Love the Chris Poland solo in this, Drover cant play it that good but the album is SO under-listened. I just realized there's another pearl in Deths discography ^^.

@TheThrashingDeath Sounds like a fairly regular human inflection there. Not to mention there are slight imperfections throughout his performance not consistent with a live pitch corrector.

I didn't mean a live pitch corrector BTW but I was talking about a studio correction during the mixing process. And the imperfections you mentioned are due to an incorrect usage of the pitch corrector itself. Dave Mustaine was never able to sing like that, even when he was young, and his vocal performance is too "perfect" here to be natural. I have nothing with pitch correctors, mine was just a statement.

K, I for one have enjoyed Glen Drover's past guitar rhiffs and solos with Megadeth. But honestly, what happened there at the end with the guitar solos? I mean he did a good job covering what Chris Poland did for the album, but it was still GARBAGE. Chris Broderick's done some cover's of past Megadeth solos that sound absolutely IDENTICAL to the original guitarist for the solo. And to top it off, Dave's solo was flawless! Dave pretty much took Glen's guitar, turned it sideways....etc.

This is too the guy who says the drums are weak on this album. Do you know who played on that album? Any clue? Only one of the best drmmers to ever touch a kit. I'm not saying the best drummer in my opinion, I'm saying literally one of the most respected awesome drummers who Dave could only afford for three day, thats Vinnie Colaiuta Look him up. He is doing things on the album your ears aren't capable of hearing, that Shawn cannot duplicate, trust me.
Finally someone with sense. Vinnie Colaiuta is the best drummer ever in my opinion. He's played with so many different artists of so many different styles. He's a god behind a drum kit.
Also Glen Drover = Solo fail. Every 4 notes he cuts off and does a note bend, talk about trying to copy Poland.
Broderick is flawless at playing other peoples solos.. but I just don't like his original solos on the latest album. He's overly technical, robotic and downright boring. He's no where near Marty Friedman or Chris Poland as far as melody and creativity... but he DOES kick ass live!!

When I hear a Chris Poland solo, I know it's a Poland solo. When I hear a Marty Friedman solo, I know it's Friedman. When I hear a Drover or Broderick solo, I just hear a generic rock solo, completely unoriginal.

Drover had some pretty cool solos, but nothing too special. KIMB wasn't a melodic album, it was just a technical album. Peace Sells and The System Has Failed has amazing solos

i think this is a great album here..system has failed brought back old elements of megadeth..the only think i dont like in the album is the drums..which were recorded in like a few days..i think it has very weak drums for a megadeth album and you can understand the difference in this live video were shawn gives them proper sound. but anyway this album has songs that remind of old school megadeth..like''die dead enough'' or''back in the day''... this album was underrated. I do not like the latest two deth albums but TSHF was pretty good. bringing poland back for the solos was an awesome choice. Dave kept it pretty heavy while keeping catchy vocal hooks that are lacking from the latest two outings. the session drummer did a pretty good job though. Really miss menza and friedman though. wish they could reunite for just one album and go all out.
you're right, TSHF is underrated. i don't think UA is as good, though Washington is Next is one of MD's better songs in my opinion! i think Endgame is on par with TSHF, still not AS good though...

Megadeth's lineup was like a revolving door in the 80's, but even more so now. That's just Megadeth. If Metallica started changing lineups all the time, I think it would be a bigger deal to fans.

Megadeth's lineup was like a revolving door in the 80's, but even more so now. That's just Megadeth. If Metallica started changing lineups all the time, I think it would be a bigger deal to fans.
to each his own man. i really like Endgame & Death Magnetic is a masterpiece in my opinion. but at least we both agree that Metallica & Megadeth both kick ass!

he was sick when he got to Argentina they say the chile concert he was even better. I was in the concert and his first songs he didnt sing that well but he got better as the concert went along he san like 21 songs or so and they cut most of the first songs from the dvd.

Good to see him pulling a few more riffs out from up the sleeve. I've got a feeling he doesn't get stuck for a riff long when he writes the songs.
Its definitely hard to play well and sing well, some people can do it really well like Lord Tim or Johnny Diesel.
You'd think he'd sing better without playing, but he likes the thick twin guitar sound.

He was a founding member in Metallica and Megadeth is its own unique embodyment of insanely fast, as well as intricate and complicated music. its no just heavy, its good music. Most bands nowadays wanna just be heavy and arent that good musically or are wanna-be rock bands that try to put a tough/cool/not really heavy/not really pop but kinda image. There is no other band like MEGADETH.

Yeah you're right. But every artist gets inpired from other artists. Like Most of Metallica are really big fans of Danzig, especially James.
Megadeth though, no other band is or sounds quite like them. And newer bands were inspired by both Metallica and Megadeth.
