection..

  • Amazing, breathtaking, flawless vocal, I am stunned at how such a gifted singer can just sound better and better! I loved this song for years too and believe his voice is fuller, richer and better than ever now, in his 60s, than when we all started digging him at age 15! Thanks for posting this gem.

  • Love this guy..and song........wonder if someday I will miss these days as much as those days............dont think so, but it would be nice.

  • Such a great song! Saw it live!

  • Jesus! Hearing this took me back to some awesome times...thanks for this post.

  • I remember when Steve Winwood was 17 LOL.. He was great then & now.

  • shit how old does that make you???

  • goose flesh !!!!!!!! :-)

  • A true blues man!!!!

  • Steve is amazing...........

  • awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Nice Sky ! Looks Like Fairbanks Alaska a bit in the dead of WINTER ! dark 24/7 , colors flowin' Woooooo !

  • Woooooooo !

  • Wow, that was awesome. Everything about it...the vocals, the guitar work, the drums...and even a gorgeous sunset to top it off.

  • saw him in omaha on 6/20 with clapton he rocked what a talented performer

  • anyone have a tab? pleae

  • my gosh, i hate it when people ask this on a comment. What do you except people to do? send it to you in a youtube message? Just google "dear mr fantasy tabs" and you'll get it! lol

  • I never knew Steve Winwood could play guitar, I always thought of him as a keyboardist. Not too shabby at all.
