@Addicted2Math I was 6 yrs old when I got my first german shep. I wont lie to you, they're a lot of work. We named her "Luca" after the hitman in the godfather. She was fearless and very intimidating for a 6 year old lol. But in all her 12 years of life she never tried to hurt me. It wasn't even a possiblity. She was a total sweet heart. Beautiful dog and slide - trust me, love him and appreciate each day like it's the last. My Golden is about to turn 14, he has warts, has a hard time getting up the steps, sleeps alot, has a white face, we have to massage his hips to get him going - he's been very special to me and my wife. I'd give anything to do the 14 years again, when they leave you, it's not just them that goes, it's a big part of your life gone with them.
the german shepherd is one of the most loyal dogs i have ever owned. when i was growing up we had one and i was a year old to 5 and he would keep guard and would be so playful and would let us ride on him and what not = ) rip borris

The only thing I would say about attacking is make sure you get your GSD from a reputable breeder. With back yard breeding running rampant, you really don't know what kind of animal you may get. Its kind of hit or miss with BYB. The other with attacking is, GSDs bond themselves to their people, so if anyone was to ever threaten your family......

This is the best GSD I have seen, thought it looks kind of different than the other german shepherds I have seems, somewhat..fluffier.. is he from some sort of special breed?
@bear123456789101 if you dont socilize them and train them early they can get behavioral problems and they have to be able to get out and get some exercise
@Addicted2Math They are the most wonderful dogs with children. Make an effort to find one that was handled by children in the weeks before turning eight weeks old and being ready for it's new home. It can make a huge difference. I raised my two daughters with four german shepherds at any given time. My kids may have things to complain about but not being allowed to have pets isn't one of them. They are great companions for children.
we (my family and i)have always have 2 types of dogs pitbulls and german shepards 2 OF THE BEST dogs to have ever been bread,despite what rep. the pitbull has they loving caring dogs just like the shepards.any ways lovely dogs u got there hes awesome.
My dogs love kids, and my parrot. It depends on how you raise them, socialise them and their temperament. Any dogs teeth will hurt when it bites down, my dogs never put their teeth on me - even in play - i taught this when they were puppies.

Great pics and dog. Incidentally, our last gs was also named Jake but we lost him last year from bloat. We have now replaced him with a beautiful long coated male from imported German parents and he is gorgeous. Also, the choice of music was excellent and so appropriate. baraka148 must have no taste.
what a beautifull dog. i lost my male g.s.d in aprill he was 12 years i miss him so much it makes me cry watching this video . i have a female who is 1 year old . when she see's i'm crying she comes and cuddles me i'd be lost with out a g.s.d. in my life they make my life complete

How old is Jake now ? I have a long haired GS, born 9/11/02, and imported from hungary, and he looks very much like Jake (eventhough I understand that many GSs can look similar in color....). He even has exact markings of the head and face. I love German Shepherds, and have great respect for people, who care for them properly and include them into their family. I wish you all the best, and I wish Jake a very long, healthy, and happy life.
He's gorgeous, so are the others. I have 2 German Shepherds, a brother and sister. They aren't the slanted back either. They are the most loyal, gentle, and uncannily intelligent dogs I have ever had. It's GSDs forever for me.

yes he is german working lines. his back is not very slanted, when we stack him it slants as per the breed but is in no way exaggerated as you would see in show lines. look for a dog that's healthy and has a good temperament and you can;t go wrong :)

That settles it- I will have a shepherd....the breed is perfect for someone willing to put the time in.....labs and border collies are great, but they are not shepherds. Wow, just looking at that slideshow (which is great btw) I can see how fast hes grown. It really is amazing how fast GSD puppies grow. I got my shepherd of 10 years, when was 5 months old I think. He's kind of an old man now, 10 years old lol.

They usually come up after teething at 6-7 months. At that stage if they're not up, taping them may help. At 2 years it's not likely they would ever come up, even with taping.
Well my puppy is at 7 months and only one of her ears stands perfectly and the other only comes up if we do physical activities is that a sign that both will stand eventually ?

He has a gorgeous coat. My GSD is a beautiful black with a tan under belly and paws! Its amazing how fast they grow. My sheperd is turning 2 in September. We are breeding her sometime in July shortly after she ends her heat. If anyone wants a puppy just contact me! :)

great lookig dog ,very awesome markings i can tell he is a pedigree, mine is european (eat german blood line ) and is from a working line also, check him out ,hes only 7 weeks in the video .he is now 8 weeks old

How old is Jake now ? I have a long haired GS, born 9/11/02, and imported from hungary, and he looks very much like Jake (eventhough I understand that many GSs can look similar in color....). He even has exact markings of the head and face. I love German Shepherds, and have great respect for people, who care for them properly and include them into their family. I wish you all the best, and I wish Jake a very long, healthy, and happy life.

He's gorgeous, so are the others. I have 2 German Shepherds, a brother and sister. They aren't the slanted back either. They are the most loyal, gentle, and uncannily intelligent dogs I have ever had. It's GSDs forever for me.

i love your dog hes lovely....is he a work bloodline...cos i dont like the show bloodlines with the slanted backs it looks abnormal and is cruel.....this is how a german shepherd should look...i want one....if i get one that isnt a show line it shouldnt have a slanted back right ?....?....?

yes he is german working lines. his back is not very slanted, when we stack him it slants as per the breed but is in no way exaggerated as you would see in show lines. look for a dog that's healthy and has a good temperament and you can;t go wrong :)

That settles it- I will have a shepherd....the breed is perfect for someone willing to put the time in.....labs and border collies are great, but they are not shepherds. Perfect breed if raised right. My boston terrier is about to have a brother....thanks for the vid. What a dog! He is a member of the family, no?

Wow, just looking at that slideshow (which is great btw) I can see how fast hes grown. It really is amazing how fast GSD puppies grow. I got my shepherd of 10 years, when was 5 months old I think. He's kind of an old man now, 10 years old lol.

Just remember a lot of the time the larger one's are subject to a lot of health problems. A reputable breeder, and pet insurance are a must.

Whats the longest it takes for the ears to come up, and is there a solution to getting them up if they become floppy even at two years old ?

They usually come up after teething at 6-7 months. At that stage if they're not up, taping them may help. At 2 years it's not likely they would ever come up, even with taping.

Well my puppy is at 7 months and only one of her ears stands perfectly and the other only comes up if we do physical activities is that a sign that both will stand eventually ?
