  • Has anyone ever mixed Crunch Berries with Peanut Butter crunch? They're individually awesome, so I bet together they'd be the shit. Damn, I don't have any right now..

  • @alanproaudio dude... you have the MOST impressive amount of Rack gear I've ever seen!

  • cool!

  • Ha! i too have jumped off the Behringer V amp bandwagon in favor of the 1101. I like it a lot so far, but I need help dialing in good high gain tones. any tips? you seem to have that down pretty well.

  • Pas mal !!!!!!

Hé ! Tu as la tenue pour reprendre du Running-wild !!!!

    En tout cas bravo !!!

  • moi tu me donne envie d acheter le gsp 1101 bravo l ami

  • Merci beaucoup. Une GSP1101 est un achat judicieux.

  • Awesome! Love it. :-)

  • 2:06 love that sound :P

  • The noise gate failure there? It happens. It's turned down to be on the edge of my sensitivity threshold, so as to not lose any sustain and retain natural sounding decays. I screwed up worse at 1:45, accidentally finger muted that note.

  • How much of your low power chord crunch is the Peavey Windsor? I run a Marshall JMP-1 with a Boogie 50/50 and can't get that low mid crunch.

  • Exactly 0% of my crunch is the Windsor. 100% of the tone comes from the GSP1101. The Windsor is there to be a clean power amp only, so there is nothing plugged into the input on the Windsor, the GSP1101 goes straight to the loop return bypassing the preamp altogether.

  • very good :) whats the name of this song?

  • Thanks, it is a Nightwish cover of a cover.. it's called Crimson Tide/Deep Blue Sea... the melodies were taken from both of those movies.

  • ok, now what?

  • umm.. dunno... what do you want?

  • i saw a lot of video of people trying to play this song, you are the best so far.

I am your fan now :p

And yes try to post more vids of you playing :p

  • Thanks so much! anything you want to hear?

  • I so agree with him! Your the best so far^^

  • Nice! Where did you get the background track?

  • Thanks pal! I made it with MIDI. The drums are a Tama kit I purchased samples from betamonkeymusic, then threw them into a custom SF2 which will work on most Creative Labs cards. Everything else is the stock General MIDI 8MB soundfont on the audigy 2 series.

  • Ah ok. Thanks a lot! Post more vids ^^

  • .... the pirate costume was just too much man..... Tell johnny depp i said hello

  • ha ha pirates are HAWT!!!

  • Fived and Faved

  • LOL!!!!!!!

dude nightwish shud take lessons from u!!!

    dress wise!!! LOL!!!!!

    ah thats classic

  • you might have sold me on the Digitech, i had a gt10 and personaly i thought it was horrid, amp sims and distortion sounds were really bad, effect were ok, but still not that great imo, too bad, it was a sharp unit and well layed out, the options were the best and easy to use.

I hope this thing will work out better for me in the home studio context.

Distortion sounds good and there are a few good pedal sims to try, that sounds great just using the marshall amp sim.

  • Word on the GT10. I ordered that thing in hopes of using a decent volume pedal to fade in/out and a good metal sound, damn thing made too much noise and sounded WAY too artificial! RETURNED

  • <3 my tonelab, for me it was a toss up between that and the GT10

  • Ahoy matey! That thar was some mighty good playin' o' the thunderin' six string if ye ask me.

  • you mean seven =P

  • Ye be correct... 7 strings... one for every sea!

  • Did you switch out the original pups for another? And also how is the Floyd Rose (floating tremolo) on it, if it wasn't replaced by another.

  • It's the stock Trem on the guitar, it's very nice, doesn't go out of tune easily or anything. The pickups here are D-Sonic 7's, aftermarket and rewired. I took the coil-tap out, installed a standard 3 way switch, I find coil-tapping to create odd buzzes, and give me no real advantage in sound. Others will disagree, and they will have valid points.

  • sounds great! im getting a gsp1101 this week :) what kind of cabinet are you using in this video?

