  • Correct me if I'm wrong, but as a congressman, Michael would have no direct authority over the state on such matters. Rather, he could offer his input to the process and work to convince state legislators to enact laws constitutionally. Indeed, mrdivot22's observation is well founded. As a congressman, his views on the issue have no direct bearing on choice. So, staying within the bounds of the constitution would be more pragmatic. Though, I respect Michael's personal views and honesty.

  • Pro-life isn't terribly popular in liberal areas such as Washington. It could cost you votes. An important thing to say that would limit any such losses is that you support the states' authority to permit abortion, and that, regardless of your opinion, the issue of abortion is in the hands of the people, not the politicians.

It is important to acknowledge that electing you will have no effect on women's right to choose: being pro-life is merely reflective of your personal character and morals.

  • I agree completely.. Pro-life=anti-woman=bible thumper to much of blue Washington. It's best to just stick with the Constitutional standpoint.
