  • Who would have thought vibrations can be turned into something like this.

  • It's nice watch/listen that, and see HOW Rush can survive over the years, and it wasn't just survive, Rush is like wine, pass the time, and they still playing like old times. Sometimes better than old times.

  • my dad fucked the soundman for rush in 75!!!!!!!!!! he is not gay he just said listening to rush made him want to stick his private area in something!!!!!!!!!!! way to go daddy!!!!!!!!!

  • all hail rush!!!!!

  • rushuh mania...:D

  • 3:30 on through the slow part just gives me such a body gasm

  • Very possibly the greatest rock instrumental of all time...nope..it definitely is...

  • I think these dudes like to rock and if your in their way watch out...

  • That shit is just sick...come on now...amazing what humans who are pulling together can do...

  • @souljour2000 There's no room to hide in a trio.

  • FUCKIN aaaaaAAA!!! YEAH!!

  • Just Rush playing this great instrumental for the Super Bowl halftime show instead

of that over-da-hill bimbo and her finger-flipper no-name sidekick would have been

    way better:)

  • How does Alex control the feedback so well here?

  • how come I never saw this before!!! jesus christ!! holy shit!!

  • so who's excited for clockwork angels?

  • Played this in high school with two friends. It was the most difficult song I'd ever had to learn and even today.... more than 25 years later, I'd be challenged by this one.

    Love these guys!

  • Whatever pedal he is using in the beginning is fuckin choice

  • @SonicFanChannel Thats a volume pedal... probably a bit of delay as well. you can get the same effect with swelling the volume knob. it DOES sound dope! Alex is the MAN!

  • Well Grace Under Pressure was cool, Gary Moore opened for Rush!!!

Pat Travers opened in L.A... permanent waves was .38 special...

Then Power Windows some got BOC! or Marillion, which I loved so would've been cool, but we got Steve Morse...

I don't really remember anything but Rush though...definitely remember Rush!

  • @Scarlet0Darkstar Yes, saw KISS in 79 original members, yes i remember CB radios, Also saw RUSH on Moving Pictures with MAX WEBSTER, also Grace under Pressure,

  • @halkito714 hehe, forgot to mention a couple shows in the bay area, & lovely rotisserie chicken at the Hollywood Bowl (& Yes, Yes & orchestra at the bowl=awesome;Jon stopped Gates of Delirium & Chris was like ?! great show wish it was captured) & some laundry tours, lol! The lights were especially amazing this tour, although I dug the lasers at the Pavilion especially from nice box seats. I missed Moving Pictures, though I swear I never will ever again. Never. I hope they tour forever.

  • @Scarlet0Darkstar NICE!!!! would of loved to have seen YES! one of the best shows i've saw was in summer 79 AC/DC with Bon of course, and UFO at the state fairgrounds in Columbus, general admission, right up front! of course i was 15 so i could handle it..it was when they came out with the live album, "If you want blood.... You got it

  • And to think UFO opened dates on this tour. Could there ever be a better show?

  • One of the best 10 minutes of music ever created. 3 absolutely amazing musicians.

  • masterpiece

  • It's absolutely ridiculous that three guys can do that.

  • Class.

  • the president of the Rock n Roll hall of fame must be the one tone-deaf down-thumber

  • Why did they cut to a still shot of Neil during the bass solo?

  • I recall that I was offered a ticket ($6.00) to see Rush's 'Tour of the Hemispheres' back in 1979. I turned it down because I had something else to do. If I knew then what I know now...

But I work with a guy who saw Rush play at his high school. Then he saw them a couple of times at some arena in Kingston, OT.

  • @bwhitcomb2011 Reminds of the story my dad always tells me about how he mssed out on an opportunity to see Dio "back in the day." Still kicking himself over it all these years later.

  • There in my Hall and one of my top 5 rock bands of all time Rock bands not Beatles or Stones no disrespect but hard driving bands Led Zep- Rush- AC/DC- Metallica-Foo Fighters

  • @treesloth9 *there in your hall? Where in your hall?

  • who disliked this -.- they shall burn -.-

  • I saw Rush 3 times in the 70's in London, Ontario but left them after i "progressed" to "punk" and "new wave" haha, who do i listen to now...RUSH

  • This video give meaning back to my life.

  • LOVE this old footage!

