While wathing the news I heard an American soldier in Iraq tell an Iraqi "Democracy means that if I want to change my cell phone provider, I can". That's the level the US has sunk to.
ya gotta love the way all the republicans get bent outta shape when they hear carlin talk about the charade of "freedom" in this country. I just watched a vid. when maher was still doin politically incorrect and carlin was sayin similar stuff and the republican on the show acted the same way.
Sure, many young people were not FORCED to join the military, but many of them, who lacked opportunities on "the outside," were hyped up at the recruiter's office where they were given lots of false promises.
We all were forced to start a phony war against a sovereign nation by the Texas Bushman!
Stay tuned for another phony war against the Iranians.
Don't forget, we are the only people who have used an atomic bomb on human beings!
that atomic bomb u speak of essentially ended the 2nd world war and made it to where u and i were able to grow up in a democracy... now im with u on the fact that the recruiters use manipulative tactics to get others to join, although its not their fault, thats just how the system works. anybody that would attempt 2 defend bush needs 2 have their head examined, but those A bombs shaped the course of american(and world) history, and without them, the world would be an even uglier place
@theFEMAcampESCAPEE "the atomic bomb essentially ended the war?" Not really. The Germans had already surrendered and the Japanese were going to surrender - they had already sent the message of surrender but were bombed anyway. The bombings were nothing more than a show of strength by the US.
@Sshelly34213 You were making so much sense and were sounding so smart... right up until you chose the worst possible example to make your point. John McCain is wealthy, but he's also a Vietnam War hero and his father was a freakin' Admiral. Still sad Carlin can't tell the pundits to shove it anymore...
So? Even though a Vietnam boy saved his life and kept the crowd from beating him to death after his plane was shot down, he still is angry at the Vietnamese.
If he truly was a Christian, he see the good in that race of people from the gestures of that one man and forgive the entire country.
We started that fight and it is fact that the Gulf of Tonkin was a false flag mission to start the war. A war that was for corporate profit, just like Iraq except young kids were forced to fight.
They didnt "choose"! Majority of the people I know that went are poor Hispanics/blacks/whites who couldn't afford college and who were so naive when it came to fighting and conflicts. The 18 old kids are just that, kids.
how does that matter? joining the military always means having to go to war sometime. it's not like the country is paying people to just sit around and wait for their life to be over.
and most wars are fought over resources and power, hardly any out of defense.
He's right, you'll notice that the wealthy 1% like John McCain come from a family of generations of wealth extending to the middle ages...
Lords are still in charge of us and we're still their surfs. They're just smarter about it now, they pay us a meager sum, convince us that we're happy by giving us suburbs, delivery pizza, and cheap gizmos like computers and ipods. They're basically just fattening us up, to shut us up.
I asked a friend who said we have great freedoms in this country, where she would go if she could go anywhere and she replied she couldn't afford to go anywhere.
i agree with george 99% of the time..i feel wrong about choice

Killing people for the rich...because you can't get a job in the private sector...is as low as you can sink.
You've gotta feel sorry for people who were drafted.
Enlisting for peanuts...for a bad cause...is evil.

@kossmikham
Are you implying that people who enlist...don't think that they may be going to Iraq or Afghanistan?
You're partially correct....They don't think...and That's the problem. And because of it...they're killing millions of men, women and children.
btw: Anyone that down arrows deathstar367's comment...is stupid, or knows someone who was/is... stupid.
Carlin hated Americans... because they Were stupid.

they chose the military but not the fight.....iraq had nothing to do with your freedom....not unless we are merging the 2 nations......
