I think I remembered seeing something a while back that during the battle of Santa Cruz, Chinese merchant traders were buying supplies from some Japanese.The Japanese warned the merchants that if they spotted American ships that they better toss the cargo overboard or they would be executed on the spot by the American. I think the game creators put it in for historical reasons. Then again i might be wrong...
