  • gosh, this was just rediculous..wow!..it seems like they would have seen traces of the women or something on the seat, it seems a thero investigation wasn't done like protocol says to do...wow! somebody wasn't payin attention to what was spose to be done....

  • Emergency services should check all possible spaces for survivors, and therefore find any deceased unfortunates.

  • Oops!

  • Was Mrs. Williams not wearing her seat-belts and relying only on the airbag for protection?

In EMS, I can see this happening.

In clutter and debri inside a wrecked vehicle, clothing, sheets, blankets, coats papers get thrown around and pile anywhere.

That, plus deployed airbag can cover her body.

    Sorry she died.

  • If you noticed, they didn't mention the fire department...the firefighters wouldn't have noticed that I bet you...

  • If you noticed, they didn't mention the fire department...the firefighters wouldn't have missed that I bet you...

  • Speaking from experience, I have worked crashes so severe that victims weren't visible or accessible until all or parts of the passenger compartment were completely dismantled ... however, we never left a scene until that was accomplished ...

  • obscured by an airbag? god damn u cali people are stupid as shit. well thats not giving shit its credit. sue the police and emts for overlooking a god damn human life, sent her to the salvage yard in her coffin? oh yea if theres a hell i know u all have a front row seat.

  • i can understand her being tiny and covered or obstructed by the airbag, but wouldn't you think the authorities would go over the car with a fine tooth comb?

I know how I would feel if she was my mother or sister or aunt. Unbelievable!

  • WTF?

  • so what happened? put the results in the description

  • thats just effin stupiid!!!!!!!

    thats really unprofessional!

  • fire dept is got to be suied they did not do a real seaqrch check there reports and times out bet they lied on a leagel papper they must send in to the state

  • OMG. nothing surprises me these sad times.

  • In San Antonio the same thing happen to my cousin she was driving here Nisan Altima when some stupid cunt f*** woman was was drunk was doing 110 on the wrong side of the highway in a 1975 Ford truck without light on at 2 AM slammed head on into my cousin Altima. My cousin was still alive after the impact but EMT's thought she was dead coving here body..well she still had a pulse and how my aunt has filed wrong full death suit against city of san antonio and EMT's did not follow procedure

  • soooo...how do you know she still had a pulse if nobody checked her?And if they checked her...how did they think she was dead?

  • The son didn't care too much about his mother I'd say.

  • Conveniently the Coroner said she died a few minutes after the accident? Really.

HEY YOU SMALL FOLKS, SHORT WOMAN, KIDS, EVEN MEN, if you are short and sit close to the airbag you can be killed by the air bag, especially on older models. New ones have a sensor to lower the pressure for smaller people or turn ability to turn it off. Early airbags where too strong and hurt people badly or killed them.

Airbag and seat belt you would think if the driver lived. She was older but come on.

  • dick

  • Typical potheads in California to miss something like a body in a car. I'm sure they had to hurry up because surf was up, or something like that.

  • "..unless she was a midget" lol

  • omfg...human error?

...somebody smoked a joint that day.

    Wreckless!

  • fucked up

  • thats fuckin horrible there not anyway thay could have passed her up and that would have to be a huge airbag to cover up a person, and im sorry for the lost of who ever the family was

  • well first off the son should have told the county about the woman in the car with him and if he couldnt talk he could have at least gave them a clue that she was in the car thats just terrible how that happens

  • Somthing like this just happen a week ago in cleveland ohio, a man was found dead two days later after missing, In the junkyard (horrible) they said they had proof he was still alive at the time

  • The son was in stable condition. Didn't anyone ask where the mom was?

  • O M G I never heard of that happening but if it really dark airbag covered her up but you would think they would investigate if there were more people in the car i got thrown from a car i was 4 they found me 15 ft from the car if it was nightime they might not have seen me

  • how the fuck can some one over look that?! jesus christ

  • Cluster fuck and a half! Hope the son sue'd the shit outta the county!

  • thats so sad im sorry this happened

  • That is absolutly ridiculous.. How can that possibly happen? Only in america?!

  • Thats terrible. Poor effort by emergency crews.

  • I'm surprised that no one discovered the body until later. I mean, wouldn't it have smelled?

