Oh you bring back great memories I remember this show. This started me into the old monster movies and late night horror shows. Thanks for bringing back my childhood and late night tv memories. this is a treasure piece of film. Thanks for sharing it.
Wow! I'm so glad there exists some footage of Larry Vincent. I have hundreds of hours of audio tape of him, but no video. Still have my Seymour Membership Certificate, button, posters, and t-shirt. I even visited him at KTLA Channel 5. The man had a sharp, comedic wit. This brings back great memories. Saturday night, pizza and Seymour. I really miss him.
WOW! I hope somehow there is more. However, for some strange reason, I recorded the audio on casettes of most of the shows. They are fun to listen too, now and then....
BTW, see if you can get a hold of a TBC (time base corrector) and recapture the footage! That'll eliminate the issue the video has. it looks like dropped frames. Rare video!
In Wichita Kansas, in the late 1970s, one of the local stations used to show classic horror movies and used footage from Seymour Presents. This was before everyone had a VCR, so I made audio tapes of Seymour's bits, which I have since lost. I wonder if any of those stations have the Seymour footage they used?
Yes he was. I remember watching him as a kid on Saturday night. It was not a kid show by any means. There has got to be more tape out there somewhere! I remember back in 1975 when he had to stop because of stomach cancer. He did his last show just before he died. Truly sad. He is missed after 30 some years. Anyone know where he is buried?
There MUST be other Seymour clips somewhere. Seymour was uniquely off-beat & corny. The 1970s was a great era. The Vietnam War ended, people still had their Constitutional rights, and hitch-hiking was a safe & viable way to travel. Seymour was better than all of the movies he played & was a perfect example of the 70s. This video is a rare treasure. There's got to be more out there somewhere.
You are so right. I remember falling asleep toward the end of his movies just about every week when I was a grade-schooler in Lynwood (L.A., in the middle of Watts, Compton, Downey, and South Gate), begging my parents to let me stay up again. All the lights off, face-down on the couch, one eye open, and my man Seymour on the tube...
....and here I thought that 'Everything' video-wise of Seymour was never to be seen again! Even 'tho this wasn't aired-what a magnificent find! From one fringy dummy who used to watch Seymour on Channel 9/5/then back to Channel 9 again: 'I'd say thank you--but it's not my style.' ;)
'Bad Evening'....
Aww-to heck with it, Thanks so very much for bringing back many memories!
FAN-TASTIC! I'd contacted the owner of this footage about possibly getting a copy, but this is even better that the whole world can see Seymour once again! He was a real hoot and a real SoCal treasure back in the `70's. It's a real shame that his tapes were used over because his shows would still be funny today. I was so bummed when Larry died so young. If anyone has any more clips of Seymour, please post them or let me know. Thanks so much for posting this incredible find!
What fun! I watched "Fright Night" on cable in Bakersfield every single weekend -- belonged to the fan club, had the bumper sticker on my first car, etc. He came to Bakersfield once and was just fantastic with we kids and teens who thronged him.The story posted by "RocketMoto" shows what a great guy Larry Vincent was. I love watching for him in old (duh) episodes of "Get Smart."
How cool. Thanks for posting this. My dad and i used to watch this on Sat nights I was 13 or 14. When cable TV first came to our city (Santa Fe, NM) it consisted of 4 of the LA indy stations and not much else. Great memories of staying up late and watching "the master of the macabre". You left us too soon Larry.
Amazing!! Haven't seen this in years!! He was the best! I have cassettes of the show somewhere. Still have my membership club stuff!! Thanks for posting this!!!
REALLY TERRIFIC! Around 1971, I rode my bicycle to KHJ with my childhood pal, Jonathan, whom I used to watch Fright Night with. We asked to see Seymour and he came to the guard's gate, and took us on a tour of the station. I volunteered to help in the office, and he took me up on it. For some time, I would go to the station, answer phones and mail Seymour Certificates and photos out. Great fun for a 13 year-old! I still have some photos, a Seymour poster and a script from one of the shows.
@RocketMoto Seems you may have lived near my old neighborhood, did you ever make it to the Wiltern Theatre at Seymour's mid-nite "Scream a-thon show" ?. You got a prize for the most "Macabre scream".
Let me join the chorus of "THANK YOU"s that must be coming in at a deafening pace......I lost all hope that I would ever see video footage of "Seymour" and he would have to just live in my memory. But this one minute is the Holy Grail for us Los Angeles residents who watched Larry Vincent - and still miss him 36 years after he left us. Oh, how I hope there is footage in somebody's basement or attic (or under someone's bed for that matter) - we can always hope.......
@docmallard2 They were destroyed... actually taped over. A station employee started collecting his own blooper tapes and this little treasure was among them. Click on 'show more' above for more details.
Seeeeeeeeymour! Love the Adee Do commercial at the very end! Did anyone recognize that!?! I can still remember that jingle, too! And now it's time to step behind..........the slimy wall..........
Thanks for posting this! It's great to see Seymour again, after all these years; this is the first video file of him on Youtube! Does anyone have any more video clips to post, or know of anyone else who has them?
You are very welcome. It was so great to find this file- given to me by someone that just read my book on Seymour and the rest of the Horror Hosts from Southern California 'Creatures of the Night That We Loved So Well', Check out the link at the top of the details... there's sound files on the Table of Contents link of other hosts. Plus if you look at my other videos here on youtube, you can see a video of Seymour before he was Seymour... Captain Starr.
Really loved Larry Sinister Seymour Vincent and miss him. Plan on watching all the clips anyone has posted of him on YouTube. Love them! Thanks so much!
