The uploader failed to post that this only works with 40GB version of PS3. If you have any other version, you have to stick with the physical PS2 console. If yours say "Unsupported format", it means it cannot run it... duh...

You have to download a add on from ps3 network that is called ps2 system data and all it is , its that it will be able to read your ps2 games but it wont wotk if your ps3 system uptade is higher than 2.60 .

Okay... 20GB, 60GB and 80GB (2007)... Those are the only models of the Playstation 3 That play PS2 games. 40GB 80GB (late 2008), 160GB, 120GB, 220GB... Those are the models that do not play PS2 games.. only PS1...

If you want to buy a ps3 try and find a 60GB model... It is the best choice for PS2 games.

for us with 20gb, 40gb, 120 gb, and 250gb ps3s, our backwards compatibility works much differently than on 60gb or 80gb versions. The easiest way to spot that you HAVE a BC ps3 is the 4 USB ports. If there's only 2, then ur ps3 doesn't internally have BC. So, Sony made a download where you have the System data of a PS2 in the PSN Store. Download that and then you can only play games that require you to download the game to the HDD. So far, the only game I know works is Final Fantasy X.
