  • Did some of the guys decide to have an underwear run? I know it's the year 2000 (eons ago, I know), but I don't think those were shorts styles, even back then..... :P

  • In my opinion...one of the best if not THE best drumline in drum corps history!

  • 1:40 to the end and the ghost note decrescendo at 1:52... SOOOO SICK!! Best line, Best show of 2000. Really enjoyed BD and Cadets shows as well..

  • my question is, is this the 3rd movement or 2nd movement?

  • my percussion tech is the 3rd snare from the left

    he is so awesome!

  • SO close to being absolutely perfect. Tight, musical, It's incredible how they phrase their rolls and have such consistency from drummer to drummer. Probably one of my fave drumlines ever. I think I'm gonna watch it again. =)

  • I was there live at finals. Cavies brought it that night.

  • Really interesting technique snare to snare. Wonder what the mentality was (beyond the obvious "Have absolutely no tension.")

  • @cwsmith73 It's all about sound quality. The technique was designed with that specifically in mind. And after playing it for a while, it actually is pretty natural.

  • A couple dirty moments (1:45 for example) But really that's all there is to it. Really tight playing, awesome phrasing, and great interpretation from drummer to drummer. This is also one of my fave front ensembles (possibly the best...forgive me if you disagree) that I've seen from the Cavies.

  • yeah tenors!

  • 2000 it's been a good year for the cadets' too.. i think that their show was a little less boring than the cavaliers'.. great job anyway

  • boxer run? i think yes

  • Why do people talk crap on these awesome Drum lines as if they could do better?

  • sweet advanced attack by the drumline ahead of the pit sound. not easy to do.

  • day-yum

  • this is the drumline that got me into drumcrops

  • LOLOL @ the majority of the line being in their boxers hahahahaha.

  • omg i love the cavies..... i remember when i saw this on tv when i was in highschool. Yelled out so loud when the snares were bobbin their heads to the grove part.

  • Splooie!

  • My favorite Cavaliers line, also my favorite Cavaliers book. This was a special year.

  • :23 Stock.

  • @johnpaddie yeah, it's a rock beat, dude. hence stock.

  • Are DCI basses just tuned really tight because I can barely hear them and my high school's basses are really ringy

  • @unusuallynormal231 plug in some ear phones and you'll hear them just fine.

  • coolest. drum break. ever.

  • You are right, I am well respected. I don't care for all of the technical excuses. I base my actions on absolutes; if it sounds thick, then its dirty. Simple. My comment was for a few seconds of a 2 minute video. In no way was I shitting on them as you said.

  • oh you mean where the left hand goes to upper right edge of the the head, which should sound shorter/lighter than the center of the head, can you tell the difference?

  • One of my fav shows ever. This line is really great.

  • not quite...

  • i know this is 6 months ago, but i'm gonna have to back up my man tacomeet on this one, there are a lot of factors unaccounted for to make an objective judgement as to whether or not there is a "dirt fest" at 1:40 and beyond

some of what i heard that was distorted was more of the side-to-side relationship between subsections

  • nice crossovers from snares

  • dayum! that was hot!!!

  • is there anyone around who still does this technique? I kinda miss it...

  • that is amazing

  • In a way I wish the cavaliers would go back to the strict technique and kuhn days. I guess the past few years they had to change their styles due to the music being played (laid back stuff) but I have to say I miss the old days

  • SCV-esque aint too bad though.

  • lol i dont know i think the Blue Devils Freaking stomp these guys by a mile! its my opinion so Dont Be hating

  • gah :(:( this makes me so sad.

right before i was going to try out for a corps snare position this season, i tore my rotator cuff

  • good lord. that tenor feature is squeaky clean. oh and Mark (Astro). I see you!!!

  • Sickest line I've ever seen in the flesh. That may not say much for my years of watching lines, but these guys made you take a step back and assess what was really happening in front of you.

Sorry, not to overanalyze or overstate. These guys were the balls. End of story.

  • the most accurate statement on here

  • Great, but their snares sound so weird.

  • MAN! SOOO GOOODDDDD

  • Fucking retard, you obviously don't know anything.

  • im loving the boxer run through!

  • Ah yes, the boxer runthrough...a sacred tradition for many a corps.

  • ....they're so...CLEAN....

  • This was a great drumline... All in favor??? AYE!!!!!!!!

And you doubters... It's just so transparent that you've never done anything with your lives. It just is. Take it from and aging vet and enjoy sweet playing wherever you find it.

  • where did you march?

  • nowhere, he/she doesnt realize how corps like these put so much intensity into a drum and still be relaxed

  • I also have to say that Cavies' snare technique is weird. There's also not too much emphasis on accents, it seems.

  • well the idea is if there are 9 people doing it there is no need to overdo it, I think it sounds better that way.

  • NO! NO! YOU'RE AN IDIOT!

  • Oh yea after some thought its weird man not pounding accents i've never seen anything like it, its amazing and weird and out of this world!!!!!!!!! I can't believe I was such an idiot sorry friend.

  • Goddamn. I'm learning this right now for snare. First time I've seen them play it. All I can say is just: God damn.

  • does anybody have the tenors parts to this

  • best drum line ever

  • Thank god for youtube

  • I love bassque.

  • i love this part
