btw the notion of Progress that will save our socciety, our basic needs etec. just failed 2 times: 2nd wave of Industrial revolutions: 1st and 2nd War. and the Atomic bomb.
As the history asks us: Who is gonna be the neutral one who works for humanity? From the 20, 21.cent: There is no neutral agent. It is still the problem of technocratic contra organic civilization as was in 19 cent in Europe.
I think its good to be interested, but tell me how you guys gonna aplicate these so called "upgrades" (we still don't know - suposingly every technical cure as far as we know makes weakness for something different).
So I challange you to tell me how would you aplicate these technologies into socciety-- global capitalism with a lot of "hungry" countries.
There will be always more and more people joining the transhumanist movement, especially after the first real life applications come out on the market in the next 10-15 years, it will become a mainstream movement and world will have to deal with it.
And I agree with the title of this video: transhumanism is the choice to win. Loosers accept things, winners fight hard to make their dreams come true!
Also, the only realistic transhumanistic development in the next 100 years is going to be prosthetic bodies and the cyberization of the human mind. After that it's all stops released head on space exploration. All that "live forever" bullshit is just selling you a dream.
Although since this is the internet you probably care more about the dream than the reality so I guess you should go kill yourself now.
The only laws in reality are, at best, only locally relevant. The crux is sometimes "locally" means an entire universe. But whatever problems for another day.
All you need to know is that ethics has nothing to do with anything, anything you've seen is 20 years old, and before the roll out most people will have to survive world war 3. So, good luck fatty, I hope you're the Hurley of the nets or yer dead when the bombs hit.
Transhumanists need to bear in mind that this technology is incoming, but not here... It is your responsibility to ensure that when it arrives YOU are in excellent physical and mental condition... ready to be upgraded.
Actually Ray Kurzweil, just about the biggest authority on the exponential growth rate of technology expects to live as long as he wants, and he's already 60 or so. I think there is every reason to think it will be in our lifetime.
very opossite from one another. My opinion on transhumanism is this: This technology can be used for many great things and help many people, but I also think that it would be the most suffisticated tech and through the world, things that can improve the quality of life can are only given to a select few. And other thinig, could something like this create a world domination I know little about TH, but with a little prescience and wisdom, we could see if this will recind our right to choose.
Outled, I get the impression that you are extremly arrogant;however, i think that you probably have a above average IQ. You know it and for that reason is why I think you are arrogant. Before you jump the gun here, i am not insulting you. I am an arrogant person to, but i disagree with you when you state that science and religion are the same process. Did I misunderstand and you meant that they are both are a way of control and or manipulation? Because I think that science and religion are
Let me make it perfectly clear, science and religion are EXACTLY the same process. I dont think many people quite grasp this very obvious truth. Science and religion arent part of a healthy normal outlook, they are clear sign of mental health problems. You see the majority of people on this earth are absolutely crazy, so norms like me have to just put up with this asylum.
You need to lose weight and start smiling , enjoy each day and do not spread your 'good news' about eternal life.
Outled, you're a fucking moron. If everyone had your kind of short sighted, small minded, defeatist mentality, we'd all still be living in caves. Transcendence of our biological limitations is a logical and moral imperative. Live forever or die trying, simple as that.
parapon3a must i school every myopic repeater of information. Whats this if everyone argument your going on about, i am against the shared collective reality you dumbfuck, thats my point. You cant take my point and then call me a fucking moron. Everyone will be like someone in the future, thats the point you complete twat.
Logical does not equate with truthful and moral is your own religion.
Your extreme need for extreme power will inevitably lead to extreme pain, but i can tell your a selfharmer so that wont scare you. all i can say is i hope you get those hugs you feel you deserve then realise you already had access to infinite potential and power and were already the craftsman of your own destiny.
i treat transhumanists as diseases that need fixing. :) Always have always will, buddy your fat and wear glasses, of course your a transhumanist lol You have no choice, its not like you love nature and our happy with the way you are. See thats the difference between science/ religion and normal people like me. I accept the lack of control becuase i have bollocks and enjoy the ride. You and all the other religious cretins are looking for a get out clause, pathetic. and NOT inevitable!
satan loves you, clearly he does, look at what he's done to your body and mind. satan lies and he will deceive you and all your new world order retards. have fun in the lake of fire fucko
I just joined the WTA mailing list a couple days ago, myself. I don't think there's as much to despair about as you think. We could actually make the leap from organic to mechanical in our lifetimes, if we can get the AI above human limits within enough years. Also, the number of years we live is being redifined all the time. Most of the people reading this post can expect to live past 100.
if you were so confident that we are not approaching some state of critical mass politically, environmentally, culturally, then the apocalyptical people wouldn't drive you so nuts. i also believe that there is a cure for stupidity and that we don't need to resort to transhumanism to enact that cure.
what if we could activate the rest of our dormant brains without these drastic measures? could we then fix what's wrong with our dna from there?
You don't like the "apocalyptic"? Man transcending Man is itself an eschatological idea.
Man's conquest of Nature, if the dreams of some scientific planners are realized, means the rule of a few hundreds of men over billions upon billions of men. There neither is nor can be any simple increase of power on Man's side. Each new power won by man is a power over man as well. — CS Lewis, "The Abolition of Man"
its a psy op veiw , this is just away to further dumb us down so tha can have complete mind control over us ,thir is a natural cure 4 every thing , u probably dont know about ceannsing and unlocking our naturall potential were only using 10% of our minds, you cant jump into this future stuff without studing eugenics mindcontrol etc
I don't think we will have to worry about mind control. Scientist will have designed these technologies to make it about as possible to control your mind as it is possible for someone to remotely control your iPhone or PSP.
this isn't to benefit you - by naively advocating this you're just a 'usefel idiot' for the eugenics club at the top: an intergenerational bloodline elite who trace their lineages back millennia and simply want an ideal slave who won't cause them problems; that's why transhumanism is being heavily promoted and cartoons are predictively programming the children with biosynthetic superheroes; just a front for the freemasonic 'must-be' of the implantable brainchip after which it's game over
Deceases would be non-existant to a truly transhumanist society. The world problems would be quickly solved with the advantages of Nano-technology. I can't wait for the Enhanced capabilities that will be available.
