  • heard this on the target commercial and loved it ever since

  • see this is great music. why cant shopping stores and stuff like that pipe in the good christmas music? this is clasic and beautiful. it really captures the spirit of christmas at least i think so. why do they have to torture us with the stupid music they put out? just crap compared to this. no heart to it all autotuned or just stupid... or slutty. (santa hurry down the chimbney tonight) why? its stupid. this is real christmas music. and real art.

  • I think this is the greatest song ever made

  • if they sung this when they rang my doorbell, i just might answer the door.

  • love this song N I hate xmas

  • I also do not believe in the biblical God, nor any religion, but I sang this song with my choir back in JHS, about 30 years ago, and I think it's so well written and just perfectly arranged. One of the most beautiful pieces of music I've ever heard. Some of the other arrangements try to make it longer, but they seem to only ruin it for me.

  • I absolutely LOVE this choir! They are the best! :D

  • Athiest and love this song.

  • @dajpd who gives a FUCK if you athiest

  • @Sonsbitchesall you're* and it's because this song is generally associated with Christmas which is associated with RELIGION. So calm the FUCK down.

  • @futurejockey8 No, really. You don't have to be of a certain religion to enjoy good music. Therefore, the fact that he was atheist was irrelevant.

  • @SnowofLight What you said was absolutely true, but it's just because it's associated with Christmas. But you're really right by saying that your religion cannot affect your ear.

  • @Sonsbitchesall Clearly your inability to read led you to miss the religious discussion that was going on.

  • @dajpd same...very good caroll,id almost wana become christian becouse of it.

  • By the way. I've driven through Mormon Country several times (Idaho and Utah) and I must say that the Mormons among the friendliest and kindest folks it has been my pleasure to meet.

  • I accept Mormons as my brothers and sisters sincerely seeking to worship God as He wills.

    Me? I'm Catholic.

  • This sends shivers down my spine. I wish it was longer :/

  • @Solythetree Yeah me too. I've always loved this one.

  • Are there two houses shown?

  • @BreyJ0 I think it is two diff views of the same house :)

    ps Happy Holidays!

  • Goosebumps.... Every. Single. Time. I'm not Mormon. But the Mormon Tabernacle Choir is the Gold Standard of Choral music. By the way; it is an all volunteer choir. How cool is that?

  • This is by far one of the best Christmas songs of all time. Oh yeah, and Mormons are awesome. They are some of the coolest people I have ever known. From the looks of this country some people could use Holy underwear. This country is being gift wrapped and FedExed to hell. From what I have witnessed Mormons make this country great.

  • HEY EVERYONE SHUT UP AND LISTEN TO THE PRETTY SINGING.

  • my mom hates this song...lol i put the song super loud hilarious...she doesn't talk to me for the day but its pretty funny

  • Are you Serious!?!...LOL! Does she really get like that over a SONG?!?..

  • @brut2011 well right now she is pregnant soo maybe thats why..lol

  • My choir sang this for our Christmas concert. We're not NEARLY as good as this choir but it still sounded pretty :) But this will always by my favorite Christmas song! <3

  • @xXElectricAngel So did my choir

  • So beautiful!

  • Whoa whoa whoa kids... just, whoa. This is a musical piece, and a very well performed one. Save your theological debates for facebook.

  • Btw mormon tabernacle is beast!

  • Boo mormons influence on laws! Yay carol song! Boo god! Yay holiday! Boo stupidity! Yay happiness!

  • For those who don't know, Mormons are Christians..... Hence their church name.... The Church of Jesus CHRIST of Latter Day Saints.

  • Kickass rendition

  • @Bethanyy36 Because they deny me my civil and human rights...

  • @brucegor

    Why do you hate Mormons?

  • the catchiest christmas carol i have ever heard in memory

  • This is my favorite Christmas carol and this choir's version brought chills down my spine.

    Beautiful.

  • WOW hate mormans love the song

  • @brucegor why do you hate mormans? all they did was leave out the book of Dueterotimy

  • @UrWatchinDaMaster Actually Mormons use the king James version of the bible as well as the book of mormon so that includes the book of deuteronomy:)

  • @musicaldreamriver thanks (:

  • @UrWatchinDaMaster Ahh I dont hate the mormons.Just joshin.Silly religon delete book add there own, Holy underwear. Married in secret places(WTF?)Die and become gods. Own little worlds to rule over.Polygamy(as if one homonally unbalanced female in the house isnt enough)Diddnt allow minorities into church till recently....Need more? doctor Walter Martin "kingdom of the cults"

  • whether you care about the fact that they are mormon or not, you cant help but appreciate how beautiful this is. if they didnt mention that part, everyone would be all over them. they turned my favorite christmas song into something so amazing

  • A long time ago my mom watched PBS and ordered a couple cassette tapes with christmas songs sung by famous singers from the mid to late 1900s. We still play it today, and this song is on there. Our Christmas tradition is that every year when we decorate the tree, we put it in and play it. Then on Christmas day, when we are making our food (whether breakfast or the other foods for family later) we play it also. Eventually we are going to convert them into a digital version so that I can use them

  • This is my very favorite Christmas song.