  • best part of the song... 6:32

  • Farewell To Kings was the first tour I saw. They opened for blue Oyster Cult.

  • only neal peart can wear someones look but make it look better thus making it his own look

  • lol enjoy seeing older footage when Peart looked like a different person, i.e. a badass from the 70's you didn't mess with lol

  • beginning reminds me of VH cathederal

  • This sing gives me wood...and I'm female. If your heart isn't racing by 2:00 then you're dead inside.

  • RUSH fecking BOOM top band

  • Who the hell hit Dislike, you will burn in hell....=)

  • 1 person was attacked by MONSTERS!

  • simply amazing

  • Neil draweth strength and stamina from the 'stache.

  • @Rowdyrecords55 that is the greatest thing ive ever read in my entire life

  • Rush is one of those band´s, that comes every 10 centuries!

  • Best band ever seen , 3 of them sounding like an orchestra.

  • HOLY CRAP, WTF IS WITH LIFESON'S HAIR?!!

  • @YoyoingPony I think he got a perm

  • quit and pensive my thoughts actout like aprehensile tale of row boats of you reaching for the alien shore, really big shoe tonight, the pleasure of the fire of tingue above the head of the waters hold back now bowfish now caviar now tsunami cheers to the unwriiten lyrics to this epic song

  • @SuperMegaUberGenius automatic associative writing is not genius. Is it the language or the user? Probably less of both.

  • then we thought a lot and a whole helluva lot more, watched a movie from the acid 60's about walrus in 2011 time machines, rolled and slept and o, lived happily ever after and after and over and happy and over and ever and over and happy and over and ever again ad nauseum

    bigh guise

  • for a sng without lyrics it sure says alot about leemurs the blacktail and the ringtail this grroundghogprairie vast wasteland of an an area of no song with ghosts and riders and children and arrows and snakes i hate snakes,, this lyricless song says it all..

  • reprise WTF do they want from us

halfnot extra to allow any lyric to be geniously inserted here.

so, fan inserts, why the fusk would you play something to befuddle the fans with no lyrics?

    was this a conspiracy?

  • know not that gnot nor the looseer knot of the mariner's lost fingertips nor the marlin nor the need for bait nor the need for perpetual epic storytelling motif

lyrics to this song for the lost pirate to the deaf

stepping in thru lave off my ghost ship

used to be a shed or a snail but giant sea beast pirate

  • I'd almost rather Rush not get inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame at this point since it is the worst collection of Rock and Roll... Abba and Run DMC? Really??

  • @JustinTyme Agree, the R-n-R Hall of Fame is a pile of shit... full of commercial bullshit "music"

  • oh my god

  • One of the greatest RUSH clips Ive ever seen! What gods they are! THANKS for posting! tom

  • terrible tema.. !!!

  • Awesome song, of course... not sure I'd call it HQ, though. Just sayin...

  • Lifeson > Page

    Peart > Bonham

    Lee > Plant/Jones

  • @TOSportsFan1990 Ha-ha , saw Zeppelin in Oakland in 77 the saturday show . Had a running argument with a good friend all through high school as to who was better , to this day RUSH is my second favorite band of all time . Cheers !

  • @TOSportsFan1990 do you really think page, bonham, plant and jones compare??? imbecile!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @TOSportsFan1990 yeah right

  • @TOSportsFan1990 Better in technical skills and complexity of songwriting, yes. Rush was one of a kind. But music is more than that, it's also about expressing yourself, and if technicality determined how good band was, Jimi Hendrix probably wouldn't be so influential. Even Smoke On The Water could arguably be a masterpiece, despite it's simplicity.

  • @TOSportsFan1990 Saying something like that is bound to attract disagreement, I don't necessarily disagree, but I wouldn't make such a bold claim as that one, Zeppelin and Rush are two quite different bands even though Rush acquired a lot of influence from Zeppelin, you really can't compare them.

  • Breathtaking!! Fuck the Rock and Roll hall of shame!!!! A hall where abba is and rush isn't is a FUCKING disgrace. That shithole means nothing!

  • Best instrumental rock song ever!

  • To the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Committee: You just a bunch of wankers for not nominating Rush into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Rush Forever!

  • People always seem to assume Geddy's doing the Moog pedals. Watch Alex!

