  • Koko also made history as the first recipient of Undertaker's tombstone piledriver

  • I can't explain the good feeling I have now to know the Birdman is OK and doin fine in life. No one really told me how fast life goes now it been a quarter century later. That generation stills need you. If Koko hears this: I remember what lead to Andre gettin slammed and that was the aftermath of Koko in some respect. You were beginning with wrestling logic that was cutting edge. Other Guys in the sport copied the moves the whole sport moved smoother with less injury and bigger payoff.Piledriver

  • hes 51 here, but ageless.

  • Wasn't Koko also "Sweet Brown Sugar" the masked wrestler?

  • @usarmycaptainamerica The masked "Sweet Brown Sugar" was Skip Young from Texas. In the early 80s (81, I believe), Koko turned heel and joined Jimmy Hart. Hart named him "Sweet Brown Sugar," but he didn't wear a mask. Only the name. Skip Young was very popular in Florida with that name (under the mask) at the same time, but Young was a babyface, Koko was a heel.

A couple of years later, in 83, Koko lost a loser leaves town and wrestled as "Stagger Lee" under a mask for a full year, I believe.

  • sometimes love... feels just like a Piledriver!!!

  • @SeanOMatic Wow, ur "tough" with your language. But anyways ur a mark of YouTube! First of all, our points about Koko B Ware are irrelevant. Because the WWE is not a true HOF. And if your a wrestling buff like me, u should know this. But apparently your not! Yeah, yeah , cuss at me with a response.

  • Best drop kicks in the business

  • Koko's a motherfucken token. I bet he knows deep down inside that he a charity case. He made No impact in wrestling. He's a Uncle Tom of the WWE. Ron Simmons and Butch Reed made more of an impact.

  • @dasteelers75

Fuck you, man. Koko was an entertaining guy with good ring work and a hell of a drop kick.

  • at least he got in there with Ric an many others someone has to be in the ring with another person or its just one guy flopping around so jobber or no i respect this great 80's era superstar nuff said.

  • ooooooohhhhhhhh yeahhhhh Mean Gene.........ooooohhhhhh yeaaahhhhh! Sometimes love is like a piledriver!

  • @DTA550 lol! You hit it right on the money. This fool wasn't even a mid carder in the wwf. He was a glorified jobber at best. Hall of famer? I don't think so! Might as well put in the Red Rooster.

  • Koko is a piece of shit hanging off Frankies ass. Hall of licking the white mans ass dancing like a fool with a fucking bird and fake gospel preaching. Stick that ring up your ass while jobbing on the indys. Hall of Fame. Give me a break.

  • koko rules

  • Where's Frankie?

  • KOKO ill see you 11-5-10 brother 1cw dayton ohio

  • Actually, Iceman King Parson's fought Harley Race for the NWA Title in 83

  • @MrTbrowne1075

parsons held the world title(the first) but wasnt widely recognized, same for bobo brazil with the nwa title

ron simmons ofcourse, was the first widely recognized legit world champ

  • sometimes love is like a slow dance!!

  • at least he said "black American"

  • Why are people saying something else then? People are acually saying on youtube after having a 7 year gimmick (1985-1992) Sid Justice was getting pops while a heel, and savage was getting "dragged-on" pops.

  • um,koko b ware is my uncle didntnobody die,,..,,qet your factsz strait,,.,.,

  • Frankie the parrot was the only casualty of that fire.

  • That wooo from the bird man sounded like a wolf howling. lol

  • What is he a greeter at Wal Mart now?

  • Koko seems like such a nice guy

  • Koko kind of looks and sounds like Tony Gwynn

  • woooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  • There's a lot of guys Ric Flair inspired and help make....but there's a lot of bigger names that Ric Flair had nothing to do with...names that may even be bigger than him..

like Bruno Sammartino, Andre the Giant, Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage, the Ultimate Warrior...

  • Bruno and Savage were no where near as big as Flair. Bruno was a territorial star, Randy was ONLY big because Flair and Hogan carried him- and if Hogan carried ya, you cant be much. No one compares to the draw Andre was- and Hogan was a matter of right place right time righ look. I have seen 2 matches in my life that Flair was in that I thought coulda been better, both in the last 2 years- I have seen only one match involving Hogan that I didnt think, man that guy can work to save his ass.

  • Are you kidding? Hogan and Flair carried Savage? If anything, it was the other way around! Flair is debateable, but there is NO DOUBT that Savage was a better wrestler than Hogan... and his mic skills were right there with Hogan's, if not better!!! The only thing that Hogan had that Savage lacked was size!

  • I couldnt agree with you more!

No one carried Savage and he was a better athlete than either Flair or Chump Hogan!

He was great on the mic and far more out there and entertaining! A great old match you may be able to find on here is macho man vs. dynamite kid.

  • was replying to siglewing44

  • Yes, thats a great match.

Both prime for prime, high flying and fast.

Savage chews Dynamite on the mike though. Infact Savage chewed up everyone on the mike, except maybe the snake man.

  • wheres that bird of his??

  • you mean frankie?

  • i guess ... yeah

  • Unfortunately he died in a house fire that burned down Koko's house.

  • oh damn, sorry to hear that ...and those birds live many years I'm guessing.

  • Koko sounds a bit like Gary Coleman

    Never noticed that before

  • his wooooo sounded like a wolf

  • We went TWENTY FIVE minues. Hmmm.... What a classic nearly 45 minutes shy of a Flair Broadway.

  • Nice guy!

  • Koko was a HELLUVA football player in high school...Class AA All state Nose tackle in 1976 at Union City High school..Union City, Tennessee..built like a damn tree stump..LOL

  • Yeah Koko had power and athletism that was really underrated.

