You will be safe in my arms - nice chord that one.
That slightly jazz-pop chord aside, in general, on the topic of unexpected changes, you are a bit of a master of what I like to call the "option B" change, which means you are able to retain a traditional, old time feel to your melodies while also creating subtle and unpredictable, aesthetically pleasing variations on aspects of them, regularly enough for them to sound like they have been "found" but preventing them from being boring.
Completely agree a nice cello line would bridge the verse and chorus (which switches to 4/4) nicely. I would have done a redo, but I don't think that a guitar approximates the strings that I hear well enough.
This is very 'Ben and Jason', I like it! If you haven't heard them PLEASE check them out, they're a wonderful duo from the turn of the millenium, lots of strings and freshly strung acoustic guitar. Check out anything on 'Emoticons'.
just magnificent. i am lucky enough to be on the receiving end of this kind of love. i am very touched by this one, and again, your voice is just lovely.
it looks like elmo approves too :)
and as to my many favorites, ive been on youtube nonthe last few days just exploring :)
Again, very distinct style, you use all these wonderful chords and it flows so perfectly. Your simple yet very insightful lyrics fit the melodies perfectly. How are you not more well known.
I like this song. I don't know if I will ever have kids but I'm terrified of the thought. I can barely take care of myself ! People say "You just naturally change when you have kids". and I've seen that happen to most parents, on the other hand some of them don't. I find your perspective fascinating in this song.
I was terrified as well, as I state in the song. I can't speak for everyone else, but I know that my fears completely washed away as soon as I held my daughter the first time. I felt a love and a devotion so strong that it was unlike anything I'd ever felt before. That feeling is what the second stanza of the first verse desribes.
beautiful song:) thanks for stopping by and for the wonderful note. How wonderful that your daughter can bring such a big love to life. Keep writing:) good work.
It is beautiful, Justin. There's nothing like the Love for a child.