Tristan: apocalyptic POV...they should not drive you crazy, try to understand their 'fears'. Transhumanism *could* split our species in two (ala Brave New World). Some people will simply NOT be able to cope with the coming tech..look at all the people who are still mystified by Windows 95:-) Multiply THAT a few times heh.
Dude you should check out what the people believe in who are making transhumanism a reality. Seriously I'm not trying to be a jackass, check out thier web sites. They are Lucifarians. Don't just dismiss me and think you are a great and intelligent athiest. Check them out. They want you to be a mindless drone and not believe in anything except for what they tell you to believe. And they are not mindless drones. They believe in Lucifer and God just like the "Stupid Christians".
Used to be into transhumanism. Once you explore the inner software in your brain, you kind of slip out of that urgent desire. You also loose that sense that there is some thing wrong with death. I found that those feelings stemmed from a deep place of fear, and when I experienced some thing out of this reality well that fear got minimized lets put it that way. Toy around with your computer, see what it can really do. You can switch operating systems around, it's awesome.
Someone stop these transhumanist pscyhopaths please, it's all uber meineche and eugenics societies behind this! Listen to Huxleys speech at Berkley, google it, the scientific dictatorship will consume your children if you don't act!
Change is wrong, change is bad, change is dengerous! Genetically changed potatoes are the devil's magic! NWO stands behind everything, including us! DOOM, ARMAGEDDON, WAL-MART! Run for the hills!!!
It's not wrong too see who we're giving the keys too our car too. Should we freak out about it? No, that's not a good idea. However; freedom is important in my opinion, whether you're a normal human being or upgraded with technology. There are people who would love too see us loose freedom, I can guarantee you that. It's funny because a lot of those concepts(GMO,NWO) you mentioned are only within 60 years of age. They could very well fuck us over. Especially Wal-Mart, lmao.
You are definitely correct about the 'power struggle' between corporate fascism and freedom-seeking individuals....that's standard fare in cyberpunk, and we are living it. We can have Monsanto-style GMO, or we can have Open Source GMO. We HAVE absolute freedom to create an alternate world in which CorpGov (my term for the US corporate state). We can live 'off-grid' (meaning to live in awareness of the manufactured world without embracing it, not referring to the literal meaning).
Most transhumanists are very annoyed by religion, if not angered by it. Wouldn't it be a piss off if you reached transhumanism, and the Catholic Church was in control of you, your thoughts, your movements and forced you to worship on Sundays? lmao, interesting form of irony that would be. That's why I say we should see who we're giving the keys too. Personally, I would rather keep the keys to my car on my person at all times.
brain: instead of attacking avrok, understand his/her point of view. I am a transhumanist, and the fact is that these coming technologies CAN be used for good or ill. The US govt attempts to weaponize EVERY tech they can find. That's a fact. We must have science WITH philosophy, else bad things will happen. As an example, Monstanto has chosen to use biotechnology as a tool to capture and own the world's food supply. It's their unethical behavior that is the problem, NOT the biotech itself.
It's funny how you say pessimists dry you crazy. Me too. My manager/boss is in that slot. The dude drives me crazy. Always saying no way to this or that. The guy's a japanese lad, so it's dissapointing to me. But he's also religious so that's self explanatory (based on rules of religion). Like the day he humiliated me when I told him about faster than light travel proof I read on the tube. I googled it and showed it to the idiot. He still couldnt accept it as fact. How backwards is that? And dumb!
Look. If we cure death by means of bodily regeneration then there will definitely be laws on birth control ie china. It's pretty obvious. But also, not everyone wants to live forever. I for one don't. Even if I could. Maybe 150 yrs at best. But I suppose it would also depend on how interesting my life would be. I love the idea of virtual reality. I guess we shall see.
Yay!!! Woohoo!!! If we cure the disease "death" then we can grow exponentially and all live equally poor with no food or resources. Wonderful. I hope all of these transhumanist assholes eat a dick ..and choke.
They say that you'd have reached your destination even before you physically have left your point of origin. How fucked up is that? I just don't even bother understanding that quantum logic. I'm loving this subject.
I'm so happy to see someone with it, with regards to the knowledge of faster than the speed of light. It's currently in production-the machine to test this tech. I think that they rather have proven via calculations that it's possible, but I think they're still building this device for these tests. Although I'm not quite sure, I'll find out. Please if someone can correct me on this, please do. I'm really facinated by this.
hello ? do u know anything about the ultra elite that run this world? they want to reduce the world's population by 90% . transhumanism is only a means for them to turn the remainder of the people into robot slaves. They will keep any anti aging or life enhancing benefits for themselves not for u or I.
lol i know like they are going to give it to some fat kid that masturbates to anime. Get this buddy your going to get the rifd chip cuz of your transhumanist ideals then your going to be really screwed. I don't get how all these self proclaimed intellectuals cant see the big picture you fools. Have fun being the new totalitarian governments bitch. ps coming 2010 have fun with your dream terminator. And you talk about going to space hahaha you fool.
amen, 'i'll take a chip & be a god w/a built in ipod...' fatty is not going to be borg, neither u or i, i'll die naturally or with a gun in my cold hands
A nearby singularity is obliged to maintain duality for its existance. Therefore there is no such thing as a singularity. The interesting aspect is that the duality knows that it can reach the singularity but will never do it, unless there is a way to escape backwards to the duality again. To give a practical example of this. Our brain functions like this. We reflect about ourselves. Take that away and we become a singularity, "plantlike".
People should never be trusted with any kind of power resembling this over each other. Today the vast majority of the worlds population suffer some sort oppression because we are so easily corrupted by power. What would the purpose be of your elite society where everyone knows everything and is never sick? Is your idea programmed happiness? Because I hope you understand that no one can be truly happy without struggle. If we know everything, then what is left? Not saying people are happy now btw.
what about optimistic apocalyptics? I believe the world is going to end, because of all the bad signs around us, and reality shows us that too many things are continually going down hill, but I anticipate it. I can't wait for the end, but I think the optimism comes from my belief in eternal life.
Notice how its always some ugly fat white guy who chats about this stuff i never sene any blacks or asians talk about how shit life is or how to make life better by upgrading there already perfect selves
hmmm us dying, was that a design flaw or a purposly evolved feature of humanity, afterall mutation of evolution happens wen offspring are created through sexual reproduction, so imagine if humans never aged the pressures put on the young leading to stunted evolution
