what is 'polyrythym'; sounds like some twee music journalist term to talk about something they haven't got a clue about; does it go with 'jangly guitars'?
@Captain2Pig Polyrhythm is two (or more) different rhythms played together. The different rhythms almost sound out of time, but 'sync up' every certain amount of beats. An easy example is triplets played over straight 8th notes. It'll sound weird, but on every beat the rhythms will meet... however, there's no polyrhythm in this video... he's freestylin' it baby!
(jangle guitars) what? its what the word sounds like, more than one type of rhythm going on at the same time. think of something in triple versus something in duple, if you're counting 1-3 and 1-4 its different right? lay those two rhythms down together as two parallel lines and every 12 beats they will meet back at 1. use google before making ignorant comments next time.
@ShotByABazooka ' i took your advice and looked up google - Polyrhythym - Polyrhythm in general is a nonspecific term for the simultaneous occurrence of two or more conflicting rhythms, of which cross-rhythm is a specific and definable subset.—Novotney (1998: 265). NONSPECIFIC - journalistic bullshit. Ignorance is a state of being uninformed. I've played music since i was 8 years old. Using basic counting techniques that means around 22 years. You must be the master
@Captain2Pig I'm only 23, but I've been playing and studying music for all my life, that's roughly 2-3 years under you. However, I am both classically and jazz trained from the elementary to college level, I even went to high school for it. The term polyrhythm is in fact not as you call "journalistic bullshit." It is a term used in music theory and its definition is used specifically in the context of music theory. Any musician who has a decent background of music training knows this term.
Congrats, dpg1768... this is the first Korg PadKontrol video I've seen on Youtube that sounds like it was made by a musician making actual music, instead of some talentless child pushing keypads like a chimp.
Yes I have heard of polyrythm.. and if you can give me the timing and the measures for this "solo", then you convinced me. I guess you can't. Good luck :)
no sorry i couldn't hear many polyrythm's either dont know wat i was taliking about alot of sixteenth notes on the toms and a few off beats on the rides ????
Hey...it´s a no timming and no polyrythm solo. Only a free solo plying with tripletts. If you can see polyrythm and right time playing see the other videos. bye
he was talking about the midi ones... the mpd series... I've a 2000xl and I had mpd 24 and 32 and that's no comparison between 2000xl pads and mpd pads... mpd pads sucks!!! they are too hard. so pedro escobar have reason... padkontrol pads are way better than akai mpd pads. sorry my bad english
mpc and padkontrol are two different things (the latter being midi only), however you can use the padkontrol to control an mpc (i know i have that exact setup)
how does the size and spacing of the pads feel? I have quite chunky digits. I would like to be able to do a roll on a single pad using two fingers of the same hand, are the pads big enough for this?
Dude thats a good solo. I'm a drummer and I plan on buying one. Do you need a good computer for this or would just a old dell from 05 work ok? Plus do you need any special program like ableton? Or does it come with a basic one?

very agile fingers and they know the padkontrol very well. Nice natural sounding drums, a casual listener would think it was a real kit.

firehandszarb 3 years ago
The pads are large enough to do two finger rolls, but you may find it easier to just assign the same sample to two pads.
The advantage of that would be that you could change the velocity of one pad to be slightly lower or higher and get a more natural, dynamic sound....
iheartsedric 3 years ago
Ended up buying one, the pad size is ok and they are nicely spaced.