  • On this video that is the Behringer BG412F cabinet, possibly the finest $180 cabinet ever made. I don't care what the vintage 30 guys say ;)

  • im pretty sure nightwish's guitarist uses a pitch shifter pedal for that effect mentioned before

  • Yeah, the good old Digitech Whammy... I can't get into using it, even though the effect is in the GSP1101, so I use Artificial Harmonics to get close, but I think you're absolutely correct.

  • this really is a great video by the way

  • Hi,dude! Great video!

I'm just wondering if the Chorus/FX block and Delay block

have parameters that can be set to BPM,

    Hz, or Note values?

It seems dumb that the manual states that Delay Time has values that range from 0-99.

    Thanks!

  • Shiver me timbers! Five stars for the playing and five stars for the audiovisual proof that the Windsor works great as a poweramp for a multi-FX unit.

  • Thank you! yeah, that windsor is too good a buy... considering rack tube poweramps sell for at the lowest double the price.

  • Hi,,,I have the gsp 1101 too,,,Can you tell me how to program expression pedals?

    Help help help!

  • what MIDI expression pedal are you using? I have the FCB1010, so what ends up happening, is I set my GSP1101 to control what I want it to control with expression links 1-9, and set the two I want to control... usually I make everything 7 and 8, so I don't have to put new info into the pedal all the time... but it really depends on your MIDI pedal.

  • Hi,,,i've the Fcb 1010 too,,,can you explain me everything that i must do with channels, links etc? Tanks!

  • haha, I would so love to be able to explain it all, but this box is way too small. There's a lot of good vids exsisting already on setting up the FCB1010, I could always make one later for using it with the GSP1101... just remember, how I use it and how others use it, may be really different

  • Hi! :-) Just wondering why you went with the FCB1010 instead of the Control 2. Thanks! Cool vid, btw!

  • Easy answer to this one. I bought my MIDI pedal 3 years ago, the control 2 didn't exsist. I'd still go with the behringer now, for the 2 expression pedals, and lack of custom mods to the MIDI standard.

  • sounds great, I have a gsp1101 as well and it sounds awesome both through the amp and the computer. btw nice hat lol

  • :) yeah, the DI cab models do a fantastic job, did a couple recordings that way, very clean.

  • How do you do the scream at 1:19 ????

Exelent cover you are the best!!!!

  • I was doing an artificial harmonic on the octave at 1:19.. I believe emppu really does something slightly different there, that was my best approximation. Thanks man!

  • And at 0:51 do u do something special with your finger to have a high-pitched sound????

  • Yes indeed! This is the same trick, it's an artificial harmonic. I'm touching the string lightly at a specific point with a finger on my pick hand, to cancel out the fundamental tone, and only let certain harmonics ring. A lot of people use their thumb to do it, I use my index finger... it's whatever is easiest for your style. Check for videos on pinch harmonic how-tos or artifical harmonics, there's a lot of fantastic instructions for this on youtube.

  • Could you tell me some of the settings that you use?

I got a Marshall custom amp, and a metal designed Boss footswitch, but the sound you got on this song is really metal-amazing!

  • Thanks man. Tried to get one real wet feeling and heavy, but smooth simultaneously. On that patch, I'm using the JCM2000 model, gain is cranked at 92 (out of 100) EQ is mid scooped (lame I know) 7.3Bass 4.7 Mid 7.5 Treb, amp level at 75. Then there's a distortion box model in front of an Ibanez TS-808 Overdrive:80 Tone:90 Level:60

  • okay thanks

  • Ah, really cool. I don't got all this gear though, so I'll do the best out of it ;) Thanks anyway, and GREAT cover!

  • That's an awesome cover! And the costume actually fits the song xD Good Job!

  • Thanks a ton matey!

  • This is GREAT!

  • Captain Jack Sparrow.....

  • awesome!

  • What preset do you use in this song?

  • Hey buddy... I didn't use a preset. I used a dry JCM2000 model, and the Tube Screamer model. nothing else.

