1. as far as i know yes they are

2. no there arnt controler slots, but there are usb slots, and the controllers are bluetooth. any ps3 can have up to 7 controlers connected, but u can only charge 2 at a time

3. the new firmware update (v3.10) does incorporate facebook into the ps3 experience

4. it depends on the modle. the first ones that came out were backwards compatible, but if ur buying it new, no they are not backwards compatible

it is the next console. you need an xbox 360 to hook up with it to work. its sorta like a projector, where it can detect how you move and all that, sorta like a super advanced wii.

u need the memory card adaptor for the ps3. it cost about 15 bucks. also once u do this u can make internal memory cards in the ps3 for ps1 and ps2 games. I just downloaded all the memory from my old ps1 and ps2 memory cards into the ps3. after that u dont need the use of the old memory cards. keep it just in case though

Its a cheap blu-ray player, free net, is better etc.

Well, it would all depend on what you like in an HD gaming console. If you like easily connecting online and playing games online(i love to play gta iv online), then the PS3 if for you. If you like various online options such as netflix and gamefly, then the 360 is for you. I have the PS3 and 360, overall i like the PS3 better because it's better quality online play(less lagging and skipping!) and a shade better graphics. Of course, it is a bit more expensive. They aren't that expensive though, well not anymore, back when I got my first HDMI cables about 5 years ago they were running $60-70 now they range about $10-20. At least its not like xBox who makes you buy a $100 hard drive and another adapter for going wireless. You would think they would at least include that (wireless adapter) because they make you pay $50 a year to join xBox live?