True but if we become machines are we not taking evolution out of natures hands completely which may lead to all sorts of social problems such as an elite forming controlling basic human development. I dont think we can trust fellow man to take care of that. Also I do not believe death is the end of life as energy cannot be created or destroyed only manipulated so what happens to the energy created by the brain and body after death?
beauty is completely subjective, and transhumanism doesn't even deal with the concept of beauty. those who change will have their own standards of beauty, just as different groups of people today have different standards of beauty.
yeah and it aint gonna look pretty its gonna be a sad sad day when your dreams come true death is a natural part of life rejoice for those around you who become the universe morn them do not miss them do not attachment leads to jealousy
...i only addressed the concept of beauty. don't claim to know my thoughts.
it may not be 'pretty' by your standards, but by their standards. and you may be ugly by their standards. i already find you mentally ugly.
you don't appear to have any real understanding of transhumanism. part of it is about eliminating involuntary death, not eliminating death entirely, as you seem to think. what is so horrible about that?
now i'm sure you don't have a clue. transhumanism is merely about improving ourselves using our technology. i don't know what kind of paranoid fantasy is going through your head. that destiny thing?
i just got into this, and i don't see how it'll change anything about my life, other than improving it in the future. i think you just want to insult people.
either you start explaining exactly how you think it will be horrible, or i'll just ignore you. i don't see any point in feeding trolls.
our technology grows by the day, and there are already ways we can see to improve ourselves. we will only find more as our knowledge grows. hardly a fantasy. and you still haven't said what is horrible about transhumanism.
haha, you're starting to double-talk. in my experience, that is a good sign that someone has no real point. which is it, a horrible destiny, or a meaningless fantasy? it could hardly be both.
again, what is 'getting a life'? who, in your opinion, is someone who 'has a life'?
i think you`ll find that death is the problem here and i think you`ll also find that it is inevitable blah blah blah our technology grows by the day and we are seeing ways to improve ourselves what a load of shit maybe if you had a life you wouldnt need to build technology to make things better
the guy making the video talked about how we can use technology to correct the wide variety of faults and shortcomings in the human makeup, and, in time, eliminate involuntary death. we can also become smarter and expand our capabilities. what is wrong with that?
mosslund doesn't appear to have any clue at all here. he's nursing paranoid delusions which have little basis in what transhumanism actually says.
lmfao we dont live with nature ? ignorance truly is bliss maybe you share a symbiotic relationship with your "machines" in your head mate but seriously transhumanism is simply devolution your telling me you dont want to stay perfect well then you truly are lost its like i said with point of view and remaining powerless
i don't think you even understand what i'm talking about there. or are you using your own definition of nature?
there is no such thing as devolution. the closest thing would be going straight backward, the opposite of transhumanism.
you say we're perfect now? that's obviously false. i really do think you're just afraid or hateful towards something different from what you're familiar with.
but the underlying problem here is death and that cant be changed you have enough years to experience everything you want dont try and super extend yourlife span it only gives you more time to experience pain why give more problems to the world better your mind not yourself
i want to see every city on earth. i want to walk on the surface of every planet around Sol. i want to see other stars and walk on their planets. how can i do that with my short lifespan?
a longer life will experience more pain than a shorter life. it will also experience more that is good.
and you still haven't described what 'having a life' is. why can't someone 'have a life' and support transhumanism as well? i have a life i'm quite happy with, by the way.
we already circumvented natural evolution, when we used technology to force our way to the top of the food chain, and eliminated all natural predators. we are no longer part of the normal circle of life, thus we have largely divorced ourselves from nature.
most individuals survive, weak selective pressure = little/slow evolution
with transhumanism, we would be taking full control of our makeup, and not relying on chance mutation to provide us with desirable traits to breed for.
nope you still need nature to survive your still a bitch to this universe my friend your only taking an exterior change modifying your body when in fact it is an interior change that needs to occur thats true evolution transhumanism is simply a change of clothes the essence still remains
trying to modify the world to the way we want it is a needles pursuit to fulfill your finite emotions you are not better than the universe dont try and be the best we are at one with literally everything perfect equilibrium
transhumanism will probably destroy the world as we know it one day but luckily nature has its way of recycling its waste "A great civilization is not conquered from without, until it has destroyed itself from within" its evolution transhumanism simply is the path to evolution but
i never said we'd escape natural laws/processes. and transhumanism is about improvement. we can improve ourselves on the basic, genetic level. what do you consider 'essence'?
we've been changing the world to suit ourselves ever since we started chopping down trees and making farms. we no longer coexist properly, since we aren't running around naked in the woods eating fruit.
ok, you've lost me now. you're sounding sort of pro-transhumanism with the last couple sentences.
not in the way you think it will be, every civilisation falls and transhumanism will lead to the destruction of the 21st century and the rebirth of a new one and thus the great balance is restored
we didnt use technology to force our way ontop of the food chain we evolved past the ways of agression and greed and fighting for survival our minds and bodies no longer need to fight for survival youve reached the top of the planets ranking list and still you want more it is the mind that needs to evolve not the body
you really are out of touch, if you're serious here. we fought our way to the top, using our technology. and we are still an aggressive species, still greedy. and we still fight for survival.
never deal in absolutes not everybody is like that the world is alot better then what you think it is maybe you just need to get out more ergo "get a life" the body is a vehicle for experience it serves a very specific purpose to modify change or destroy the body would be to ruin your experience and the experience of others leading to pain
you haven't even tried to see any point but yours. and now you part with insults. i can't say i didn't expect such a farce after seeing your first posts. oh well.
in fact i think our next step is not so much a change in our bodies i belive it is a change in the mind look we are powerful enough with our minds we are greater than any animal on our planet notice how are bodies are not made to fight we have no claws or anything to do harm imagine if our minds were at a greater level of conciousnes than what they are now
yes, our minds are our main survival trait. transhumanism would reinforce this trait, much faster than breeding ever could.
all would be able to reap the benefits, instead of just those with lucky genes. also, any net improvement through breeding would require that most individuals don't reproduce, or the improved breed would be completely separate from the others.
