@tigersforchrist- you need to fear ur true GOD and ask forgiveness. if islam was so bad n negative then how come so many of u lot christians, revert back to islam, becos they have done their research, read and study the quran n unlike your bible the quran doesn't say one thing then another chapter sumthing else, which is the reason y so many christians come to to islam. i was once a christians the answers i was looking for i found in islam. islam is more pure, more true and a true religion.
@tigersforchrist- youtube and watch "Eureka my journey to islam by yusha evan" if ur so sure about ur religion have no fear and watch the whole off that video. christian is the religion that lies and paints jesus in light that he never ever asked to be painted in. what u lot r doing is wrong. god made jesus to show off his power and yes like other prophets to save people n to choose the 1 god but u lot act like jesus is god. i pity n fear 4 u becos what will u say when jesus asks 'y have u lied'

It represents your culture, okay, but what is that culture's idea behind the hijab?
No matter how assertive or emanzipated muslim women are when they live in a country where they are *allowed* to be assertive and emanzipated, the hijab still represents a culture - and a specific part of that culture - that sees the devaluation and owning of women as a legitimate thing to do.
If you wear a hijab, wear it because you like the way it *looks*, because it makes you feel beautiful, confident and strong, because it encourages you to be yourself and stand your ground.
Do *not* wear it because you believe that only veiled women don't ask for rape; because that's the message you automatically approve of when wearing the hijab to 'represent a culture'.
if it not worn proppa its not hijab, if ppl can see ur hair (and ur body form) then might as well not wear it, hijab means to dress modestly, not just cover the hair, if ppl can see hair is as tho ur not wearing a scarf
Short and sweet video. I really like how she stayed true to what she believed in. Being in a free society, she finally sought at least some answers as to why Hijab is important to her. It should always be a matter of personal choice.
That's a very subjective claim. Yes, Islam came to Persia from the arabs, but with time the Persians formed their own unique Islamic identity and practices - which were then exported to other countries in Central Asia. Islam has been a part of Iranian culture for more than a thousand years. Tens of millions of people outside North Tehran practice their religion and consider it an inherent part of their culture. And now, the Iranian Shiite religion is being propagated into Arab lands.
great job in presenting your ideas. I saw couple of comments kicking out some disagreements. that is good though as it seems you have successfully preset your point of view and that is why some others have post their own. I am gonna follow your videos.
um, HIJAB IS NOT A CULTURAL THING, IT'S WHAT ALLAH TOLD WOMEN TO DO NOT ONLY IN ISLAM, IN CHRISTIANITY ALSO.. STOP THE CONFUSION. I AM AN AMERICAN REVERT TO ISLAM AND SO WHAT YOUR SAYING IS THAT I'M ADOPTING YOUR IRANIAN CULTURE AND THATS FALSE..
@aMiNaB3LLA: i can see why you're worried about mixing culture & religion. i would add that just because hejab is a part of some people's culture doesn't mean that sahar is saying that you are conforming to iranian culture OR that iranian culture can only mean wearing hejab....it's just how she is currently interpreting her culture, which could mean iranian culture, muslim culture, or the intersection of both.
also, many different cultures share similar practices...for example, lots of americans appreciate a good pie, myself included (especiall hucklebery!). i think of a good pie as a part of my american culture. that doesn't mean that i think australians are being american if they like pie....pie can also be a part of australian culture if folks want it to be.
what she's wearing is not even called HIJAB.. she's barely covering her hair!!!
Allah ordered us to wear the hijab, to be modest and so to wear the perfect hijab.. NOT THIS !!!! dont worry aminab3lla.. you're in the right path.. may Allah protect you and grant you janna ameen
What a wonderfully done movie, your story of struggle and personal choice is one that can be applied to many situations and is an enlightened view on just a small piece of history. Thank you for sharing your story.
Persian culture does not include Hijab. Even Arab culture or holy book Quran does not include Hijab. Hijab is either a sign of oppression of women or a sign of the lack of self control by weak Muslim men. What you are wearing is not Hijab it is a fashion statement.
if people started wearing hijab in a way that covers everything except hands and face and ALL OF THE HAIR ;), everything would seem easier and less misconceptions
Well if you read Qur'an 33:59 and Bukhari V1B4N148, its your duty as a Muslim woman to wear the Hijab to keep men (insert Umar) from bothering you. Allah revealed the verses of Al-Hijab for Umar's sake because Umar told Muhammad he could recognize his wife when she went out to go to the toilet.
Muslim women wear the Hijab because Umar wanted to enslave the women. So he had a plan and followed Muhammad's wives when they went to use the bathroom at night and then went up to one and said "I can recognize you." Then he ran and told Muhammad. Conveniently the next day Muhammad said that Allah reveiled to him the verses of Al-Hijab (Bukhari V1B4N148). Don't believe me? Read it yourself. You can listen to this Hadith being read in "The Origin Of The Hijab - Umar, The Toilet Peeping Tom."
I would like to tell you something:The way you wear your veil is the same when old women go to church to pray in italy or when it's raining and a woman or a girls doesn't have an umbrella but she has a scarf, so she use it to cover her hair from the rain. no difference.
Another thing:you say veil is your culture, your identity, so what is Ciro,Serse,Dario for you?Do you remember that Iran was called Persia and its religion was Zoroastrism? Why Allah should be better of Zoroastro?

Hijab is very oppresive. It has ZERO to do with Iranian culture or heritage. It was enforced in 1979 by the Islamic government.

In Iran Hijab is not a religious expression but it is a sign of oppression.
