Awesome work, I tried to get one of those models so I could do it for my Linux class, but I had to do it on a video ipod, so I didn't add video capability, but got everything else. Did you do it all command line from Linux, or did you do the half and half windows Slax way?

Nice. Linux has better battery management so it lasts longer even if you do play those games on it. Linux tops Apple once again.

that's not true at all "linux" is a very broad term, you can not say that linux is better than something else because its not a fair comparison. I believe the linux that the ipods run is a port of an OS / kernel called uClinux. And in my experience you can get about 2 hours on a new 4th gen ipod in linux which is crap compared to the ~14 hours you can get in iPods Pixo OS

The long and short of it is: Pixo OS is specifically designed for one single use, and is therefore very efficient. Much more efficient then some PORT of the uClinux kernel.

yes, if u install ipod linux than u can still access the origional ipod firmware and listen/watch all of your music and videos. i installed it on my video 5g and i love it, it's the best thing EVER.

Just curious. If the nano has the ability to run videos I wonder why apple chose not to include that option. Is it a money thing or are they worried about overheating the videocard or processor.

Apple probably built their software for the iPod based on OS X. Linux is much faster and smaller, and therefore manages to both play videos, games, and run applications. Also I would guess that the Linux iPod drivers are very good.

i HAVE THE new 80 gig iPod AND the NEWEST 2nd gen Blue 4gig iPod Nano!! .and if your looking at proportion look at the dudes finger!! now take your nano (if you even HAVE one and think you know what your talking about) and put your finger on it like this guy did and see if it looke the same. Plus the nano's screen is WAY smaller! Graphics wouldnt be able to be seen very well on a nano. Point proven! Helps to HAVE the BIG iPod AND the Nano! just FYI again..