ever acheived something youve really wanted its good isnt it but that too doesnt last forever you can visit every city you want in your lifetime only you are stopping yourself train yourself to let go of everything you fear to lose everything you need is here on earth not out their
yes, all my immediate needs are here. so, if i train myself to be content, what's the point in your 'enough years' comment? or are you just using a different argument every time i address yours?
what's wrong with wanting to see more? what's wrong with wanting to be rid of genetic flaws? what's wrong with wanting to live until i've tired of life and want to die? i doubt i'll live to see most of this, but we can ensure the next generations will see a better life.
i want to see as much as possible. i don't quantify everything i want to see. i don't have a list. i want to exist until i'm tired of existing, while i explore and watch history pass by.
i don't need "loads and laods fo time". but what would life be worth if i stuck to my needs alone? i don't have nearly enough time to do everything i want, just enough to make my life meaningful. and there are countless unknowns for the curious to explore.
extreme transhumanists will unbalance nature and cause chaos you dont seem like an extremist but you must understand you are responsible for your actions and putting faith in technology to give us an unreal and unatural life to fit our specific wants is wrong and the mentality will be passed down to our children
the chain reaction set off will have us living off our emotions in fact our specific emotions transhumanists will probably stop the emotion of sadness and realise that we in fact need it the point is already here look we already have an argument transhumanism will lead to war
how will improving humans unbalance nature? at least any more than unchanged humans have?
'faith in technology'? 'unreal and unnatural'? all technology is unnatural by the usage you're going by here.
some want to eliminate negative emotions, others, like me, don't. changes aren't going to be imposed on the entire species. only those who want to improve.
there probably will be war, when people who fear the improved humans strike out. just like when racists attack others. simple-minded fear.
but thats dealing with the absolute that transhumanists will actually get anywhere life isnt just about us we live with nature its true we all have diferent views of life but it is important that we stay human and powerless our thoughts should only remain as a fantasy
we don't live with nature. we've been largely separated from nature for millenia, and now share a sort of symbiotic relationship with our technology. transhumanism is simply the next step.
why should we 'stay human and powerless'? i'm starting to think you simply fear change.
and i do live in the real world. what transhumanism says is quite real. just like space exploration.
but the term transhumanism is thrown around alot these days but be warned there are extremists out their who literally want the world to be dominated by machines people who want ultimate control over their life other peoples lives and nature itself
people who want the world to be dominated by machines are more than just transhumanists. transhumanism is about curing flaws and improving ourselves, not some kind of Matrix reality. i won't associate with any who advocate such lunacy, either.
you know, there are people who are just as opposed to mechanical limbs and such, and others who are opposed to most tech, as you are to transhumanism. and some use the same lines you do.
But seriously, I think that some things might happen, like life-extension (Not immortality!), perhaps brain augmentation, etc., but some of these other things would be very far off, if they happen at all.
Also, I don't particularly see what's wrong with upgrading one's self; what is so morally reprehensible?
I don't think death is such a negative thing. I'm not against "immortalism". If you want to live forever thats fine by me. But if I choose not to, just don't condemn me and kill me with your nanobots...or make me live forever because of your nanobots. Oh...and nanomachines are already creating medical breakthoughs. I don't agree with any sort of threshold which we will "break" through. Technology is progressive.
Well, if I choose not to "choose" when I die or if I die, then don't condemn me and I won't condemn you for choosing to do so. I'm 22 years old and I read Ray Kurzweil's the singularity is near when I was 20. I used to be so fascinated by my own thoughts about the future that I was sort of trapped in them. Now, I don't deny the possibilities of what transhumanism has to offer, but that is all they are - possibilities.
We, have already produced an artifical red blood cell. (About 1/3 the size and costed millions of $ to roduced)I hope this stuff happens in my lifetime, I'm 22.
our evolution? you cant possibly know what we will evolve to,and would this mean that all of humanity will have to transform or just those who share your sentiment?
interesting , it sounds like something straight out of brave new world, i think its morally wrong(and im an atheist) to tamper with genetics because people would never be satisfied, first genetics then theres no stopping it,we would essentially be cyborgs.interesting nonetheless. good vid btw.peace
its just a bunch of nazis who try to introduce this movement. sifi nerds and people who are not satisfied with their lives, or scared of death follow them. in nazi germany we called it "Rassenhygiene", eugenics in english.(they call it Transhumanism, posthumanism now). however, if this will happen one day,and replace humans, i hope this planet will explode.
For us. Read Charles Galton Darwin's 'The Next Million Years' wherein he say "we, the elite, shall not alter ourselves. We must retain our concious faculties to rule."
its a nice idea to be able to cure these cancers, such as death and ageing, but its hard to belive, do you have anything to back it up, and yes you can go faster than the speed of light, i know you wont belvie me but i can think faster than the speed of sound already give e a few years and i will be able to prove it is possible to think faster than the sound of light, i can already prove the speed of light is not the fastest, erm, you are right in some comments
death a disease?,in my opinion ,death is what makes life worthwile,my life will come to an end and i am perfectly comfortable with that,i cant imagine immortality ,i think i would commit suicide, why would you want to live forever?
I don't know about you, but I'd rather have the choice of dying than becoming an immortal slave without the right to transcend my current existance. Becoming immortal is only nice if you are totally free, immortal slavery must suck huh? Until humanity is ready to stop believing in Good and Evil, transhumanism will be used as a means to promote continued endless wars. Dualistic thinking principles is the problem, there is no Good or Evil in the Multiverses...only choices.
Well, personally I believe that stupidity, aging, and death are not diseases at all. They are natural parts of existence, that you will never totally eliminate them. Death isn't a conclusion of existence, but a continuation of existance beyond what we currently understand of cognitive/subcognitive existence.
Ok, let's get this straight. Not all transhumanists are atheists, and not all transhumanists think the same on all issues. Some elitists who call themselves transhumanists would tell you differently. The true transhumanists simply want a better life and see this happening through technology. Not all of us want to be immortal or become gods. We strive to be healthy, unlike this individual, so that we may live to see these things come to be in the future.
what is natural? Science and research can push the boundaries of what is "natural". Transhumanists hope that some day, "immortality" is perfectly natural.
Also, there is probably no consciousness after death.
Are you familiar with Aubrey de Grey? He's working his ass off to slow and eventually stop the aging process. Check him out if you haven't. They have interviews with him on youtube.

