Yes, he can hit those notes in falsetto. So can I...and I have no vocal training. And Keane happens to be a huge British pop-rock star - and this isn't the first song to make it across the pond.

No, that's not a theremin; it's a synth - listen to the attack. Besides, theremins are totally impractical for audio production. They're gimmicky at best.

No vocal training? Hm... I am member of a choir and our men need training for falsetto singing. With Tom it´s a gift, but training as well. I am very sorry he does not perform SHNT or Allemande live any more, my guess would be he has been training his voice towards a more Freddie Mercury style to be able to perform so many gigs in a row.