  • Koko was a great entertainer and high flyer, but you can't tell me that there isn't more deserving candidates who haven't been selected.Bob Backlund,Bruno Sammartino,& Owen Hart all come to mind.Mind you,Martha won't allow owen to be inducted and Sammartino wants nothing to do with it.

  • Owen Hart would have been inducted already but his wife doesn't want it.

  • Koko looks a bit like D'Lo Brown

  • not even close. are you fucking retarded

  • I like Koko and all, but I still think Rick Rude should be in the HOF as well

  • Well done KoKo well deserved, now this HOF will be a little more colourful and exciting. Just like you was.

  • In this, and other interviews of his I've seen, Koko seems like a pretty nice guy. Very little bad to say about anyone. He was announced the other day as another WWE Hall of Fame inductee. Good for him, very deserving.

  • I'm so glad that Koko will be in the WWE 2009 Hall of Fame. Congrats Birdman!

  • i pinned koko beware

  • koko was cool he wasnt a jobber when he first entered wwf.remeber him having some classic time limit draws with muraco, muraco buried jobbers.

  • Coco was not a jobber he won lots of times and was really popular because of his attitude and ability. And he had a bird that was cool. He had sort of the role that Rey Mysterio has now?

  • i would not say he he won against a lot of "popular" wrestlers, he was more a launching pad for upcoming wrestlers, they would beat him and then gain a lot of popularity....but koko was great for the younger crowd back then....look him up on wikipedia...com

  • I remember Koko back during his stint in the Midsouth.

  • he was totaly adgile great athlete

  • Yeah, I remember him doing top-rope dropkicks and landing on his feet. Very agile.

  • That's what made Flair the best. He gave Koko a shot at the title. Hogan never did. Flair would make anybody look good. Just ask George South. I'm glad he is getting the respect he always deserved. Hogan will never get that from his peers.

  • Him and Owen Hart made a good tag team.

  • He was 3rd runner-up for the 1990 Match of the Year (PWI) ... I don't think he was as great as Flair or Hogan, but he had his spot just like Jake Roberts, DiBiase, JYD, etc.

  • The Bird Man wasn't a jobber, he was a main eventer, just like Flair and JYD.

  • he looks good for his age, and he wasn't a jobber

  • I believe Koko was a jobber in the WWF but was pushed everywhere else he was

  • "when he came out there with his robe...I came out there with my parrot"...LMAO funniest statement I've heard in a while! No disrespect to koko though

  • what a guy. he seems over-the-top positive :D

  • "It kept me up there with Ric Flair and all the big guns". Yeah, Koko...you were in their league. Hogan. Flair. Savage. Sting. Koko B Ware.

I love how delusional some of these old guys are. Ware was a jobber to the stars and nothing more.

  • so true

  • He wasnt as popular as flair and them but he was pretty popular for awhile, and furthermore, he had a great finishing move with the ghostbuster

  • yeah, a modified pile-driver. With the exception of the Undertaker WWE had to outlaw those piledrivers because people were breaking their necks ie Owen Hart-on-Steve Austin.

  • yep...only agents and mcmahon approve piledrivers for matches, e.g. michaels/cena at wrestlemania. i believe jerry lawler has privilege to use his too, with permission from an agent and agreement from the opponent

  • Back in the 80's Koko B. Ware was very popular. He never held a title but he was apart of that 80's era where WWF became groundbreaking.

  • no he never held a title in wwf. but in other federations he has.

  • So I guess Randy Savage and Jake Roberts were not great stars then. Based on your observation.

  • NNNOOOOOOOOO not at all. I'd be definately blind not to see that. Those two were main eventers ...Co Co B ware was just fun to watch as his entry was very funny. Now this video suggests in Ric Flairs' Tennessee federation he was in fact a big name to wrestle Flair for the title. He got screwed in the then WWF!

  • It wasn't Flair's Knoxville territory, but Lawler's Memphis territory where the Flair/Ware title match took place. The fact that it wasn't Lawler or Dundee wrestling Flair shows how much stock the Memphis people placed in Ware. Koko did hold a title or two during his years in Memphis.

  • I agree,Vikkisnake. They might as wel have inducted the Brooklyn Brawler or Iron Mike Sharpe too.

  • they will induct brawler at some point.

  • thats what impressted me...LOL

  • He came out with his robe, I came out with my Parrot.

  • An awesome wrestler. Had he come up today he would be a main-eventer.

  • Awesome wrestler, but I perferred him as a tag team wrestler, like he was when he was part of the original Pretty Young Things with Norvell Austin back in the day

  • Way before my time...

  • He was a great high-flyer who had power and good mat wrestling. He definitely would be winning matches today and would be on more PPVs.

  • How does he seem slow?

  • by not seeming all that quick

  • Seems fine to me

  • Ummm, he's fine. Clearly you're the slow one.

  • I hate to see derogatory remarks aimed at Koko. I have nothing but respect for the man. He started out at the bottom and made a name for himself. I have watched him since his days in Memphis and he always gave the fans a good show.

  • I totally agree. My frriend and I met him at a wwf show back in I wanna say 92 or 93 when we were about 13. He was the nicest guy, not only did he sign his autograph for us, but also took the time chat also. Just a great all around guy. You would have to be a pretty miserable person to say something negative about him

  • That is good to hear, not every wrestler will take time to meet with the fans. I had read an article that said Koko started out as an errand runner for Jerry Jarrett, the Memphis promoter. That kind of story inspires the xxxx out of me. A nice guy but he was also known to be one of the toughest. Other wrestlers knew he was not somebody you wanted to mess with.

  • no Koko didn't eat Frankie when he got cooked

  • I still think that is Ricky Waters.

  • The camera needs to be a little closer.

  • woooooo!