We could actually make the leap from organic to mechanical in our lifetimes, if we can get the AI above human limits within enough years. Also, the number of years we live is being redifined all the time. Most of the people reading this post can expect to live past 100.

if you were so confident that we are not approaching some state of critical mass politically, environmentally, culturally, then the apocalyptical people wouldn't drive you so nuts. i also believe that there is a cure for stupidity and that we don't need to resort to transhumanism to enact that cure.
what if we could activate the rest of our dormant brains without these drastic measures? could we then fix what's wrong with our dna from there?
just asking.
thriceplowedfield 3 years ago
You don't like the "apocalyptic"? Man transcending Man is itself an eschatological idea.
Man's conquest of Nature, if the dreams of some scientific planners are realized, means the rule of a few hundreds of men over billions upon billions of men. There neither is nor can be any simple increase of power on Man's side. Each new power won by man is a power over man as well. — CS Lewis, "The Abolition of Man"

this isn't to benefit you - by naively advocating this you're just a 'usefel idiot' for the eugenics club at the top: an intergenerational bloodline elite who trace their lineages back millennia and simply want an ideal slave who won't cause them problems; that's why transhumanism is being heavily promoted and cartoons are predictively programming the children with biosynthetic superheroes; just a front for the freemasonic 'must-be' of the implantable brainchip after which it's game over