  • i digg it. love the windsor head.

  • sounds good!

  • KICK ASS PIRATE! BTW sweet setup.

  • Awesome vid! Awesome song! And awesome massive tone!

Have you used the gsp in a full-band set up?? Just wondering as I'm thinking about getting a 1101, but some of the modellers I've heard in the past sound good but cant cut through the mix in a live setting.

I'm currently running a PSA1 in the loop of an old boss GX700. I love my setup but the boss is a getting bit tempremental in its old age - not sure whether to get a gsp1101 or the boss GTpro.

    Thanks!

  • Hey man, thanks a lot!

I use this rig in my band, the key with the GSP1101, or any modeler seems to be to get a tube poweramp for it. The Carvin TS100 is good low cost, I'm using a Peavey Windsor just as a power amp. The BOSS GT-Pro vs GSP1101 is a tough call... I went with the GSP1101 and am happy, but make sure to try them both. The tube power amp will make sure you compress as you come close to the clip point so it will definitely have good tonal dynamics when loud.

  • Cool, thanks a lot for the tip! I've been using a SS power section until now because thats what tech21 recommends for the PSA1. I'd like to try the gsp through tube & SS to hear the difference.

I read somewhere that you can't set a tap tempo on the GSP with a regular midi controller & so need the control2 pedal - have you been able to set up tap tempo with your FCB1010??

    Thanks again!

  • unfortuneately I haven't tried the tap tempo stuff... In all my projects the drummer sets the tempo, so it's not something I ever used on any unit.

  • and something else can i change the tubes with another type like 6L6GC for example....?

  • i am between windsor and valveking...and i have a boss gt8...i could have some clean sounds from windsor?what do you suggest?

    windsor or valveking?

  • Sorry man.. I have nothing for you... my setup is entirely different than yours would be... I think you'd be better off with a Valveking.. I just needed a cheap power amp, and the Windsor was perfect at only $319 USD

  • how are the emg's that come with that guitar? also how is the guitar in general? i'm thinking of buying that or a jeff loomis 7 string

  • Hey man... EMG's didn't come with this one, you're probably thinking of the pro version which is usually scarecely available. This came with stock crappy pickups which I replaced with my standard 7-string combo of 2 Dimarzio D-Sonic 7's.

  • oh, hows the rest of the guitar well put together?

  • Surprisingly quite well. I had to shim the nut by .2mm in order to get the action I wanted out of it, but the craftsmanship I would guage just below that of a Japanese made Jackson. with the D-Sonic 7's it's extremely nice sounding, and plays easily. it's worth the $430 for sure.

  • alright thanks

  • 3 words man.

    MONEY

    WELL

    SPENT

  • DUDE, this has got to be the most epic self made guitar vid on youtube! The hat....the song....everything. I laughed so hard but in a good way. Great playin man keep rocking bezerk pirate style! -Jeff

  • woulda been way more epic if I could have filmed it on a tall sailing ship like I wanted... but well... I have a budget, and I spent it all on the hat.

  • yeah fantastic!

  • Yaaarrrrr!!!!

  • Fuck, thats some brootal tone man... Sweet!

  • How is the windsor responding to the modeling and effect, are you driving and feeling the tubes and is this setup better sounding then just a solid state poweramp?Looking into purchasing a diditech or a x3 live but i dont want the amp to feel numb,i want to feel the amp. Also great playing man(i meen captain)

  • haha, thanks! Here's the deal on the Windsor, the flavor of the EL34's comes out when I do crank it, but doesn't color the sound at all. Basically lets you get really loud, and the bass/treble never overpowers the signal. The GSP1101 is the best compromise between ease of use and a living feeling modeller I've used yet. The X3 has that lifeless feel (as well as the line6 buzz) to me that I do not like, but a convienient floor package. I can't qualify that opinion so feel free to disagree!

