The evolution of the fighters has little to do with the promotions... the promotions merely set the stage for the evolution to happen.That being said, the stage Pride set was second-to-none.

I think the UFC doesn't do this because they don't need to, it would cost a lot of money, etc. Not to mention that Pride reflected Japanese culture, which placed more importance on the spirit of fighting rather than purely the physical nature, as the US tends to.

Even UFC champions and veterans like Coleman, Bas, Randleman, Barnett, Don Frye etc switched over to PRIDE for tougher competition. We have had four former PRIDE fighters win UFC belts since PRIDE ceased to exist, heck even Anderson Silva was in PRIDE before. You can't compare the current UFC to the old PRIDE, UFC was different back then.
