it doesn't seem to work on iPodTouch - or is it just me? I have an external mic, so... i don't see the problem why voice recognition shouldn't be allowed.

Excellent results, but I wonder how accented or dialectal speech will affect the results of Google App Voice Recognition?

It seems to require near perfect English pronunciation.
