Wow!! Thanks for that. Bobby was the best and to see him with these other two legends is fantastic. Thought I knew most of the people he sang with, but this was a surprise for me. Keep up the great work.
This is from a BBC production called "Engelbert and the Young Generation" that aired in Germany and the UK in 1972. I have the German version. Most of the show is in German except for the songs. I think that it was commercially available in Europe at one time. I don't know if it still is.
I didn't think Englebert sounded cheesy at all. In fact as big a Bobby Darin fan as I am I'm sure it must have been uncomfortable to stand next to that guy while he was in his prime in terms of voice & stage presence.
Incredibly moving r&b interpretation by Darin of the Dylan classic. I prefer it to the Bobby's original cover. On the other hand, Englebert's rendition is just cheesy. Very rare clip. Thanks for posting.
He looks so small next to Engelbert. I don't like watching clips from '72. He looks so ill- and his soul or his voice just didn't seem to be there. However- zoom to the Mack is Back special- and just watch Splish Splash- back on form!
Could you tell me where you got the show from, what show is it? And do you have any other songs from the show?
I like this clip because I really like the song "Blowin' in the Wind" (especially Bobby's LP version), but this is the only video that I've been able to find of Bobby singing it. It's from a TV series called "Englebert with the Young Generation" that aired in the UK and Germany. I only have the one episode, and most of it, except for the songs, is in German. I got it from a friend. I think that she got it from someone who found it overseas.
This is great but I'm still waiting to hear his LP version with that fabulous male chorus accompaniment. It is such an outstanding version, probably THE outstanding version. I hope it gets posted soon. Thanks in advance.
Thats fantastic I never heard this version before ,they should put this on the radio ,like the Blues Hour or something like that.

How fabulous a trio they made - all lengendary stars - Miss Nancy Wilson is in a class by herself to this very day - just regal and pure class.

Amazed three such different singers came up with such a cohesive performance. I guess professionalism will always tell.

Did Nancy Wilson just finish performing something prior to this performance? If so, would youmind sharing it on youtube? I would love to see it.

Engelbert's soulfulness is unbeatable as he swings out blo-oo-wi-ng at 2:27-28! Awesome post bobbyfan64, thanks for sharing!

He's an ass for saying Engelbert sounded cheesy. Our guy Engelbert is simply the best. No one can be compared!