  • I couldn't care less if it was done by Mormons or jewish! i love this

  • @mrhibob12345 Damn right!!

  • formidable!

  • by FAR the best version of this song on youtube

  • this specific version of the song is what I love... this is what i grew up on... I know this choir had other songs put out at this time... Im going to say late 80's... wish i could find this particular album... not the newer stuff out now... just doesn't have the same sound... if someone... anyone could help me with this i would highly appreciate it...

  • @SaRaHMcCl3ndon I found it on, Time - Life Treasure of Christmas. There is a lot of the older Christmas music on the cd. Its my must have cd for the holidays.

  • heard this on the radio my mom was listening to and im not exactly into christmas music unless im awkwardly happy for some reason i like metal, rock, electric blues stuff like hendrix.. BUT when i heard this i was completely inspired to rewrite this on a guitar i know its been done before but ive never played it and it sounds really cool. theres lots of good music and lots of different ways to play it its amazing

  • This reminds me of when I was in choir in high school. We were really good and it was a very small choir. ::sigh:: Good times.

  • Wait.. no bass note at the end? This is ruined. One flaw. One MAJOR flaw.

  • @mesammyp7 if u turn up the volume at around 1:25 then u can hear it :)

  • @mesammyp7 yeah I hear it at the end. ding dong ding dong then the bass comes in and goes hummmmmmmm

  • This makes me cry.

  • AMAZING!!

  • I came to listen to Carol of the Bells...I could care less who sang it...just here for the song.

  • Its Ukrainian, not Russian.

  • beautiful beyond belief

  • I love love love the basses!

  • This is a beautiful choir, beautiful singing! Love this video!

  • For me its all about HIm, Jesus. Merry CHRISTmas!!!

  • I will never allow anyone to tell me Christmas is not about Jesus, or that I can´t connect Christmas to Jesus. Celebrate it anyway you want. There is free will for all. I choose to celebrate it for the reason it ever began, Jesus Christ.

  • @joyal77 It began before then. Christians stole our Pagan Festivals and sites.

  • @LindaGeorge Exactly :) Christmas isn't a Christian holiday. It is a combination of many holidays that the Catholic church organized together to make it more favorable and well liked. On top of it all, Jesus wasn't even born in Winter. He was born sometime in the Summer.

  • @candimisaxx Thank you! I thought i was the only one that thought that Jesus was born in the summer. I'm a christian myself, but i've always wondered why they {christians from the past} made Christ birth be in winter. i guess it's too much of a tradition now to change it, though.

  • @poofberry They did it because Yule is in Winter. See, back when most Christian beliefs were being created, THE church(catholic) decided the best way to squash Paganism out was to over ride it. Why do you think All Saints Day is Nov 1st? It was to over ride the "evil Pagan spirits" on the 31st. Look at any Christian holiday and you will find a Pagan holiday deeply rooted in it.

  • @candimisaxx I'm pagan but I was raised Christian, and my deeply Christian father often reminded me when I pointed out the Pagan root to many Christian holidays: "Any tradition that allows people to be reminded of our Saviour is a good one, no matter from what ill it might have come." If you're Pagan, be glad that there's still some of the Old left in the world, and if you're Christian, be glad that the day reminds people of the birth of Jesus who would not otherwise think of the subject at all.

  • @poofberry I thought he was born in April. I also wonder why he is also always white, he was middle eastern.

  • @AndForAMoment What is your thought based on, other than trendy "history channel" late 20th century second-hand gossip? Speculation on ancient Judean tax practices notwithstanding, April is just as much a wild guess as December. The more important notion is that for millions, Jesus is a light in the darkness, perhaps the only light, and what better time to celebrate the coming of that light into the darkness than at the Winter Solstice, the darkest time of year for most humans.

  • @AndForAMoment And as for white versus middle eastern, Semites are also Caucasian, so what's the significant difference you are trying to point to? Jesus lives in the hearts of people, regardless of skin color. Do you have a problem with Jesus envisioned as a northern European? Do you have the same problem with envisioning him as Black?