  • Hey,i wont disagree, you have obviously more experience then me,i have only been playing for 4 yrs and i dont practice enough.I have owned a peavey bandit and a spider 1 combo and sounded good for what they were but never really loved playing until i got a peavey classic 50 so i am affraid of loosing that tube fealing i fell in love with but i do love the idea of these modeling preamps to get all these wonderful sounds.Does using the preamp of the windsor color the sound or does it just sound bad

  • hey again, I don't actually use the Windsor's preamp, but I'm sure if I did, it would color the sound in a negative way. The GSP1101 is going straight into the effects return, so it bypasses the Windsor Preamp altogether... effectively making it the least expensive 100-watt poweramp ever.

  • your agile has sharktooth inlays?

  • I had to customize it to have those... a little woodworking fun goes a long way!

  • Pretty tight job, cap'n. :D Did you find it hard to install?

  • 0 time... it's so unbelievably easy to use.

  • lol nice hat

  • Hey man, great playing! How much does the GSP1101 sell for?

  • Thank you! I picked it up at a local music store for only $450.. Musiciansfriend is about $500 or so.

  • what cab , sir?

  • Using the attractively priced Behringer BG412F, was miced 20 degrees off-axis with an SM57.

  • I'm thinking of using the gsp1101 with a behringer fcb 1010 exactly like you... how is it with the expression pedals? do they work good? is there any delay when you use wah or whammy with the expression pedals? (i'm asking because when i connect the fcb 1010 in the v-amp, there is a delay when i use the wah)... cheers!

  • Heya, no, the GSP1101 is completely lag free with the wah, also when comparing to the V-amp, the patch switching is also lag-free. The GSP1101 has up to 2 sconds of effects spillover, makes the patch switches sound very natural by letting reverbs or delays fade out on their own.

  • Is it just an effects box or it has some distortions and overdrives? Rgds

  • The GSP1101 is primarily an amp modeller, it has overdrives, distortions, wahs, harmonizers, choruses and delays built into it, so it's almost a one stop shop for everything.

  • Thank for the info, cant wait for your next vid

  • Ahoy there! Nice video. I own a GSP1101, and it is by far the best Amp modeller in the market today, period. I own lots and lots of gear, several pre-amps (Tech21 PSA1.1, line6 pods, etc etc , but also old fashioned Tube amps, Mesa power amps, Mesa cabs...)and this piece of gear is awsome for tone shaping,FX and direct recording. I use ESP and PRS usa guitars and all sound terrific through it. All the best.

  • I completely agree that it's a great tool. I do like it better than the PSA 1.1, and line 6 array. there's a BOSS GT-Pro unit that is really complicated but it allows you to put effects anywhere in the chain, and it sounds really nice. But the GSP1101 gets great sound with no complication... which I like.

  • Hi again. True, about the GT-Pro. I owned a GT-8 sometime ago, it has the GT-Pro same specs (FX and sounds, and i already sold it), you can tweak the effects nicely, but the sound is too artificial for me...

Like i said, i've been playing guitar since 1990, and after having tried almost every piece of gear out there(i work in a music store) it's by far the best, and cheapest amp mod. in the world. And it's made in the usa !!! I use other stuff also, but this one rocks ;) Best regards.

  • Oh! I forgot!! And it has Lexicon reverbs!!!

  • how did you get that sound? i'm thinking of purchasing this head and a marshall 1960b cab

  • The sound is coming entirely from the GSP1101. I bought he Windsor simply as a cheap 100 watt EL34 tube poweramp.

  • cool tone, i wish i had the gsp1101, i have a GNX2, but im saving for the rack model, do you have the CONTROL 2?

  • I'm using my old Behringer FCB1010 for MIDI control, works really well. I like the 2 expression pedals on the FCB1010.

  • Nice job, realy good stuff your guitar sounds incredibly good and the gsp 1101 is perfect !!! Your play game is at the top specialy the harmonics :p

  • amazing, i love you.

  • Thank ye lass, the Captain made something for yer kindness, I hopes ye likes it.

  • One of the better ones :)Yaarrr!!!

  • Ahoy Matey, the Captain thankes thee!
