i understand you doing a review on the tripods but i'm ex military too and that is not what shooting is about. if you have to use a tool to steady your rifle then you obviously can't shoot!!! do you see snipers in the field using pods????????? NO!! RANT OVER.
@garethjohndavies I'm glad there are skilled people like you in our military who don't need crutches like this. But for people who drink too much coffee (me), and can't see the head of a groundhog @ 300 yards, I require more than a bipod and open sights.
Going to the McFaden's webiste I was reluctant to install your plugins as suggested or required. I'm not sure they should be necessary. My Flash plugins are already up to date...it's too risky. I already use 10.3 on Flash.
@1LonePuma Not sure why there are plugins. If you would like information on our Tripods, you can email me and I will send you info back. djamison@mcfaden.com
@kokanokka The most would be $110.00 USD for the shipping. That would be for a standard tripod with 50" legs. Depending on the leg size you want, the shipping could be a little less due to weight of package. The tripod prices and options are listed on our website. (mcfaden.com)
Shipping cost for England would be $110.00 USD, that includes the cost of insurance on the package. Then you would have any duty charges that England may add on.
You can email me at: djamison @ mcfaden com if you have any more questions.
Yes, they are still available. We can ship to the UK, it will just cost you more in shipping. visit our website for pricing of the tripods. (mcfaden.com)
This just seems to take the fun out of it. I use a monopod for pest control because I want to be clinical but when target shooting it's freehand all the way.
got to say tho i do some 1000 yard and some 1509 yard shoting 4 fun and this bit of kit i could hit the target time after time coz its always me that miss not my rifle
what about breaking and egg at 800 meters, that would be hard even with the tripod, you dont need a tripod for that distance, even a bb gun will do the job.
@459dave459 Just seen on the news that the hostage Linda Norgrove was killed by us forces. Add that information to all the other cases of people being killed by american so called "friendly fire" and I'd say they need all the help they can get.
@sensi2323 Yes, they do need all the help they can get. I don't know anything about this situation, but usually it's not a problem of missing the target, it's aiming at the wrong thing because of the confusion or bad intel. I feel bad for her family. You always hear about the innocents lost, but never any estimates of the innocents saved by the US actions.
@treszsen, It weighs 15 lbs, just a little more than my varmint rifle. I wouldn't want to carry it all day, but out to a hunting position is not a problem. Too long to adjust? The time from carrying and spotting a target to slipping it off your shoulder, and sticking it in the ground, setting your rifle on it and taking an accurate 500+ yard shot is less than 10 sec. If you are already setup, target acquisition is literally 2-3 sec. to steady crosshairs on kill zone.
@sensi2323 Maybe you ought to enlist and help out yourself. Just like anal orifices, everyone has an opinion...however they should be reserved about showing one as the other.
@sensi2323 they did not kill linda from bad accuracy they killed her because of a bad grenade. you cannot really aim a grenade if you tried even if its the most perfect thrown its always unpredictable.
@sensi2323 I love how you talk shit when you probably cant even shoot a 18 wheeler going 3 mph in front of your ass 15 yards away. Our military sharpshooters will rape your ass anyday so until you can do better, dont talk shit.
It seems that you have never actually used an Ultimate Tripod. I 've had mine for 19 years leaning against the porch and it still looks good . It is the best thing I have found for those long shots that I need to make. Some sporting people who think this is cheating should grab a rock or a club to go hunting, because anything more is cheating. On a farm there are no sporting concerns, only varmints and predators that need taken care of like any other job.
Base price of 281 dollars. This item seems kind of heavy for a hunting accessory. If it had injection molded plastic legs it would be lighter and more weather friendly.I don't know how you would patent an item that is a direct copy of a survey tripod. But,maybe if you have changed it by 20% it defeats the original patent design.
@billyjo856 Everyone is entitled to there own opinion. We built the tripod to be extremely rigid (NO PLASTIC), instead of worrying about the weight of it. It weights 15lbs with the 24 " legs. We don't have a patent on it, nor did we ever apply for one. And it is of our own design and although similar, it is not based on the design of a survey tripod. The only thing more rigid is sand bags on a concrete bench.

i consider this cheating, it doesnt 'take the shake out your shot', it just holds the gun perfectly so all you have to do is pull the trigger, i would only use this to zero the scope
pretty cool video, thats definitely a stable shooting platform. Takes the skill outta shooting, thats funny how you dont even need to touch the rifle besides the trigger pull. Don't get too dependent on that.
When you can't see, you put a scope over your iron sights. When your 30 30 Winchester doesn't reach out far enough, you get a magnum. When you drink so much coffee that you are unable to hold your modern accurized rifle to utilize its full potential, you have to use a crutch like this. Some marksmen do not need it. Some others (like me) can't even hold an iron sighted sling shot well enough.
It depends on the camera that you have. Most point and shoot cameras will see thru binoculars and scopes. Barry mounted his pocket camera with the tripod socket onto a L shaped aluminum strap that he screwed to the butt of the stock.(2:04 in video) My Sony had a large threaded filter mounting ring on the body around the lens. I used a piece of a plastic kitchen sink trap adapter tightened onto the Leopold scope, to mate with the threads on the camera.(1:30)
Have you tried to video it? That makes it alot harder. I was just trying to show the smoothness of the tripod. I'll try to put a camera on my telescope next time we have an egg shoot. 200 yards was good for me, too boring for the good guys using the Tripod, I had to move some out to 450 yards. Dale had 4 hits with 5 shots.....
I went to the website that sold these and there are a LOT of different option. Is this just the standard tripod? Are there any accesorios/optional things you added to it because I want mine o be just like that one in the video.
do u get any self satisfaction using this crap. i fell like i cheated the animal, if i shot it from 100yrds let alone using something like this. least close up it has the chance of bein spooked
I guess you're like my grandmother who grabbed a knife and killed a whitetail deer that jumped into her chicken yard. Do you think that all people should be like her? This was developed so I could remove all of the ground hogs from our farm to prevent cattle injuries and machinery damage. I like cheating.......