  • @Evster2012 they actually all three use moog pedals or as of late neil even triggers with electronic drums. easily the most influentiall band of the 70's . the first solo in this song is the best no one plays with that emotion and phrasing . the epitomy of shredding but tastefull and dark this solo alone proves lifeson is the best

  • Where do you people find this stuff?? Can I have a collective Hell Yeah!!!!

  • An exercise in self awesomeness

  • This is porn.

  • ALEX MOTHER FUCKING LIFESTON!!!!!!!

  • this gave me an orgasm

  • lol "hq"

  • eu quero minha bateria agora

  • THE BEST TUNE OF RUSH , ANOTHER GREAT DRUMMER MASTER !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Here's what I'd like to see on their next album... unplug all technology > 1980, hop the train to Bangkok, smoke a little Gonj, fall into a fitful sleep perchance to dream of slaying the dragon with the almighty pen. Wake up to one long sunrise and a view of the Fountain of Lamneth. Fly by night under city lights or a canopy of stars back to the studio and lay down about 2112 tracks before we all go bald and our minds are darkened and dulled by sickness and indecision!

  • @shorawitz here here!!

  • @shorawitz here here!!

  • these guys have amazing fingers and a good sense of music

  • A MUST LISTEN

  • Greatest sound of music ever!!!

  • I was 17 in 1978 when I saw this live....I wasnt in awe...I was in shock. :)

I still love it to day at age 51.

  • @qtrhors1 I was the same age! They still sound so great with this timeless music.

  • i need to change my underwear!!!!!!

  • so hard to beat!

  • Jimmy Page better then alex Lifson my ass

  • @oOWavezOo

Hi, just the way u said that deserve a A+. In Page' time, they started from nothing and stage equipment was awfull. It's not the same generation. Al is said better on stage but Jim had much longer solo. I would have liked specially here one for intro. salut u1

  • @unitiss1 Jimmy Page's Solos were longer but youve listened to fountain of lamneth and Necro i wager, thoughs songs are practically whole song solos one being 20 minutes and other being 9 minutes and your absolutely right the equipment was awfull but led was so popular that they could afford it and rush wasn't as big at the time they were but Alex is the only guitarist Ive heard of that can put that mush emotion in a solo in this song.

  • @oOWavezOo

of course page used to improvise and not too sobre, rush play more like a regular classical orchestra.

my best buzz is red sector A cause the guitar. I went to see them in québec city, I was quite desapointed not to hear it.

  • @oOWavezOo as rush is my fav band i would agree but alex would prolly slap you for saying that

  • @LivingInTheLimeligh7 Not really if you think about it there aren't many guitarists that can pull of that king of emotion your right they can but its not as effective as alex lifsons and listen to limelight's solo a hell of a dramatic solo there aren't many who can do that, that good but im not saying there aren't but im saying that Alex himself is the best ive ever seen do that and this is oOWavezOo i lost the password lol dont hav anyway to get it

  • @oOSignalzOo well thats opinion, and ive seen a video where they interviewed geddy and alex, they said that they once met a few guys from led zeppelin like page and you can tell that alex is pages fan. at least its what i think

  • @LivingInTheLimeligh7 Well yeah but hes a fan of many guitarists but Alex Lifson has produced many rifts, solos, and rythm's that are just mind blowing and when you look back on stuff from people like jimmy Page you see that the style Alex has is overall more emotionally filled then just catchy. the only songs ive heard by led zepplin is Stairway to heaven and Babe Im Gonna Leave You. other then that i like their music cause its catchy.

  • @oOSignalzOo i actually do prefer Rush but im thinking of what alex would say about this conversation. But cant be sure, havent asked alex, havent got the chance, never will get the chance, and they would prolly make me go away before i went into a very much of a interview.

  • Don't we all easily one of the top five instrumentals of all time

  • Get one they gibson es 335 alex lifeson signature

  • I wish my guitar sounded like that >_<

  • think they are almost as good as status quo, only joking what a shit hot band.

  • ten minutes and 13 seconds of my life well spent. Thank you rush, live long, live hard!

  • @Rushfinatic 10 minutes? I've probably spent 10 months listening to this song, and I bet you have too ;-)

  • 1 dislike for this masterpiece? Whoever disliked this should be locked in a portable toilet and set on fire.

  • this is an orgasm and a half...