  • Christmas is a celebration of the birth of our Emanuel, Jesus. A beautiful way to celebrate the happiness of His existence. The lights, the beauty, the spirit, is all a reflexion of it, of HIM. If you don´t believe it however its your life. You want to celebrate it regardless of your beliefs, its fine.

  • For me its all about HIm, Jesus. Mertry CHRISTmas.

  • I am a die hard atheist and I love this piece. I couldn't care less if it was done by Mormons or Muslims!

  • @scientistUMT I myself am non-denominational, and like you, who cares who made this. They totaly "rocked" it.

  • For Me, Christmas isn't about Christianity or Religion, it's a wonderful festival about lights, music, short bread cookies, trees, presents, and a warm feeling of hope and contentment. And sadly it's also about family arguments and resentments etc... but that's life, the good and the bad. But on Christmas, hopefully the good and beauty of life tends to overtake the bad, if the lights are bright enough and the music beautiful enough, and for me, this song is a great part of that.

  • Everyone who says anything bad about this gorgeous choir is just jealous they can't sing and perform an already beautiful song amazingly like this mormon choir. This is beyond beautiful.

  • Atheism means lack of belief in a god. Agnosticism is the belief that certain claims are unknowable.

There's even a wikipedia page with the title.

  • @irebby80 Then you have no idea what both words mean, since they can be paired together.

  • Mormon is a type of Christianity to all who didn't know... I love how they sing this song I've been trying to sing it as fast as they are all day lol

  • Honestly, no one should judge this based on religion, music is music. It doesn't matter who it comes from, or what it means, it is music, that is the beauty of it.

  • so good!

  • I am an atheist, who grew up in a Catholic family and studied in a Catholic school. This version almost made me cry. It's beautiful, a great rendition of one of my fav Christmas songs. I hate youtube trolls. I still celebrate Christmas with my family and I can't stand disrespectful people. This chorus is amazing.

  • Who cares whether these people are mormons or christians or athiests or agnostics?! The choir is AMAZING and the music is beautiful... nobody can argue with that and thats what they're there for :)

  • @J0b0able Thank you for saying it that way. I wouldn't have been as nice.

  • beautiful

  • @irebby80 You clearly don't understand basic philosophical beliefs/views. There really is no such thing as a true agnostic. If a person describes themselves as being agnostic, they are either an agnostic theist or an agnostic atheist. Rarely will you find someone in the middle. Learn a little about theology and philosophy before you go ranting about it.

  • OMG you guys are amazing i wish we sounded like that but were just in 6th grade lol....

  • That was very awesome i never seen something so good that what im talking about :D

  • I wish my last name was Tabernacle. That would be awesome

  • I still think of peter griffin when i listen to this song

  • this makes me proud to be mormon

  • Always was one of my favorite CHRISTmas songs. I love the part right before the end. I love the minor chord it makes

  • that kicked some major booty!!! awesomeness man!!!

  • this song is giving me the chills,

    it's THAT good.

  • meow nice house

  • Thank god I found this. Thank u love this song.

  • :: I love it!

  • Oh that was amazing...

My middle school choir is doing this for our Christmas Concert,

But considering we're all only in the eighth grade I don't think ours'll sound that good.....

  • Ah, finally a version of "Carol of the Bells" that doesn't have that new age rock crap in it. The song is so beautiful by itself. Why do people feel the need to add all that other superfluous bullshit that takes away from the song?

  • those are all that guys wives

  • You could believe that your fish is humanities savior and worship him for all I care! The music is nice! I don't give a crap about your religion.

  • talk shit about mormons all you want, fact is, they have a damn good choir.

  • I love this song when it's sung by a choir! Transiberian Orchestra is good too, but it's so much better with the words and the contrasting vocals

  • i'm so excited to sing this again(soprano part) all the parts together is just so amazing!!! its a tradtion at our school to sing this at our christmas choir concert as the grand finale! it's always my favorite concert because of all the beautiful music! :D

  • My favorite bits are at 0:20 and 0:54. The male section running underneath the rest delivers an unusual intensity to the piece that I love.

  • Wow! Where singing this in choir, pit together tho, it sounds great!

  • SIMPLY AMAZING!!!

  • I'm an agnostic atheist, and I couldn't care any less who sang this beautiful piece. The fact of the matter is that we are all entitled to our views of the world, whether right or wrong. As long as no one is shoving their views down your throat, what right do you have to complain? Frankly, I find this to be an excellent performance of a beautiful Russian Christmas carol regardless of the fact it was performed by an all Mormon choir. Now shut the hell up and enjoy the music.