DameonWolfDemon 3 years ago

Not saying people are happy now btw.

hmmm us dying, was that a design flaw or a purposly evolved feature of humanity, afterall mutation of evolution happens wen offspring are created through sexual reproduction, so imagine if humans never aged the pressures put on the young leading to stunted evolution
beliartheusurper 4 years ago
this was discussed at a WTA meeting. Its more defined as having the right to choose when to die. Also if we were all machines would it really matter?
TristanPEJ 4 years ago
True but if we become machines are we not taking evolution out of natures hands completely which may lead to all sorts of social problems such as an elite forming controlling basic human development. I dont think we can trust fellow man to take care of that. Also I do not believe death is the end of life as energy cannot be created or destroyed only manipulated so what happens to the energy created by the brain and body after death?

burwill, what the fuck? beautiful girls? what the fuck does that have to do with anything
BreadWinner06 4 years ago
i was saying nature is far more beautiful than transhumanism will ever be
burwill007 3 years ago
beauty is completely subjective, and transhumanism doesn't even deal with the concept of beauty. those who change will have their own standards of beauty, just as different groups of people today have different standards of beauty.
drakeblackhorn 3 years ago
yeah and it aint gonna look pretty its gonna be a sad sad day when your dreams come true death is a natural part of life rejoice for those around you who become the universe morn them do not miss them do not attachment leads to jealousy
burwill007 3 years ago
...i only addressed the concept of beauty. don't claim to know my thoughts.
it may not be 'pretty' by your standards, but by their standards. and you may be ugly by their standards. i already find you mentally ugly.
you don't appear to have any real understanding of transhumanism. part of it is about eliminating involuntary death, not eliminating death entirely, as you seem to think. what is so horrible about that?
drakeblackhorn 3 years ago
you cant escape destiny my friend transhumanism is a horrible subject just look at the people who are into it they clearly have no life
burwill007 3 years ago
now i'm sure you don't have a clue. transhumanism is merely about improving ourselves using our technology. i don't know what kind of paranoid fantasy is going through your head. that destiny thing?
i just got into this, and i don't see how it'll change anything about my life, other than improving it in the future. i think you just want to insult people.
either you start explaining exactly how you think it will be horrible, or i'll just ignore you. i don't see any point in feeding trolls.
drakeblackhorn 3 years ago
by the way, what do you consider 'having a life'?
drakeblackhorn 3 years ago
transhumanism wont change a thing so stop living in a fantasy world and get a life death is inevitable
burwill007 3 years ago
our technology grows by the day, and there are already ways we can see to improve ourselves. we will only find more as our knowledge grows. hardly a fantasy. and you still haven't said what is horrible about transhumanism.
haha, you're starting to double-talk. in my experience, that is a good sign that someone has no real point. which is it, a horrible destiny, or a meaningless fantasy? it could hardly be both.
again, what is 'getting a life'? who, in your opinion, is someone who 'has a life'?
drakeblackhorn 3 years ago
i think you`ll find that death is the problem here and i think you`ll also find that it is inevitable blah blah blah our technology grows by the day and we are seeing ways to improve ourselves what a load of shit maybe if you had a life you wouldnt need to build technology to make things better
burwill007 3 years ago
the guy making the video talked about how we can use technology to correct the wide variety of faults and shortcomings in the human makeup, and, in time, eliminate involuntary death. we can also become smarter and expand our capabilities. what is wrong with that?
mosslund doesn't appear to have any clue at all here. he's nursing paranoid delusions which have little basis in what transhumanism actually says.
drakeblackhorn 3 years ago
lmfao we dont live with nature ? ignorance truly is bliss maybe you share a symbiotic relationship with your "machines" in your head mate but seriously transhumanism is simply devolution your telling me you dont want to stay perfect well then you truly are lost its like i said with point of view and remaining powerless
burwill007 3 years ago
i don't think you even understand what i'm talking about there. or are you using your own definition of nature?
there is no such thing as devolution. the closest thing would be going straight backward, the opposite of transhumanism.
you say we're perfect now? that's obviously false. i really do think you're just afraid or hateful towards something different from what you're familiar with.
drakeblackhorn 3 years ago
your a bitch to this universe my friend
burwill007 3 years ago
upgrade your body as much as you want but nothing last forever does it now its a pointless quest for perfection
burwill007 3 years ago
life doesnt get much better than this dont go and ruin it for yourself
burwill007 3 years ago
mosslund says it best
burwill007 3 years ago
but the underlying problem here is death and that cant be changed you have enough years to experience everything you want dont try and super extend yourlife span it only gives you more time to experience pain why give more problems to the world better your mind not yourself
burwill007 3 years ago
"...you have enough years to..."
i want to see every city on earth. i want to walk on the surface of every planet around Sol. i want to see other stars and walk on their planets. how can i do that with my short lifespan?
a longer life will experience more pain than a shorter life. it will also experience more that is good.
and you still haven't described what 'having a life' is. why can't someone 'have a life' and support transhumanism as well? i have a life i'm quite happy with, by the way.
drakeblackhorn 3 years ago
always wanting , that my friend is greed i talked about this before "attachment leads to jealousy" also like i said change your mind not your body
burwill007 3 years ago
so, be content with what little i know? it's very easy to be satisfied with a tiny, meaningless life, if you force yourself to.
i don't believe in perfection, merely being better than i currently am.
'a bitch to this universe'? what does that even mean?
drakeblackhorn 3 years ago
i think you are using your own definition of nature actually transhumanism is a full stop to natural evolution
burwill007 3 years ago
we already circumvented natural evolution, when we used technology to force our way to the top of the food chain, and eliminated all natural predators. we are no longer part of the normal circle of life, thus we have largely divorced ourselves from nature.
most individuals survive, weak selective pressure = little/slow evolution
with transhumanism, we would be taking full control of our makeup, and not relying on chance mutation to provide us with desirable traits to breed for.
drakeblackhorn 3 years ago
nope you still need nature to survive your still a bitch to this universe my friend your only taking an exterior change modifying your body when in fact it is an interior change that needs to occur thats true evolution transhumanism is simply a change of clothes the essence still remains
burwill007 3 years ago
trying to modify the world to the way we want it is a needles pursuit to fulfill your finite emotions you are not better than the universe dont try and be the best we are at one with literally everything perfect equilibrium
burwill007 3 years ago
transhumanism will probably destroy the world as we know it one day but luckily nature has its way of recycling its waste "A great civilization is not conquered from without, until it has destroyed itself from within" its evolution transhumanism simply is the path to evolution but
burwill007 3 years ago
i never said we'd escape natural laws/processes. and transhumanism is about improvement. we can improve ourselves on the basic, genetic level. what do you consider 'essence'?
we've been changing the world to suit ourselves ever since we started chopping down trees and making farms. we no longer coexist properly, since we aren't running around naked in the woods eating fruit.
ok, you've lost me now. you're sounding sort of pro-transhumanism with the last couple sentences.
drakeblackhorn 3 years ago
not in the way you think it will be, every civilisation falls and transhumanism will lead to the destruction of the 21st century and the rebirth of a new one and thus the great balance is restored
burwill007 3 years ago
we didnt use technology to force our way ontop of the food chain we evolved past the ways of agression and greed and fighting for survival our minds and bodies no longer need to fight for survival youve reached the top of the planets ranking list and still you want more it is the mind that needs to evolve not the body
burwill007 3 years ago
"we didnt use technology to force our way..."
you really are out of touch, if you're serious here. we fought our way to the top, using our technology. and we are still an aggressive species, still greedy. and we still fight for survival.
the mind can't evolve without the body.
drakeblackhorn 3 years ago
never deal in absolutes not everybody is like that the world is alot better then what you think it is maybe you just need to get out more ergo "get a life" the body is a vehicle for experience it serves a very specific purpose to modify change or destroy the body would be to ruin your experience and the experience of others leading to pain
burwill007 3 years ago
i will end my argument here because you can never answer a question without raising more questions i hope you enjoy your human experience
p.s. good luck with getting a life ; )
dont be too greedy now for it is a path to the darkside
=D
burwill007 3 years ago
you haven't even tried to see any point but yours. and now you part with insults. i can't say i didn't expect such a farce after seeing your first posts. oh well.
drakeblackhorn 3 years ago
in fact i think our next step is not so much a change in our bodies i belive it is a change in the mind look we are powerful enough with our minds we are greater than any animal on our planet notice how are bodies are not made to fight we have no claws or anything to do harm imagine if our minds were at a greater level of conciousnes than what they are now
burwill007 3 years ago
yes, our minds are our main survival trait. transhumanism would reinforce this trait, much faster than breeding ever could.
all would be able to reap the benefits, instead of just those with lucky genes. also, any net improvement through breeding would require that most individuals don't reproduce, or the improved breed would be completely separate from the others.
transhumanism would bring equality in this area.
drakeblackhorn 3 years ago
i mean is that not the source from which all of your actions stems from
burwill007 3 years ago
"i mean is that not the source from which all of your actions stems from"
can you be more specific? this doesn't mean much more than "your a bitch to this universe my friend".
taking what you say literally, the universe is the source of the actions of every living thing.
drakeblackhorn 3 years ago
ever acheived something youve really wanted its good isnt it but that too doesnt last forever you can visit every city you want in your lifetime only you are stopping yourself train yourself to let go of everything you fear to lose everything you need is here on earth not out their
burwill007 3 years ago
yes, all my immediate needs are here. so, if i train myself to be content, what's the point in your 'enough years' comment? or are you just using a different argument every time i address yours?
what's wrong with wanting to see more? what's wrong with wanting to be rid of genetic flaws? what's wrong with wanting to live until i've tired of life and want to die? i doubt i'll live to see most of this, but we can ensure the next generations will see a better life.
drakeblackhorn 3 years ago
thats what i mean you dont need loads and laods fo time do you
burwill007 3 years ago
the more time you have, the more you can achieve.
i want to see as much as possible. i don't quantify everything i want to see. i don't have a list. i want to exist until i'm tired of existing, while i explore and watch history pass by.
i don't need "loads and laods fo time". but what would life be worth if i stuck to my needs alone? i don't have nearly enough time to do everything i want, just enough to make my life meaningful. and there are countless unknowns for the curious to explore.
drakeblackhorn 3 years ago
you have enough years to do everything you want
burwill007 3 years ago

