  • Sadly the tempo is too slow. This affects breathing - 'how long can the breath/voice support a phrase?' is a question the conductor ought to ask herself. The know-on effect is bad intonation. a pity this, as I think the choir is capable of much better. A more suitable tempo would perhaps go a long way to eliminate the difficulty that these older voices are experiencing. Slow does not mean more devout!

  • @xotan Yes, could be a little faster. You're right about their intonation - the ending chord is almost exactly a semitone below their starting pitch. Their setting is a 4th lower than the printed setting - one wonders where they would have ended up if they'd sung the higher version.