  • tight as a ducks arse

  • fuck me squared

    I want that guitar NOW

  • Comment removed

  • "no description available"? Hell, no description NEEDED! :-)

  • ten minutes i'll never get back....THANK YOU RUSH!!!!

  • @SolSkill It took 10 minutes to figure that out? Why waste your time if you don't like listening to real musicians

  • @gep210 ???

  • @Ryu12543 What part of what I said didn't you get? Why waste your time if you don't like listening to real musicians. Or It took 10 minutes for you to figure out you didn't like what you're listening to.??????????

  • @Ryu12543 Why don't you read his comment GENIUS. He said 10 minutes he'll never get back. Which means HE DIDN'T LIKE IT .

  • @gep210 Way to take over a week to think of a comeback stupid cunt. I'm not even arguing with your stupidity.

  • @Ryu12543 I just read it today you little FUCK. I'd like to see you call me that to my face you FUCKING LITTLE FUCK. I fucking dare you.

  • How in the hell can ANYONE dislike this video? It has the be the best written instrumental in the history of music. It's just kicks your ass right into the next zip code...

  • @Snowdogkh

totaly agree friend.the best intrumental ever written by any band.

  • The solo at the beginning melts my face everytime....So does the one in the middle. When I think of shredding, this is what I want to hear. The instrumental as a whole is so so great, showcasing what masters they were on their instruments.

  • Recorded for Don Kirshners ROCK CONCERT is what I'm thinking. Always a pleasure to watch these three!!!

  • Holy wow

  • Progressive rock doesn`t get any better than this !!!

  • fear the stache

  • Whoever disliked this sucks ass!! Whoever you are, STOP DISLIKING RUSH VIDS!!! IT AINT RIGHT!!!

  • pretty good "wowwwww'

  • sounds just like the version from exit...stage left

  • @bankruptfilly I think that's where it's from!

  • I think this the better live interpretation of La Villa Strangiato I have ever seen. Dude Alex was on fire that day!

  • It's great,but c'mon with the God references!

  • What is this from?

  • HQ my ass.

  • GENIUS art!!!!!!

  • I've watched this video like 10 times in the last few days. I tried downloading it but that didn't really work out. Anyways, 4:02 with that feedback sound makes it all the more astonishing.

  • And then RUSH came befor GOD....And GOD humbly asked them to teach HIM the art of music......And RUSH agreed and the world was a better place for IT!!!

    (the book of 2112)

  • @CSXer give him thumbs

  • When God put the spark of invention into man's minds on creating the electric bass and guitar, the modern percussion, and keyboards and how those instruments were supposed to sound like . . . this 9 minute, 35 second song was what he had in mind. Absolute perfection.

  • Timeless!!

  • This is soooooo tight for a live recording! I honestly get misty every time I hear this song. Shame the camera stick's on Geddy 1-finger synth key during one of the best guitar solos ever...

  • Rush is mind-bogglingly amazing. This is my favorite song from my favorite Rush album. 1978 rocked the ass off of anything 2011 has to offer. Classic Rush.

  • Alex in Wonderland

  • amazing!!!

  • holy fuck -alex is a BEAST

    that was great

too bad these guys discovered the police

it only took them 20 years to start sounding like this again[but not even close]

  • @vboy13 what's wrong with the police and other new wave bands, nothing it made Rush a more diverse band

  • There isnt just one God, there are three.

  • 3 brilliant musicians who are as tight as humanly possible. This is a musical masterpiece. Alex's guitar work is freaky good. The whole thing is mind boggling. When they drop it down to the soft passage and Alex is doing his thing it's Rock nirvana.

  • incredible masterpiece!!!

  • @DavidRourke15 probably the hiwatt amps he used at the time.

  • Watch the video of theis song from the Rush 30 concert or the live in Brazil and it is just as amazing and profound 33 years after this video. Long live Rush

  • @DavidRourke15 distortion + 35,000 chorus pedals :P

  • The next album's gonna be called. "That's bullshit!"

  • Nice kimono.

  • Utter brilliance. Wow. I wish I were that talented.

  • As an American, I feel cheated, When they were playing this good, in Canada, we had Donna Summers and Styx. Rush has always been so far ahead of their time. I'm pleased they're still touring and producing.

  • an exercise in self indulgence
