Actually, the black bar should be FIVE times the width of the white. That will block 5 frames and let only 1 frame show through, a total of 6 frames. I've actually tried this and I know. I used paint, like a boss.

@wandak16 I equally spaced black lines over the whole thing, but avoided 1 picture. Move over 1 dot and do it again. Do that 6 times if you put 6 frames.

Ah, my idea on the original video was right! And I see why it's the number six: If you use any number larger than six, then it would start showing the first "line" in the animation.

If you were to change the ratio from 1:6 to, let's say, 1:8, would it then work if you made it with 8 "frames" instead, or would it display strangely?

Hint: Make the animation in Flash, export the frames and import in photoshop.

Did mine in photoshop.

PS: 1 black = 5 white. I did the black 6 times bigger than the wihte and ended up with 7 frames.

Here's an idea that you might be able to pull off with more work. Instead of using bars, what about making a grid, to create three-dimensional animations? It would take a lot more work, having to draw more frames, but it would be really cool! If anyone could figure out how, It'd be you.