  • @QBRebel16 its Ukranian. Wikileaked.

  • @timidmarco Thank you for that information. I remember seeing the name of the composer, and I assumed he was Russian.

  • @QBRebel16 That's a traditional Ukrainian song , not Russian

  • @QBRebel16 "agnostic atheist"

  • @gentleuser What?

  • @QBRebel16 Simply curious...what is an agnostic atheist? Someone who says that God doesn't exist but occ ponders the idea? *GRIN*

  • @Videomama1972 Wow, how insulting. Agnosticism is the view that the ultimate truth, whether a deity exists or not, is unknowable currently or indefinitely. Atheism is the lack in belief of a deity, not the belief that no deities exist. In other words, an agnostic atheist is a person who doesn't claim to know that no deities exist but still doesn't believe in any based on the subjective 'proof' available to them.

  • @QBRebel16 Yes, I know the definitions of atheism and agnosticism, which is why I questioned how you used them together. It was not mean to be insulting, I'd just never seen anyone refer to themselves as both.:)

  • @Videomama1972 Oh, I'm sorry for my accusation. But indeed, agnostic only describes knowledge, not belief. The misconception that all agnostics are fence-sitters has made the societal definition much different than what it is. Thank you for actually showing an interest in what agnostic really means.

  • @QBRebel16 I already know what agnostic "means," but if people want to take an odd definition of it then who am I to argue???:)

  • @QBRebel16 As a Christian I couldn't agree with you more.

  • @QBRebel16 Obviously you COULD care less who sings this beautiful song, or you would not be spending time spewing your nonsense on YouTube. i support yoru right to acting like a jackass as long as it does not infringe on my right to call you one. Now please take your own adice and shut the hell up and enjoy the music. God is good.

    Xp

  • @tommerrigan1956 My nonsense? All I was saying is that I was an agnostic atheist who liked this song. Who sang it had nothing to do with it. And how was I being a jackass? I don't understand.

You're telling me to shut up and enjoy the music when that's exactly what I said. I only responded to comments sent to me. Those people are entitled to answers.

And the 'God is good' statement at the end of your spiel just shows that you're only mad that I think differently than you. Kudos.

  • @QBRebel16 "Agnostic atheist" is a contradiction in terms. I thought atheists were supposed to be intellectual or something.

  • @8Way2Go8 We're supposed to be intellectual? Actually, there are just as many dumbass atheists as there are dumbass theists. But the point is that agnostic atheist isn't a contradiction. An agnostic is someone who denies the ultimate knowledge of a god. An atheist is someone who doesn't believe in a god. Ergo, an agnostic atheist is someone who doesn't claim to know that no gods exist but still doesn't believe in any. I don't see how that is so hard to understand.

  • love this, thanks for posting!

  • absoloutly gorgeous! (: love it <3

  • THIS IS AWESOME!!!!!!!! LDS power you can come to my house and do some lights to some mo tab for me I loved it although why is there so much hate on here...jealous of the mo tab i thought so!

  • I've been searching for this for fucking ages! Thank you Mormonman, to you and your wives!

  • Comment removed

  • @lesterburnham42 Wives? I've yet to hear any polygamists within the LDS church, or any other for that matter, within my lifetime. I just find it slightly offensive to see/hear that...

  • @dragonhunter440 I was joking, if you're in the LDS church you must know the sterotype that mormons can have multiple wives. Apparently Joseph Smith Jr. believed in it adamantly, then when it was made illegal in the US he "conveniently" had a vision from god saying he no longer wanted them to practise polygamy. Thou shalt not question Stephen Fry (look him up).

  • @lesterburnham42 Actually Joseph Smith selected only a few men to have more wifes because there was a lot more women than men. So to make sure that the women who weren't married already were safe and looked after, Joseph Smith told a group of men to marry one or to more women and look after them until there were enough men to support all the women.

  • Most beautiful thing I've ever heard. The lights make it even better. I thank the Lord every day for letting me be able to still have the sense of hearing because I know a lot of people won't ever have the chance to hear something this beautiful. Incredible arrangement. Lovely voices and the ever-so-beautiful dynamics. :)

  • though i may not agree religiously. their musicality is amazing and truely emotional.

  • thumbs up for basses going "bohm" at the end

  • One of my favorite Christmas songs. And I don't even celebrate Christmas!

