I loved Perpetual burn but he looks like a total faggot live. Once you've heard 5 becker tracks, you've heard them all. All the rest are just the others he's done rearranged.
@jakethegimp2 Jason would probably laugh at that comment, that's the kind of guy he is. He thought highly of others at his clinics, as if they thought like you and wouldn't get anything out of his lessons. Yet nobody ever did his kind of style nearly as good. Ever. People sometimes come close to sounding like him, but never say take a song like "When you wish upon a star" and prove they have any skill at performing because they wouldn't know what to do without it already being done his way.
...Which one is Jason? Is he the one on the left or the right? Lol it's just that the picture quality on that camera was so bad I couldn't make out which one was which lol ;)
@authorized11111 Not to totally dog on Mr. Rhoads but he was pretty much asking for it when he pulled that little stunt with the plane, but as for Dime and Jason.... Dime was a tragedy and Jason hasn't gone anywhere, he's just an ill man who will get better in time.
i just found out that jason was about 19 when he finished perpetual burn. that's fucking crazy. and he was already better than friedman when he was 16 and friedman was about 23..
@Glutonid Well that's actually a pretty common pattern that Marty tends to use when he is going over a progession(The Ninja, Tornado of Souls[Megadeth]) and it's pretty much just a two string arpeggio with three notes going up and down.
I guess Jason just decided to use it while Marty plays rythm.
Dude, you sure you know which is which? Fortunately Jason got at LEAST 2/3's of the camera's attention. The guy is a genious-Im a drummer but followed JB for his entire career. 1 of his best trax 2 IMO.
Yeah I know which is which. Jason is the guy with a beef strat like guitar. Marty is the one with the strange guitar. Actually after looking at the video again. They split it by half.

@markcball Agreed 100%, unless someone like Jeff Loomis decided to play power chord songs like Green Day I agree completely. ANd I love this song and its mix between Metal and then that whole Blues solo thing is amazing! And more genres shows off the skills of the guitarist rather than segmenting them to one style! And thats one thing that makes Jason Becker one of my top fav guitarists!

C'mon Randy was great and in an 87 rip magazine interview with the up and coming Becker he stated Randy was a big influence as well as Malmsteen and Vanhalen and classical influences such as Paganini and JS.Bach I bought both the solo albums and cacopphony albums within a year of each other back then.Marty and Jason are great;hell my son is 8 and his favorite guitarists are Steve Vai,Jeff Loomis,Becker,Friedman and believe it or not?Chris Poland I turned him on to return to metalacolypse ha!
Alot of shredders today just play fast to impress people and it works, but with Becker it was never like that. Never did his shredding seem about the speed and not the music. He is an absolute genius.
@eoinb57 nope, you should listent better the jason becker solos and soloist songs, he is the paganinni of our time, he had a brain bigger than his skills
@ramiropohle sorry to be honest here but there is a large difference between Solo albums and writing music for a band, look at Jeff Loomis, listen to his stuff with Nevermore and then Zero Order Phase, very diverse from one another, Randy in his short time got something like 50 seconds on Dee, that was the only instrumental piece i heard from him and was beautiful, I am a huge fan of both Rhoads and Becker, but i just feel you are unfairly judging, it aint right to say that, show some respect.
@ramiropohle i respect them both just fine, I love Beckers stuff as i said already, i just dont think saying Becker is better than Rhoads when Randy barely got a chance to release anything, Becker had all solo material, where as Randy only for a band, and then they were both untimely stricken down, all i'm saying is you shouldn't be saying one is better than the other, they were both amazing artists at different things.
@F4TB0Y69 Yeah, but Becker released his solo and Cacophony albums when he was 17 and 18 years old. Randy died when he was 23 I think, so he dropped the ball and Jason picked it up 6 years early.
@KornSOAD man they were both amazing, like i said, Jason never wrote for a band, and Rhoads did they were both different genres, it is impossible for one to be better than the other, there is only opinion.
@KornSOAD everything i have heard of Cacophony is virtuoso, look, I love Rhoads and Becker, this all started because he said Randy sucked, I mean come on he and Marty and Jason (and Yngwie obv) inspired artists like Jeff Loomis and Chris Broderick. They are all inspirational to other people and I feel insulted when people rip on late great artists when they built the future thats all.
@DongissimoGordo I disagree. I think it's hard to argue that Randy was more creative than Jason if you look at their works. I'm pretty sure Jason's composed more music (pre ALS) and he definately played more genres and wrote more compilicated pieces. You might like Randy's music more, but I don't see how you can call him "more" creative.
Actually, it has been scientifically proven that when Randy died, his spirit inhabited Jason Becker's body, where they combined to spawn an insane, ungodly guitar creation, but the awesomeness was too much, so God had to even the playing field for the other musicians of the universe, although Jason is still better than everybody
Don't you know? god and satan, jealous of jason's superior and still growing shred talents as compared with their own, decided to team up and inflict ALS on poor Jason. Damn deity bastards
no, nobody moving in the croud because they are listening, because the music is for listening, and intelillgent people listen the music.. and if is beautiful music, real music, then with only yiour mind you can move throug the entire universe
Tony Fredianelli (of Third Eye Blind) fame sounds VERY similar to Marty Friedman. Check out Apocrypha's "Forgotten Scroll" album which was produced was Marty. Tony's vibrato and note choice are very Friedman-ish...a real rarity since most guys at the time were doing the "Yngwie" thing.
Tony still has a little Friedman-esque style in his playing with Turd Eye Blind...weird but true.
i wana play like jason or atleast get some influence in my playing!
