There just isn't the money to pay 92% (in many cases 100%) of the medical benefits. Sorry! Welcome to 1995 - that is when my company decided that they couldn't afford that cost. Only government workers, firemen, cops and the teachers assume that the public has the money to pay for these "cadillac" benefits. The gravy train is over. Hey, if your rich, go ahead and pay EXTRA so they can still pay those benefits! Nothing stopping you.

Not pay into the pension system. 8 yrs from now, after having teachers pay more, we'll be back to where we are now. actually worse. we will by then have to pay 5.5B of our tax money into pension system rather then 3.5 now. The taxpayers will wake up to this in about 8 yrs.He is snowing us.Think we are saving money now?Where would he get the $ from if we did 401K's now?

These are basic services that should be paid for by the government, unions are great for government contractors and employees but for most of the private sector they do more harm than good.

Actually the private sector does more good than harm. It is because of the private sector that this country is able to survive economically. I do agree that the government should provide some of the services that we can not offer ourselves. But here's what I find conflicting in your comment:

Even if that was a private sector job, they should still save the house. Chances are that groupe of FFs will not be seeing another paycheck.

But it isn't the private sector that is the problem. If it was a volunteer, then that person is in trouble. However I did learn in Econ, that there are some goods and services that the private sector may not be able to produce. This is a Conservative Econ teacher speaking to me and the rest of the class about this.

However my Econ/Civics teacher is a very Conservative, and a Pro-Newt man.

And he is an amazing teacher, and it is easy for me to relate to him.