I adore Christmas music, though, and this is the best of the best. :)

  • Some of the comments are hilarious...obviously there's a lot of kids on here from high school still! But..............the song is beautiful and the lights are awesome!!! Thanks for posting...from a southern baptist who had a kick ass Mormon grandma!! :)

  • beautiful!

  • @Whyzitsotough Looking over the other feedback you've been getting, im sure i can agree that everyone else agrees that you are indeed a stupid fuckin cunt lol. nothing but a waste of space but also lots of entertainment to someone like me, so before you make another "email me your adress and we can settle this" comment...i get off on shit like this, my life is revolved around putting fucks like you in your place.

  • very nice

  • To me this song is about beautiful revenge.

  • this song is so scary.

  • every year theres a competotion of choir in our district and were gonna sing this its very similiar but our version is little different and im an alto i love choir competition

  • Well! The Choir is invited to my house for any occasion!! and this is one of my favorite songs!

  • I wish I were a Mormon so I could sing with this choir :)

  • I feel like I can't find this specific track on itunes. They have carol of the bells listed a few times, but I'm not sure if the sample i'm hearing is syncing up with this specific version. help? Which album is this from?

  • ding dong mmkay

  • @PonyyGod have you considered blocking the people who are arguing and causing trouble?

  • @InternetChoirProject

    1. Free speech.

    2. I believe that people are free to show the type of people they are. Have you ever seen judge shows where they make fools of themselves on national tv?

  • DANG THERESL IKE THE SAME PEOPLE ARGUING FROM MONTHS AGO LOL

  • Its cool when the men are like DING DONG!

  • You people are crazy. This video is just a pretty Christmas classic.

  • I love this song.. I sang the.. hm.. not rushen, but i dont know which language it was, ... version "shedrik, shedrik" in choir my selve and it always was one of my fovourite songs. Thanks for posting. =)

  • This. Is . Like. Friggin.....................PERFECTION! i still got goosebumps after viewing it like 22 times lmao XD

  • The best thing to come out of the Mormon Church is the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

  • really pretty

  • @LampProductionss You mormons need to shut your fucking mouth ok.. its been proven by thousands of researchers throughout the decades that the book of mormon if blasphemous and you assholes mock Jesus Christ.. joseph smith was jealous of Jesus thats why he claimed that he was better then Jesus, and YES HE DID CLAIM THAT.. joseph smith is rotting in hell as the prophet of satan

  • Comment removed

  • @Whyzitsotough How about you shut up? I don't give a damn what religion you are, and it gives you no right to discriminate against other's religion. It's a freaking choir for God's sake. Why the hell are you on this video? Just to be an ass and shove your belifs down people's throats, just so they can throw theirs on you? Most of the people who watch this video watch it for the music. You sound worse than those guys at Westbro Baptist Church

  • @ManyLemons2 How dare you disgusting mormons copy THE TRUE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST WITH 1.6.BILLION MEMBERS AND STILL GROWING to the mormons 13 million satanic cult members and at a standstill for 5yrs now..... DONT YOU EVER TELL ME TO SHUT UP YOU MORMON PIECE OF CRAP

  • @Whyzitsotough I'm Catholic. There you go assuming things. And since there are more Christians than Mormons, why are you freaking out? They aren't satanic either. If they were satanic, they'd be preaching about Satan and how hell is good. And I will tell you to shut up, cause you have no idea what you're talking about. Plus, you're being a douche.

  • @ManyLemons2 Yeah sure youre Catholic, a lot of you mormons go around w/Catholic envy.. whats with the sick competition

  • @Whyzitsotough Dude. You need medication. I'm telling you that I'm Catholic, and all you have to say is that I'm a Mormon with envy for Catholics? What was drilled into your head as a child? What are you, one of those 'God hates Fags (and America and Soldiers)' People from Westbro Babtist Church? You need to listen to people and what they say more. Instead of being an ass and stomping your feet like a three year old so you can have your way.

  • @ManyLemons2 Oh and read your BIBLE!!!!! People who are satanic dont always preach about satan, they use Gods name as a ploy and a trick to try and deceive people so that the mormons can lure Gods children away from them to join satan and his mormon children, cus satan himself disguised himself as a follower of Christ too already, the point of doing that is to deceive

  • @Whyzitsotough I've read the bible. I'm assuming you're Catholic. And if you are, you're not supposed to take the bible litteraly. They use God's name because that's what they beleive God is. the Mormons beleive in Christ, they beleive in God, and Satanics are something entirely different. That's why Santanics are called that. They admit they beleive in Satan. And Judas was tempted by Satan. He wasn't Satan. He was driven mad and he regretted what he did and killed himself. Re-read the bible.
