How To Install Free McBoot, Ulaunch Using Swap Magic Method

Hey boss wondering of you can help me out. Swapmagic 3.8 (i've tried both cd & DVD) exactly what you did. promlem is that I'm only getting a black screen no Free MCBoot screen. Is it possible my disks are bogus? Also note that I can't even swap out burned disks. I'm maily just looking to run HDLoader.

Hi Your "SWAPMAGIC" package is corrupt!!

Last night i want to install it on my PS2 slim, when i want to start to install form FMCB menu i get files not found error's in INSTALL folder :S

When i check it on my pc the file's are in the INSTALL folder.

But fixed by my self to copy the INSTALL folder from a FMCB site and copy it on my USB stick and nouw it works :D

Bah. I installed it using version 1.7, and now when I boot up the PS2 with the memory card in the screen flickers and won't load. Can anyone offer some help?

Also, when I load Tales of the Abyss/Legendia (NTSC on a PAL console) it freezes at the NamcoBandai/NOW LOADING Screen. Why is this?

after installing multi version of freemcboot it ruined my memory card (2 64 MB cards). i bought a new 1, a 16 MB and im afraid to do it as it might destroy again my newly bought card.....pls. help on why is that happening! i need to play games using my usb drive as not to weaken the lens of my ps2.

Nevermind got it, I went to the official freemcboot file and downloaded the noobie_package.rar and just used that renaming FREE-MCBOOT.elf to SWAPMAGIC.ELF

Hm. Have tried this method several times to no avail. I am using a Kingston DataTraveler 8GB usb stick with SwapMagic 3.6 Plus as a boot method. I have everything installed on my usb fine, and have tried naming and renaming different folders/files etc. It always results in a freeze at the SwapMagic boot screen. Maybe Its not recognizing my usb stick?

It turns out that my USB stick was'nt being recognized..instead I used my SD card with the USB reader for it and everything went just fine.

@Ronnyonfire : Please describe your action. Are you using Swap Magic with What ? Swap Magic on its own can't detect USB. You need USBAdvance for the same and your USB HDD must be FAT32 not NTFS.

I have a PAL PS2 cus I live in UK

Do I really have to convert NTSC ISOs to PAL before I play or can I just patch with ESR and not have to patch with NTSC to Pal?

Also, second question, can this convert both American (NTSC-U) games and Japanese (NTSC-J) games or can this just convert American (NTSC-U) games?

@Miles52431 : You don't have to patch NTSC ISO file, if you are using Free McBoot / Swap Magic. It works for me w/o patch.

Regarding your second question, I've never tried NTSC-J, can't give 100% correct answer but it should work

oh ok i was using cd 2.0 and dvd 3.0 but i figured a way around this by using your method and someone elses method. i used dvd 3.0 to but up ulauncher on a dvd (since my SM cd 2.0) doesnt work half the time) and then used the files you showed on mu usb and i can now finaly use my HDD i am sooo happy becuase my dvd drive was dieing and even new games out of the box wouldnt work half the time so no i just rip them to pc and put them on the hdd thanks for all the help

After you went to mass, Ideally you should select the program which you want to use like USBAdvace to play PS2 games from USB HDD or any other program.

Let me know the version of your PS2 ? If it is latest then replace SWAPMAGIC.elf with ULAUNCH.elf (rename ULAUNCH.elf to SWAPMAGIC.elf) and it should work. I've tried 2-3 models and it worked

You need Swap Magic 3.x (Original disk). This video is helpful if you want to play games from USB HDD but if you want to play PS2 burned games then just block your PS2 sensors and start PS2 with Swap Magic and once you get logo screen then replace your burned ps one or ps2 game. This should work.

If you face any problem in blocking ps2 sensors then let me know and I will try to create video for the same later in the day.

Hey I have a USB with everything in it, im ordering swap magic 3.0 right now, and i have my ISO ill patch it and then burn it to dvd+r, put swap magic in+memcard+usb and then i install freemcboot, and then use ESR to run my burned game, does this formula look foolproof?

Ideally it should work. I've tried with 9xxx and it worked. Not sure why not working in your case.

I'm using the method you described here. I've installed all files to a FAT32 formatted usb mem stick and installed everything according to the video twice. But still no result...

Now here is the problem: When the USB stick "boots" the screen goes black. What am I doing wrong???

I'm using CODER Magic Swap 3.8 plus. My PS2 model is a 70004 model. The USB stick is 1 gb in size - but I've heard that it should work fine up to 2 gb.

I hope you can help me.