burwill007 3 years ago
extreme transhumanists will unbalance nature and cause chaos you dont seem like an extremist but you must understand you are responsible for your actions and putting faith in technology to give us an unreal and unatural life to fit our specific wants is wrong and the mentality will be passed down to our children
burwill007 3 years ago
the chain reaction set off will have us living off our emotions in fact our specific emotions transhumanists will probably stop the emotion of sadness and realise that we in fact need it the point is already here look we already have an argument transhumanism will lead to war
burwill007 3 years ago
how will improving humans unbalance nature? at least any more than unchanged humans have?
'faith in technology'? 'unreal and unnatural'? all technology is unnatural by the usage you're going by here.
some want to eliminate negative emotions, others, like me, don't. changes aren't going to be imposed on the entire species. only those who want to improve.
there probably will be war, when people who fear the improved humans strike out. just like when racists attack others. simple-minded fear.
drakeblackhorn 3 years ago
but thats dealing with the absolute that transhumanists will actually get anywhere life isnt just about us we live with nature its true we all have diferent views of life but it is important that we stay human and powerless our thoughts should only remain as a fantasy
burwill007 3 years ago
we don't live with nature. we've been largely separated from nature for millenia, and now share a sort of symbiotic relationship with our technology. transhumanism is simply the next step.
why should we 'stay human and powerless'? i'm starting to think you simply fear change.
and i do live in the real world. what transhumanism says is quite real. just like space exploration.
drakeblackhorn 3 years ago
wake up to reality and live in the real world get a life
burwill007 3 years ago
but the term transhumanism is thrown around alot these days but be warned there are extremists out their who literally want the world to be dominated by machines people who want ultimate control over their life other peoples lives and nature itself
burwill007 3 years ago
people who want the world to be dominated by machines are more than just transhumanists. transhumanism is about curing flaws and improving ourselves, not some kind of Matrix reality. i won't associate with any who advocate such lunacy, either.
you know, there are people who are just as opposed to mechanical limbs and such, and others who are opposed to most tech, as you are to transhumanism. and some use the same lines you do.

