Funny-- I used to really like Letterman-- a LOT.. but these days he just comes off as an old man trying to be funny and it's not working. I don't know....
David Letterman is like that loser schoolkid who uses obnoxiousness as substitute for esteem. And the audience laughing at his attempts just shows the level they're at. :/ Who watches this show??! Losers?
This is hilarious. Why do u ppl get so upset about dave, it's entertainment, he's taking the piss out himself more than anyone to get the audience and the guests into the moment. Plus he's shitfaced out of his mind, which makes him so fucking cool.
Late night talk show hosts are fond of sabotaging the guests who do cooking segments. I think they see it as an opportunity to act silly, but usually they only add way too much of the ingredients, fuck up the dish, and then chow down on the pre-prepared one before mentioning their new book or whatever. Letterman is acting like a total prick here, though. If I were Nigella in this situation, I'd have slapped him in the face with that Salmon and never gone on his show again.
@TheFever77 Not sure how many programs from say, Japan you watch but they are goofier and dumber by miles. Don't think anybody call Japanese people 'not smart' (compared to English or whoever). This is Letterman at his best, has very little to do with not being smart.
@isradanbar LAWSON, Nigella. Obviously you wouldn't know her because she doesn't belong to Chefland like Paul Bocouse and yourself. But she's an amazing cook, and very talented writer who's won more than a few awards. Sorry to break the sad news, but sometimes beauty lies in simplicity.
she has to be on something-she used to be more easy going she seems sorta wooden
Ok how the fuck does he not cough like all hell after eating straight mustard? she actually says "you're going to do yourself damage" cuz she knows it's spicy
I agree with you. I am glad somebody else also sees the humor in this and understand that they are jocking with each other.
Some have write bad things about David Letterman in thier comment. They haven't understand that he is a comedian and Late show is a comedy show! Nothing personal to Nigella...
I'm sure everyone realizes that. But it would have certainly helped if Dave was actually funny.
Most people know who Dave is, what he does and how he does it. Sometimes it's funny, sometimes (like in this case) it's not and it has nothing to do with Nigella or it being "classic Letterman", as someone mentioned above.
well here's the thing...dave was kind of annoying (ie: when he hosted the oscars), but you think of it...it's JUST a cooking segment...no disrespect to nigella; i happen to love her! i just thought some of her fan's reactions were a bit too serious...ie: the reactions to some "critics" when he hosted the oscars! it's movies and cooking. people get way too uptight!
They're aren't fans, they're fangirls (be they female or otherwise). Taking something about their idol too seriously and blowing it out of proportions is what they do.
lol i'm not taking them too seriously...that's why i said it was funny...hence the original comment i made prefaced with "lol". i find it funny her fans are mad at the way he "treated" her...as if they genuflect on her cooking segments
Yeah, these reactions are silly. Nigella is obviously capable of taking care of herself and takes it all in stride. Letterman's had a show since the early 80s - anyone expecting him to act like a BBC host is clueless.
Clearly you have little knowledge of "BBC hosts". Jonathan Ross practically fucks Nigella every time she's on that show. Ross's cooking segments are also WAAAYYY more messy than this Letterman clip. So find yourself another "show host" stereotype benchmark in future.
Well, you're reaction is even sillier than theirs. Everybody knows the BBC cliche - I've watched it in action enough times to know that it's not a myth. Why it would upset anyone to point it out I don't know - they're generally acknowledged as the standard for news.
Oh, terrible! I guess this is the price of "making it in America". Everything that makes Nigella unique, her brains, education, simplicity, beauty, British low-key wit, her love of home, hospitality, simple fresh food etc. is lost here. This guy's need to turn everything into slapstick comedy, to keep the focus on himself, reduces Nigella to a sitcom Italian momma stereotype. Note her good manners in trying to include the other guest. It's a long way from the BBC

I agree with you on all points except 'that it's the price of making it in America." David Letterman is a self-centered host. It's because of him not America. She was on other shows - like the NBC's Today Show and it was all beautiful and natural with the folks there.
@hilaryduffrox80002 Because you are one envious and jealous son of a bitch.... even if you live for thousand years you won't be as successful and rich as Dave... so go fuck your self.
@allbu849 Ha! Jealous? Of him? You amuse me! Not in a million years honey. You cannot seriously believe that those words came out of jealousy. Nigella is magnificent and Dave mocks her...therefore I don't like him. I'm entitled to my own opinion and if you like Dave that's good for you. I really don't care. I like Nigella and therefore I'm not going to waste my time bickering with you over who is better and who is more successful. If you really want to cause drama it just shows your immaturity
Is Letterman this much of a moron all the time? It's not even that Nigella is making him look like a 'dumb american', he's doing that all on his own!