  • No. The body doesn't smell when the person first dies unless the bowels, (intestines), are ripped open...Sniff yourself, do you smell now? Decomposition usually kicks in at about 3 days, maybe after 2 in hot weather.

  • Ah, interesting bit of trivia. Thank you!

  • People make mistakes

  • prob. meant no shes already dead cuz he was so shooken up

  • My daughter of 15 was in a fatal crash and she was thrown so far that it wasn't until the second look that she was even noticed. The only reason that the crews searched was because of the survivors of the crash told them where to locate her. Poor Marissa. I miss her so much. It was such a senseless act. She knew better than to get in the car with a drunk driver. It happened on Mother's Day, 2003. Well, the driver was also killed. There were 3 survivors. I just wish she would have called me.

  • You have my condolences.

No child should lose a parent early in life and no parent should lose a child, ever!!!

  • That's aweful acuiriz. You say she was thrown very far. Was she not wearing a seatbelt?

  • She was not wearing a seatbelt. also, she knew better than to get in the car with a drunk driver.........I thought!!!!!

  • I am so sorry mate............ I have 3 sisters and I know I would miss any one of them.

  • yea, right!

  • @acuiriz sorry for your loss

  • @acuiriz Thank you for your story. I'm sorry you lost your child, maybe someone can read this and save their own life or save the life of someone else if ever put in the situation as your daughter found herself in.

  • @acuiriz Not wearing her seat-belt?

    Sorry that she died.

  • @acuiriz I'm sorry for your loss she was way too young

  • I have worked collisions that were so severe that we have had to count pieces to see how many victims there were. In one, where 4 teens were killed, we thought there were onlt three until we came up with too many leg pieces. If the crash was severe enough, it would be easy to miss a small framed person who was crushed into the wreckage. You have to remember, the car folds around itself, especially at the dash area, and a small person could literally be folded between layers and not visible.

  • My unprofessional opinion... I've heard that in high impact collisions, people can be completely forced/crushed into the floorboard area of a vehicle... Maybe she wasn't IN the seat at all and would easily be covered by an airbag... Still blows my mind that such little detail was paid to the vehicle.

  • According to the news report, the woman was very small and even if belted in could have been on the floor just like you say.

We have actually found small children, who were belted into the back seat, forced under the front seat from a head on impact.

  • Surely, whether she was killed on impact, or at some later time should have no bearing on any legal action. The actions of the police/fire department etc are the same, whether she was alive or dead. I know this isn't how the law works however, I'm just giving my views.

  • I agree with you completely!!! The only follow up information I've been able to find on this is that the coroner said that "blunt force trauma" was the cause of death. Nothing on the investigation into how the responding personnel didn't notice her. Granted, I don't have time to look through the local paperss front to back, so it's possible I've missed a story. But this should be widely covered.

  • I just did another Google search on this and read a LA Times report dated the same day as the newscast. It seems that the rescue personnel asked the driver, the victims son, if there was anyone else in the car and he told them no. But speaking from experience, you do not take the word of someone who is shaken up from an accident. You look for and into all possibilties. It's standard proceedure.

  • Incredible. Although the one thing about human beings is - we're human, and we make mistakes. If people are trying their best, but under loads of stress etc and slip up - its bad news. However, lets hope this wasnt the fault of someone who just couldnt give a damn...

  • I wouldn't at all be suprised if certain powers leaned on the coroner/coroner's staff to find conclusively her death was caused by the accident, regardless of any evidence to the contrary.

  • stu22aus,

An attempt at a cover up is definetly a possibility, but regardless of the coroners report, the paramedics and police on scene are going to have to explain why they didn't remove the passenger side airbag to look for any other possible victim. I don't think this will go away quiet and easy.

  • Neither can I Vicki. I refrain in the video from giving a professional opinion, but here I will say it is inexcusable. They should have deflated the airbag to look just as a matter of routine. A child could easily be hidden by an air bag.

  • Later in the same broadcast there was a report of an accident, I believe in Arizona, that the paramedics pronounced a young woman dead, but when the coroner arrived he found that she was still alive. Those things do happen relatively often and I understand how those mistakes can be made.

  • unbelievable. I am speechless ... cannot comprehend HOW this kind of thing can happen.