I think it's more of the ability to choose when we go
TristanPEJ 4 years ago
Well, if I choose not to "choose" when I die or if I die, then don't condemn me and I won't condemn you for choosing to do so. I'm 22 years old and I read Ray Kurzweil's the singularity is near when I was 20. I used to be so fascinated by my own thoughts about the future that I was sort of trapped in them. Now, I don't deny the possibilities of what transhumanism has to offer, but that is all they are - possibilities.

"those pessimists"
I'm an immortalist and those anti-imortalist I like to call them Deathists. Transhumanist term.

We, have already produced an artifical red blood cell. (About 1/3 the size and costed millions of $ to roduced)I hope this stuff happens in my lifetime, I'm 22.
DethMachineEngage 4 years ago
Nanomachines are going to be A LOT more important then just stoping aging and disease. They are capadable making us cyborgs.
DethMachineEngage 4 years ago
Who said the nanomachines couldn't make the cells non-organic? Why do the cells have to stay organic?
DethMachineEngage 4 years ago
well played good sir.
TristanPEJ 4 years ago
"besides those that are genetic"
Well, the nanomachines should also replace genetic code with something less corruptable. (like INI or something of that nature)
DethMachineEngage 4 years ago
would a cell be able to use that for protein synthesis?
TristanPEJ 4 years ago
i want to know why you subscribe to the idea.honest question, were does this desire for you to transform come from?
anrkistalx18 4 years ago
1. It is our evolution, a way for us to improve on what we are
2. It's going to happen anyway, might as well understand the ethics.
Alot of the reluctance is a fear of what we don't know.
TristanPEJ 4 years ago
our evolution? you cant possibly know what we will evolve to,and would this mean that all of humanity will have to transform or just those who share your sentiment?
anrkistalx18 4 years ago
well evolution is always in response to change, we are trying to evolve pass biological dependencies to break the final frontier into space.
TristanPEJ 4 years ago
interesting , it sounds like something straight out of brave new world, i think its morally wrong(and im an atheist) to tamper with genetics because people would never be satisfied, first genetics then theres no stopping it,we would essentially be cyborgs.interesting nonetheless. good vid btw.peace
anrkistalx18 4 years ago
its just a bunch of nazis who try to introduce this movement. sifi nerds and people who are not satisfied with their lives, or scared of death follow them. in nazi germany we called it "Rassenhygiene", eugenics in english.(they call it Transhumanism, posthumanism now). however, if this will happen one day,and replace humans, i hope this planet will explode.

For us. Read Charles Galton Darwin's 'The Next Million Years' wherein he say "we, the elite, shall not alter ourselves. We must retain our concious faculties to rule."

its a nice idea to be able to cure these cancers, such as death and ageing, but its hard to belive, do you have anything to back it up, and yes you can go faster than the speed of light, i know you wont belvie me but i can think faster than the speed of sound already give e a few years and i will be able to prove it is possible to think faster than the sound of light, i can already prove the speed of light is not the fastest, erm, you are right in some comments

death a disease?,in my opinion ,death is what makes life worthwile,my life will come to an end and i am perfectly comfortable with that,i cant imagine immortality ,i think i would commit suicide, why would you want to live forever?
anrkistalx18 4 years ago
ok, go die. More world for me. LOL! Nah... this immortality shit is a long way away. We'll both die happily ever after.
fnog9 4 years ago
I don't know about you, but I'd rather have the choice of dying than becoming an immortal slave without the right to transcend my current existance. Becoming immortal is only nice if you are totally free, immortal slavery must suck huh? Until humanity is ready to stop believing in Good and Evil, transhumanism will be used as a means to promote continued endless wars. Dualistic thinking principles is the problem, there is no Good or Evil in the Multiverses...only choices.
joshbaby2k7 4 years ago
Well, personally I believe that stupidity, aging, and death are not diseases at all. They are natural parts of existence, that you will never totally eliminate them. Death isn't a conclusion of existence, but a continuation of existance beyond what we currently understand of cognitive/subcognitive existence.
joshbaby2k7 4 years ago
you make a good point, but science so far has not even hinted that there is a chance of life after death.
TristanPEJ 4 years ago
and they are foolish to make these statements, dont you agree?
evTom14 4 years ago
yeah
TristanPEJ 4 years ago
you seem a decent guy, theirs not many on youtube, theirs you and one other
evTom14 4 years ago
Ok, let's get this straight. Not all transhumanists are atheists, and not all transhumanists think the same on all issues. Some elitists who call themselves transhumanists would tell you differently. The true transhumanists simply want a better life and see this happening through technology. Not all of us want to be immortal or become gods. We strive to be healthy, unlike this individual, so that we may live to see these things come to be in the future.
01R1CK10 4 years ago
what is natural? Science and research can push the boundaries of what is "natural". Transhumanists hope that some day, "immortality" is perfectly natural.
Also, there is probably no consciousness after death.

Are you familiar with Aubrey de Grey? He's working his ass off to slow and eventually stop the aging process. Check him out if you haven't. They have interviews with him on youtube.
